3 Cherokee County Fair Promotional Poster Contest Sponsored By: Keys Tire Lube & Auto Repair Means Furniture Robbins Farm, Bakery and Catering POSTER CONTEST GUIDELINES 1) Open to any 4-H or FFA member of Cherokee County club or Chapter 2) Poster size: 14 x 22 poster board 3) Poster must be a freehand drawing. No magazine clippings, press-on letters or computer generated 4) Each poster MUST include the following: Title: Cherokee County Fair Dates: September 12-15, 2018 Site: Why: Cherokee County Fairgrounds Each poster should promote attendance to the fair or a particular event at the fair Give - Name, School, Grade, and Age as of September 1, 2018 on back of poster 5) Divisions: 8-11 yrs old, yrs old, yrs old 6) Prizes: $25, $20, $15, $10, and $5 in each division. 4 GENERAL INFORMATION The Cherokee County Fair is sponsored by the Cherokee County Fair Board for the educational benefits derived from placing on exhibit the work and accomplishments of the exhibitors. We express our appreciation to all individuals, businessmen and organizations who contribute each year to the success of the Fair. In all classes, the judges will determine the placing regardless of the number of entries. JUNIOR LIVESTOCK DIVISION 1. Junior livestock division is open to bonafide Cherokee County 4-H and FFA members who are attending school or residing in Cherokee County. 2. Age for Junior exhibitors is 8 years old and in the 3rd grade through 13 years old and Senior exhibitors is 14 years and older as of September 1, Exhibitor must own animal at least 60 days prior to fair date except bucket calf classes, poultry and rabbits. 4. Horses & swine must meet all state health regulations and show proper paperwork. Sick animals are not eligible to be exhibited. The Fair board s decision is final. The Superintendent can call the vet. 5. Registration papers are required on all animals that are to be shown as registered. The papers must be in the name of the exhibitor H and FFA exhibitors must wear emblem of their youth organization while showing livestock, this also includes horses. 7. All animals must be owned, cared for, and exhibited by the individual exhibitor. Should they have more than one (1) animal in the same class, an eligible alternate showman may be used providing approval of the respective superintendent. 8. During Showmanship competition animals MUST be shown by the owner. 9. All bulls must have pierced nose-ring in their nose. 10. No more than 2 entries per class with the exception of rabbits and poultry, which can have one entry per female class and one entry per male class. 11. All livestock must be in place at the time specified and will be released after each show is complete. 12. No oil, paint or powder may be used on the swine. 13. Swine must be ear-notched according to breed. Specifications and ear notches must be healed. 14. Breeding swine must have registration papers unless they show in the crossbred class. 15. No animal can be shown in more than one class. 16. Above rules apply to all livestock where applicable. 17. Criticizing or interfering with the judge, other exhibitors, breed representatives, or show officials before, during or after the event may result in an individual or group being expelled, placed on probation, or barred from exhibiting at the event and all premium moneys will be refunded. All prospect does must have milk teeth (without milk teeth does will show in the aged class), no tooth rule on whether. No painting, powdering, or artificial coloring is allowed. All market whethers must be shorn to 3/8 inch, prospect does will be groomed to exhibitors liking. Goats shall be free of any health or skin illnesses. Goats will be required to have horns tipped. No sharp points will be allowed. Animals that endanger exhibitors shall be removed form the show. Goats will be weighed prior to show time by the exhibitor on official scales with weight cards being turned in by time stated. Exhibitors are allowed to brace their animals. The top four individuals in Class 2 are eligible to compete in the Tulsa State Fair contest, please let the extension office know if you are planning on attending by Friday, Sept. 14th. 14 7
