7 1 GAME NOTES JANUARY 20, 2017 GAME #46 VANCOUVER GIANTS ( ) VS. KELOWNA ROCKETS ( ) LAST GAME The Giants are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Victoria Royals on Tuesday at the Langley Events Centre. Ryan Gagnon, Tyler Soy and Matthew Phillips scored the Victoria goals while Griffen Outhouse made 25 saves for the shutout in the Victoria net. Ryan Kubic made 39 stops on 42 shots in the Giants crease. Vancouver went 0-for-2 on the power play. OPPOSITION The Rockets also lost their last game, falling 3-2 to the Moose Jaw Warriors in OT on Wednesday. Kole Lind leads the Rockets in scoring with 53 points. Kelowna acquired forward Reid Gardiner from Prince Albert before the trade deadline. Gardiner, who has spent most the season in the AHL, has five points in his first four games with the Rockets. SEASON SERIES Friday s game will be the third of eight meetings in the season series. The Rockets have won both match-ups, beating the G-Men 6-4 on Nov. 4 th and 5-3 on Nov. 18 th. 8 Giants Friday January 20, 2017 Game Time 7:05 pm Tonight s Preview: The Kelowna Rockets face the Vancouver Giants for only the third time this season. It is hard to believe that with 27 games remaining, these two BC Division rivals have met twice, November 4 th (6-4 Rockets win) and November 18 th (5-3 Rockets win). The Rockets will face the Giants five times in the final 18 games of the regular season. The Rockets are an astonishing against the G-Men in the last 26 appearances between the two teams. In the last 13 games in Vancouver/Langley, the Rockets are Nick Merkley (2+3=5) leads the Rockets offensively in the seasonal series while Calvin Thurkauf also has (1+4=5) five points in two games.
