In a world with competing activities, other youth programs, and life events, what makes our 4-H program stand out in the crowd? For me, it s being able to tell my story about how 4-H taught me to be a leader, to stand up for what I believe in, and that hard work, teamwork and dedication pays off. Early on, I learned that I had to make choices regarding time management, deadlines, participating in community service and fundraising activities, as well as embracing the opportunity to work with different groups and people in our community. I credit 4-H for helping shape who I am today. It s true, 4-H isn t the same as when my greatgrandmother was a 4-Her, but nevertheless it is as strong in its foundation as it was in Technology is used more often to hold meetings to accommodate family s schedules and information is found online instead of mailboxes. 4-H, much like life, will always be changing. It s deciding what attitude we will have when the change arrives, and how we continue to share our 4-H stories with the next generation to continue to make the best better in our hometown. Nicole Crosson, 4-H Youth Development Agent 1 P a g e

4 4-H Green Card Pre-Entry Workshop Join us for this exciting new addition to help the 4-H Divisions of the county fair run smoother than ever! This year, 4-H Staff have created this pre-entry system to help ensure all parts of the 4-H program run smoothly during the county fair. 4-H green cards for entries which 4-H members plan to exhibit during the fair are to be filled out during this workshop, where adults will be on staff to help! All 4-H Division entries will be due by June 14. Benefits of pre-entry, include ensuring all 4-Hers are properly enrolled, allowing 4-H Superintendents and Project Leaders to know how many entries and what type of entries they should expect for fair, and helping 4-H Staff to know if we have all the judges needed so youth have a great experience! During the 4-H Division Superintendent and 4-H Judges Meeting, 4-H Staff will share various information about our 4-H Program, consultation judging, the 4-H Rule Book, online resources and ensure that all are comfortable with the county fair! 4 P a g e

There were 10 members, 2 parents, 6 parents, and 1 visitor. The roll call response was, What are you doing for spring break or what did you do for spring break? We have 2 fundraisers that are planned. A flamingo fundraiser where we put flamingoes in people s yards and they have to pay $10 to get them out, $20 to put them in a yard of their choice, or if they are just really upset about it, then they don t have to pay anything. We will start that after Marble Days. The other fundraiser is at the new Bonner Springs Farmers Market. We will be selling whatever we can make in quantities. We will start it on May 5, Chaparral 4-H Reporter s Report by Ethan Edwards Chaparral 4-H Club met on 3rd for a bowling party at KC Bowl to celebrate our fundraiser success!
