Teamwork necessitates a strong leader, but also requires youth to be part of a team, not as a leader. Bossing around friends and family during an event, isn t being a leader. Jumping in when tasks are abundant, and knowing when to ask do you need any help?, when everyone else is helping around you, is a good leader and teammate. As we get closer to our county fair, it s important to remember that everyone in our 4-H program be willing to help each other during fair set-up, during fair events, and afterwards, even if it is out of your comfort zone. WyCo 4-H is a family, a team. We need to remember to support each other, especially during fair. Don t show livestock? That s okay; attend your friend s show. Don t enter photos? That s okay too; encourage fellow 4-Hers to go with you to the Red Barn to see what s there. This is the time for our 4-H program to shine and to let fair visitors know how hard 4-Hers have worked throughout the year on their projects to exhibit during 4-H fair classes. This is the time to encourage friends, family and community members to come see our 4-H program in full force. I am excited as we finish preparing for our 2017 county fair, and I can t wait to see you there! Sincerely, Nicole Crosson 4-H Youth Development Agent 1 P a g e

Kansas 4-H Dog Shows Closed Tunnel Update By Deryl Waldren Questions have been raised about the status of using the agility closed tunnel for 4-H dog shows during the year. While it is true that AKC has discontinued using the closed tunnel for their shows, this is not true for Kansas 4-H Dog Shows. The closed tunnel is an allowable piece of agility equipment for H dog shows. The Kansas 4-H Dog Action Team and Kansas 4-H Youth Development work closely together to administer the 4-H dog project. During a recent dog action team meeting, there was lengthy discussion concerning the use or discontinuance of the closed tunnel piece of equipment. The decision was tabled and will be discussed again at the October 2017 meeting. As decisions are made for the H year in the dog project, information will be shared in the Kansas 4-H Tip Sheet.
