1 EQUESTRIAN EVENTS IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO ALL EQUESTRIAN PARTICIPANTS Freds Pass Rural Show has successfully implemented a system where Entry Passes to the Show must be pre-purchased. This alleviates the bottleneck of traffic leading into the Reserve. Passes can be purchased online at. Equestrian Vehicle Passes are only available with the purchase of a Show Membership. WITHOUT A SHOW PASS THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY TO THE SHOW GROUNDS Without an Equestrian Vehicle Pass Competitors will be unable to enter side gate to the equestrian area for parking (truck or float) and will be required to park (truck or float) in the general parking area. Refunds are subject to the production of a Vet or Doctor Certificate stating that the horse/rider was suffering a condition that would prevent them from competing. Day Passes/Entry can be purchased at the Show entry points. Day competitors will be required to park their float/truck in the general parking area unless they have pre-purchased a Show Membership with Equestrian Vehicle Pass. Horses returning from interstate or below the tick line require an inspection, supervised treatment and permit from the Stock Inspector. All Equestrian Competitors will require an Equestrian Vehicle Pass to enable them to park in the Equestrian car park. Without an Equestrian Vehicle Pass you will have to park in the general parking area. Equestrian Vehicle Passes can only be obtained with a Show Membership purchase, and can be obtained online or from the Show Office. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS 77

2 SHOWJUMPING Important Information for Show Jumping See important information to all Equestrian Participants on page 76/77 All entries are to be done via Global Entries Online ( Late nominations will not be accepted. INSURANCE LEVY: Equestrian Disclaimer is to be completed via Global Entries Online. Judge: Karen Ruzsicska (FEI 1) & Susanne Brutsch (EA 1) Course Designer: Delays: The Draw: Grading: Saddlery: TBA Show Jumping will not be delayed for competitors competing in other events at the same time. A draw will be displayed on Global Entries Online and where possible, ed to competitors. All classes will run in draw order. Grading is subject to the Darwin Show Jumping grading system and Equestrian Australia grading system. Horses entered into the wrong class will be placed on the draw as HC, where allowed. May be inspected by the organising committee, and competitors may be directed at the sole discretion of the organising committee to make their gear safe and/or to remove any gear that is not permitted, the competitor shall not be permitted to take part in any jumping events until they have complied with such directions. Dress: Equestrian Australia Summer Dress rules will apply. Jodhpurs or breeches (must be white, beige, light beige or similar in colour. Multi coloured jodhpurs will not be accepted). Jackets are optional, but preferred., lf no jacket is worn, shirts must not be sleeveless. If the shirt is long sleeved, the sleeves must be rolled down and buttoned. Riders must wear a dress shirt and business tie or a dress shirt with rat catcher collar done up (capped sleeves or variants will not be accepted). Competitors may be directed by the organising committee to change clothing that is not regulation and shall not be allowed to compete until the competitor has complied with that direction. As per the EA General Regulations, Article 122.2: Dress and Salute, the following will apply: Protective headgear must conform with one of the current approved safety standards: Current Australian standard AS/NZS 3838 (2006 onwards) provided they are SAI Global marked. New Australian standard ARB HS 2012 provided they are SAI Global marked. Current American standard ASTM F1163 (2004a or 04a onwards) provided they are SEI marked. Current American standard SNELL E2001. Current British standard PAS 015 (1998 or 2011) provided they are BSI Kitemarked. Interim European Standard VG1 (01.040: ) with or without BSI Kitemark. 4 LED, SHOW HORSE & RIDER COMPETITION RULES Important Information See Important Information to all Equestrian Participants on page 75 All entries Led/Rider/Hack to be directed to: Classes may be split if sufficient entries. Freds Pass Show Horse classes are run in accordance with Show Horse Council Australasia rules. For full completion rules please refer to ENTRIES & PAYMENTS: All entries must be submitted via Nominate: Entrants not members of NTSHA must pay day membership of $ Class cost is $6 per class for NTSHA members & $8 for non-members. INSURANCE LEVY: REFUNDS: COMPETITORS: Equestrian Disclaimer is to be completed by all competitors and forwarded with entries. Refunds are subject to the production of a Vet or Doctors certificate stating that the horse/rider was suffering a condition that would prevent them from competing. Incorrect entries WILL NOT be refunded and a $20 administration fee will be charged. All competitors compete at their own risk. PROTEST: Any protest accompanied by a non-refundable fee of $100 must be in writing, and handed to the Ringmaster, within 15 minutes of the incident. Ruling on the protest by the Disputes Committee will be final. FEED & WATERING: HEALTH: DRUG TESTING AND TREATMENT RULES: ETIQUETTE: EQUIPMENT: Whilst horses are on the Reserve the feeding and watering of them is the responsibility of the owner/exhibitor. All horses must be free from contagious disease. Veterinary inspections may be carried out at any time and horses which, in the opinion of the Veterinarian, show signs of contagious disease, shall, if the organisers so order, be removed from the Reserve by the exhibitor at his/her expense. It is the intention of the Drug Testing and Treatment Rules (Show Horse Council Australasia) all horses perform, at the time of competition, without any prohibited or banned substance/s within their system. A treatment sheet is required to be lodged to the NT Show Horse Assoc for any horse that has been administered any treatment, foreign substance, medication, drug, prohibited substance or banned substance, within 30 days of competition. Swabbing maybe conducted on a random or for cause basis. Competitors at all times will display correct manners to judges and officials. Failure to do so will result in exclusion from the remainder of the Show and further action may be taken at the discretion of the organisers. Saddlery must be in a safe condition to the satisfaction of the organisers, or the competitor will not be allowed to compete 80

5 LED, SHOW HORSE & RIDER COMPETITION RULES ILL TREATMENT OF HORSES: TIMES: CHAMPIONSHIPS: MEASURING: ATTIRE: AGE OF COMPETITORS: APPROVED HEADGEAR: LED CLASSES: JUNIOR RIDERS: LEADING REIN: SHC RIDER AND HACK AND HUNTER CLASSES: Ill treatment of horses will not be tolerated and will result in automatic disqualification from further competition. Order of events shown in the program is a guide only. It is the responsibility of competitors to ensure they are ready for any event in which they are entering. The organisers reserve the right to vary the order and times of events as they see fit. The second place getters in all classes that qualify for Champion (denoted with *) must stand-by, and the horse/ rider that placed second to the horse/rider sashed. Champion will be required for the judging of the Reserve Champion. All horses entered in classes where height is specified must have a current SHC certificate. All Height certificates must be produced to Marshall on request before entering the Ring.. To be in accordance with SHC rules. Suitable attire must be worn by all riders (jackets and plaiting is preferred in Hacking rings). Any handler or rider, who, in the opinion of the organisers, is not properly attired, will not be allowed to compete. for classes determined by age, age is at the day of competition. Riders/handlers Under 17 years of age must wear approved headgear to the current Australian (AS/NZ 3838; 1998 or European (EN 1384), or US (ASTNF 1163) standard. Riders 17 years of age and over are also permitted to wear bowlers and top hats. Horse s age as at 1 August. Thoroughbred/ASH/QH/RPSB/ Welsh/Arab Horses entered in these classes MUST have been registered. However, registration does not need to be current or financial. Copy of registration certificate to be included with entries. Only horses that are not eligible for a specific breed class are eligible for the "Any Other Breed " class. Riders/handlers Under 17 years of age are not permitted to wear long boots in rider classes and Smartest on Parade. This includes gaiters and chapettes. Junior Handlers must wear approved headgear in led classes. Pony can n/e 12hh and must be ridden by a child 3yrs and under 8 years on the day of show. Snaffle bridle only (egg butt or rings only). Attendant must fix the leading rein to the noseband; and at all times lead with the rein in the left hand; string or any aid fastened to the saddle to keep the pony's head in position is not permitted; No spurs or whips; Handler may carry a cane (not exceeding 40cm). Rider are not permitted to ride in any off-lead classes at this show. Riders must be a financial NTSHA member and Horses must be currently registered with SHC. Hacks and hunters are also required to hold a current official SHC measurement card. Winners will be eligible for Champion. SHC classes are run by NTSHA Under SHC rules & regulations. 6 LED, SHOW HORSE & RIDER COMPETITION RULES PRELIMINARY HACK, HUNTER, RIDER CLASSES: FIRST RIDDEN PONY CLASSES: HUNTER / HACK CLASSES: is one that has not been placed 1st, Champion or Reserve in an Open ridden Hack class/event at any Royal Show or has never been the Winner or Runner Up at the Grand National, any State HOTY Title or has never been the Winner of any HOTY Intermediate or Preliminary Title. Ponies are not to exceed 12.2hh, aged three years & over, ridden by a child aged 5yrs & under 12 yrs. A snaffle bit must be used (egg butt or rings only), with a cavesson noseband, a narrow strap may be attached to the front of the saddle. Cane to not exceed 40cm, no spurs permitted. Horses may only compete as either a Hack or Show Hunter NOT BOTH. ENTRY CHECKLIST: 2017 measurement certificate if entered in classes determined by a height. Copy of certificate to be submitted. Insurance disclaimer has been completed, signed and attached to entries. NTSHA Day Membership form(s) have been completed, signed & attached to entries. 9 PONY CLUB Noonamah Horse and Pony Club Freds Pass Rural Show Pony Club Rings - Rules and Regulations To compete in the Pony Club Ring, riders must be current riding members of a recognised Pony Club. Proof of membership must be presented upon request. ENTRY FEES: Pony Club Ring Events - $25.00 Sub Junior Ring Events - $25.00 Lead Rein Ring Events - $25.00 ENTRY: Entry form via nominate - CLOSING DATE: 8TH MAY, 2018 AGE: Is as on the day of Competition INFORMATION: LIABILITY: ATIIRE: LEAD REIN CLASSES: PROTESTS: All persons competing do so at their own risk. Whilst horses are on the reserve, feeding and watering Is the responsibility of the owner. A veterinary Inspection may be carried out at any time. Any exhibit showing signs of having any contagious disease will be removed at the owner s expense. FULL Pony Club Dress uniform (i.e. fawn/beige jodhpurs; (gloves optional); shirt with collar and long sleeves; tie as per competitors club tie; Pony Club saddle blanket, approved safety helmet, waistcoats or jackets. Plaiting is advised but not compulsory. All junior pony club riders (under 17yrs) must wear short jodhpur boots in competition Riders must compete In Lead Rein Classes only and must remain on lead rein at all times. They may not swap around. Those leading in this ring must be 17 years or older. Any protest must be made in writing within 30 minutes of the Incident and to be submitted to Ringmaster. Protests must be accompanied by a nonrefundable fee of $50. The disputes committee ruling will be final. DISBUTES COMMITTEE: Brian Davidge, Sophie Cleveland, CONDUCT: Pony Club riders are expected to adhere to PC code of conduct, particularly in the Interest of safety all riders MUST precede at walk at all times outside the arena. PLEASURE MOUNTS: Plain snaffle bridle, cavesson noseband only. No other sort of noseband permitted. No whips, spurs or martingales allowed. CHAMPIONSHIPS: *Denotes class winner eligible for relevant championship. Second place getters to be on standby for judging of Reserve Champion. HELMETS: At all Pony Club run events (including Pony Club Junior Ring) competitors must be compliant with Pony Club Association of The Northern Territory policies, procedures and rules MEASURING: Is not required in the Pony Club ring - however, a horse must compete in same height classes throughout the year. EVENT RULES :- This event is hosted by NHPC, and run under Pony Club Association of The Northern Territory- Handbook of Bylaws, SunSmart Policy and Gear Rules. It is the responsibility of all members and participants to familiarise themselves with the governing Rules. 85

12 HAY STACKING COMPETITION Location: Livestock judging area, Sunday 20th May 2018, commencing at am Entry Fee: Senior $21 per team, Junior $10.00 per team Entries Close: Friday 18 May 2018 Prizes: Open - 1st $100-2nd $75-3rd $50 Junior - 1st $50-2nd $35-3rd $25 Rules Open competitors must be 16 years of age or over Junior competitors must be 10 years of age and under 16 Teams comprise of 3 persons The team member who climbs to the top of the hay stack must wear a safety helmet (riding or motorcycle) Object The object is to stack up to 20 bales of hay (Open) and 15 bales of hay (Junior) to the greatest height in the shortest possible time. One team member must finish seated on the top of the highest bale and the stack must stand on its own for 5 seconds to qualify Bales must be picked up and carried (not thrown) 5 metres to the stacking area. Teams then construct the highest possible stack using as many of the 20 (15) bales as they wish. Teams may hold the stack to keep it from falling after the 5 second time limit has expired, to enable measuring Time Limits Teams will have a maximum of 5 minutes in the heats and 3 minutes in the final to construct their stack. A whistle will sound once to indicate 30 seconds to go and then twice to signal time is up. At the final whistle, teams must stop building and one team member must sit on the top bale in the stack. Judging/Finals If more than one team finishes with stack the same height (measured to the top of the highest bale), the fastest team will be the winner. The second highest or fastest teams will compete in the final The judge s decision will be final as to the height of the bale and disqualification of any team not following the rules. No extra bales will be given to any team to replace broken bales. 88
