1 Goat Show Superintendents: Terry Washington & Tunk Andries Assistant Superintendents: Lauren James & Sadie Cole Rules and Regulations 1. Open to 4-H and FFA members in Rapides Parish only. 2. Animals must be entered by 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, Judging will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11, Each exhibitor must show his/her own animal. Market Goats: Grand Champion Rosette & Trophy 1. All goats must be dehorned. 2. Wether or doe goats are eligible to show. 3. All goats will be weight individually and classified into divisions. Goats eligible to show must be a minimum of 45 pounds. There is no maximum weight. 4. All goats must be slicked sheared within 7 days prior to the show. 5. Market goats will be dehorned, polled, or disbudded. Any scurs or horn structures must be blunted and not exceed one inch in length. Commercial Doe Show There will be two classes offered. 1. Spring doeling (Must have no visible evidence of the emergence of part or all of one or both of the first pair of permanent incisors.) 2. Yearling doe (two and four teeth are allowed) 3. Aged doe (6 tooth and over) 4. Does showing in the Commercial Market Doe classes cannot be entered or shown in the Market Goat Division. 5. All Commercial Market Does must have ear tag for identification in the class. 6. Commercial Does can be shown with hair or slick sheared. 7. All Commercial Does may be shown with horns or dehorned. Junior Breeding Goat Show 1. All breeding goats must have registration papers. They maybe purebred or percentage does. 2. 3 SECTION E Poultry Show Superintendents: Randy Turner, Jim Brownlee, Elizabeth Brownlee and Patricia Turner Notice: NEW HEALTH REGULATIONS FOR POULTRY - The Louisiana Livestock Sanitary Board recently passed the following regulation Regulation Admittance of Louisiana Poultry to Fairs, Livestock Shows and Poultry Shows which states: All poultry going to Louisiana fairs, livestock shows, and poultry shows shall be accompanied by a VS Form 9-2 indicating the flock of origin is under the National Poultry Improvement Plan is free of Salmonella gallinarum (typhoid). If the flock of origin is not under the National Poultry Improvement Plan, the birds of breeding age must be accompanied by VS Form 9-2 health certificate or Certificate of Veterinary inspection indicating the birds were tested negative or pullorum/thyphoid within 90 days prior to admittance to the fair. 1. Open to 4-H and FFA members in Rapides Parish only. 2. Exhibitors must be in possession and ownership of the birds by two (2) months of age. 3. Exhibitors are encouraged to feed and water their exhibits at least once during the fair H and FFA Poultry Show Birds will be entered WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m H and FFA Poultry Show judging will begin at 1:00 p.m. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, No registration fees required in the 4-H and FFA Poultry Show. 7. Birds will be judged by the American Standard of Perfections in the show. No Crossbred birds will be shown. 8. NO exhibit other than in good health and in good condition will be received in the show. 9. Those exhibiting poultry will do so at their own risk. The poultry will be given special care and attention and precaution will be taken to return the birds in good shape to owner. 10. Birds will be entered as cockerels, pullets, cocks, and hens. 11. Each exhibitor may enter in six premium numbers in the poultry division. Premiums WILL NOT be paid for more than six (6) entries by one (1) exhibitor. 12. On SEPTEMBER 21, 2013, any bird needing testing for thyphoid/pullorum, testing be done free of charge at the Dewitt Livestock Complex on Hwy 71 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All poultry has to be tested or they can not show. 13. The following definitions will apply to all exhibits in the poultry division: COCKEREL A male bird under (1) year old PULLET A female bird under one (1) year old COCK - A male bird over one (1) year old HEN A female bird over one (1) year old 14. No birds over two (2) years old will be allowed to show. 15. Official release time for all birds is SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. The Rapides Parish Fair Association will not be responsible for entries after 6:30 p.m. 16. Open to 4-H and FFA members in Rapides Parish only H and FFA rabbit will be entered WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2013, FROM 9:00 A.M. until 6:00 p.m H and FFA Rabbit Show judging will begin at 5:00 p.m. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, Classes will be called in order listed and exhibitors must show his/her own animal or provide for showing animal. 5. Exhibitors must supply their own feed and water containers. 6. Exhibitors may enter in six (6) premium numbers. Premiums WILL NOT be paid for more than (6) entries by one (1) exhibitor. (Exception: Exhibitors will be allowed to show two (2) meat pens in addition to six (6) other entries.) 7. Premiums Will Not be paid for more than six entries by one exhibitor. (Exception: Exhibitors will be allowed to show tow 2 meat pens in addition to six other entries) 8. Definition of classes: Senior rabbits six (6) months of age and over in those breeds having two (2) show room classes (Junior and Senior). Any violations of these rules will lead to disqualification. 12. Tattoos encourage but not mandatory. 13. 6 **Other Breeds As Needed** Meat Pens will consist of three (3) rabbits, all the same breed and variety. Age limit is not over ten (10) weeks; weight limit is not over fiver (5) pounds each rabbit. After that rabbit is selected, the judge will choose Best Opposite Sex. Award top 3 placings for BEST IN SHOW, 1 ST RUNNER UP, BEST OF THE BEST OPPPOSITE SEX Showmanship class will be held during the show. Enter at the time of registration or during show. Awards will be given in Junior Showman and Senior Showman All Best of Breeds entries are automatically entered into the Open Show. (Must have permanent tattoo to enter. 15. Additional Rules: 1. Breeding animals which are registered or recorded in the herd book or their respective breed association are eligible for show if the registration certificate contains animal identification data, a birthdate, ad a registration number. 2. All beef breeding entries must be registered or recorded with their respective breeding organization. Young Simmental and Simbrah cattle will be exempted if documentation showing eligibility for recording or registering is provided. Polled Hereford bulls from Range Bull certificates will not be eligible for showing. 3. Minimum weight for steer classes will be 850 lbs. with no maximum weight limit. 4. This division is subject to the general rules and regulations in addition to these division rules. 2. Any crossbred/grade heifers are eligible to enter the commercial heifer division. 3. The weight of the heifer cannot be less than 400 pounds. Calves will be weighed only one time. 4. The heifer must have a tag in ear when she comes to the show in October. 5. The entries in this division will be judged as replacement heifers and should be fed and fitted accordingly. 6. Each exhibitor must be able to show their heifers unassisted. Heifers will be shown at halter and proper showing paraphemalia for the exhibitor is encouraged. Exhibitors will be allowed to groom the hair, brush the hair forward, up, or down, and clip the body hair. No grooming aids except soap and water must be used on show day. (For example: no tail balls, no hoof paint, no adhesives, no show sheens, no shaving cream, etc.) 7. Number of classes will be determined by the number of heifers exhibited. 8. Possession date for commercial heifers will be July 1, The commercial heifers will be split by Brahman influence and Non-Brahman Influence. 10. Mouthing requirements will be determined by visual inspection of the teeth. Commercial heifers must have their front baby teeth and must have no visible evidence of the first pair of permanent teeth. If baby teeth are not evident or permanent incisors are evident they will be classified as yearlings. Heifers that mouth as yearlings, will be allowed to show in the yearling class BUT NOT ALLOWED TO COMPETE FOR CHAMPION. Additional Rules: 1. All horses must be officially registered in the same of the exhibitor or immediate family 30 days prior to the show. 2. Weanlings will be accepted in regular horse classes with papers pending. 3. Registered horses will not be allowed to show in the Grade Horse Class. 4. All horses must be accompanied by a record of negative test for equine infectious anemia (Coggins test) conducted within the past 12 months. 5. Clothing must be clean and neat. A western style shoe with a minimum of ½ inch heel can be used. A minimum of a short sleeved shirt is required. The shirt must button or snap down the entire length of the shirt.
