NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! 4-H Communications Day Speaking and communicating skills are among the most valuable any person ever develops. Take this opportunity to learn, and gain some experience at the 4-H Communications Day on March 20, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at The Butler County Educational Complex. This will include mock interviews, speech and demonstration categories. Speech contest categories include 9, 10 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17/18 year old divisions. Demonstration categories will be project speci ic. Mock interview is for years old. To get more information about this please by the Butler County Extension Of ice or give us a call and we can mail you the information. This will be the only event that you can earn 4-H bucks. You will receive a ribbon of either white, red or blue. White indicating you need improvement, red indicating good and blue indicating excellent. Each color ribbon has different value. White:$10 Red:$25 Blue:$50. You can use the 4-H Bucks as payment for any kind of a 4-H event. 4-H Written Communications Contest You may participate in the written portion in Songwriting, Poetry, What 4-H Means to Me Essay, Original Monologue. 2 4-H Teen Cuisine- Cooking class for teens grades 6-12 When & Where: March 6, 13, 20, 27, :00-5:30 pm at the Butler Co. Extension Of ice Experience food preparation while learning food safety, preparation skills and the importance of nutrition and physical activity and the skills to possibly participate in the 4-H Culinary Challenge. 4-H Summit March 23-25, Lake Cumberland 4-H Educational Center 4-H Teen Summit is a three day, two night conference just for the middle schoolers. This event gives middle schoolers the chance to make new friends from across the state, choose workshops based on their interests, participate in a service project, interact with state leadership boards. Paperwork and payment of $60 is due on February 6, H Teen Retreat - The Magic of 4-H April 7-9, West Kentucky 4-H Camp Spend a relaxing, leadership-based, fun- illed weekend with your friends and fellow teens from western Kentucky! Additional activities will include a fantastic guest speaker, karaoke, dances, movies, mixers, great food and more! Paperwork & payment of $90 is due on March 6, Kentucky 4-H Teen Conference June 12-15, University of Kentucky More information will be available later. This program has been designed to help you develop leadership and citizenship skills, inspire you to remain in 4-H and acquaint you with the University of Kentucky! What will you get to do?? First, you will stay on campus, take part in tracks, workshops, college visits plus make many new friends! Youth Agriculture Incentives Program The Youth Agricultural Incentives Program guidelines were developed to facilitate a growing need for a specialized program that would bene it youth actively engaged in agriculture. The focus of the program is on youth developing agricultural projects, as well as strengthening partnerships with school ag programs, Cooperative Extension, and 4-H/ FFA organizations. Questions concerning these guidelines should be directed to the Governor s Of ice of Agricultural Policy at (502) or govkyagpolicy@ky.gov. 3 4-H Horse Club Youth who join will have the opportunity to participate in 4-H Horse Camp, 4-H Horse Bowl, horse judging, and both educational and competitive riding opportunities. You do not have to own a horse to participate, just a desire to know more about these fascinating animals. Parent participation is welcomed and encouraged. 4 4-H Aerospace Camp Try-outs for the KY 4-H Performing Arts Troupe will be held during Teen Conference week!!!! Try-out for the following: Singer, Musician, Stage Hands or Lights and Sound Tech. Application & Essay for this is due in April!! More information will be available soon for this. Youth from 6th grade through age 19 can join us on June 7th for the 4-H Aerospace Camp held at the Madisonville Municipal Airport. Registration is $110. Please stop at the Extension Of ice to pick up an application today! For more information please call the Extension Of ice at H Project Day Camp & Show The Butler County 4-H Project Craft Day Camp will be June 26-28, 2017 at the Eva Hawes Building from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. We will have many projects available including: woodworking, needle stitching, cooking, nature crafts, photography, and much, much more. This will be an EXCELLENT opportunity to make a project for the 4-H Project Show during the Cat ish Festival. Project entry day will be on June 29, 2017 with judging on June 30, All ribbon winners in the 4-H Project Show win COLD, HARD CASH and get to show their project at the Kentucky Sate Fair in August. Registration fee for the Project Camp is $45 for the 3 days or $20 a day. Preregister and pay by June 19, 2017 at the Butler County Extension Of ice. You may enter your own projects that you have completed during the 4-H year on June 29, 2017 at the Eva Hawes Building. Those projects may include: food, breads, crafts, needle work, sewing items, woodworking, photography, vegetables and horticulture items and much, much more!

Saylor County Extension Agent Apple Cranberry Chutney Ingredients 1 Kentucky Proud apple, diced, 1/2 Kentucky Proud onion, diced 1 clove Kentucky Proud garlic, 1/2 orange, thinly sliced, 1 cup cranberries, 2 tbsps. Minced ginger 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup Kentucky Proud apple cider vinegar Directions Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook for minutes until cranberries pop and orange zest is tender. The chutney should thicken and become a cohesive, jam-like mixture.
