1 4-H UNIVERSITY JUNE 21-24, 2016 At LSU! Celebrate a Century of Leading, Competing, & Succeeding at 4-H U. 4-H University is the premier 4-H event of the year for 4-H members 13 and older. If you turned 13 by December 31, 2015 you are old enough to attend! There are over 40 contests offered in the competitive track providing individual and team competitions in demonstrations, interviews, speeches/talks and project related examinations. A member may only participate in one (1) event at 4-H University, either a contest or clover college session. All contest participants are trained by LSU AgCenter extension staff to prepare for their event. You are invited to join us in a 4-HU informational meeting on March 8, 2016 from the 4-H office. All 13 and older members as of December 31, 2015 who are interested in finding out about 4-HU are invited. Approximate Cost: $ (Includes registration fee, lodging, and transportation). 2 What to Expect During 4-H U 4-H members who were 13 years old by December 31, 2015 are eligible to attend 4-H University to be held on the campus of LSU in Baton Rouge. During 4-H U, participants will be introduced to aspects of life that college students experience on an everyday basis. Depending on their interests, students may tour a working dairy, a biomedical center and athletic facilities. While enjoying LSU s campus participants will have time to explore the student union, have a look at the new bookstore, and visit Mike the Tiger s cage. The Lafayette Parish delegation will be lodging in the LSU campus dorms in Baton Rouge, LA. Participants are allowed to select their roommate. If they do not have a preference, efforts are made to group them according to age and interests. 4-H agents and trained adult volunteers supervise members from our delegation. A nightly meeting is held to coordinate all schedules for the next day. Opportunities For You!
