2 NSEA Eventers Challenge Championships 2018 The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead West Sussex RH17 5NU Information for Team Managers & Parents The NSEA are very grateful to Hickstead for allowing us to use this beautiful venue, especially as the Derby Meeting and Royal International are just around the corner. Please help us make this championships a successful and happy one for all. Please read the following information and ensure all adhere to the information below: Riders are the responsibility of Team Managers / Parents at all times. They may not stay on site overnight without an adult present. The Team Manager is responsible for the conduct and welfare of their school s horses, riders and other connected parties (parents, supporters etc) at all times on the show ground. Parents please keep all children & animals under control (whether competing or not!) After 10p.m, the stable & horsebox areas should be quiet. Please be aware that horses and their riders need to rest and therefore noise, lighting and intrusion should be kept to an absolute minimum. Late night checks should be conducted prior to 10p.m. please VET on Call Sussex Equine Hospital Possible farriers Grant /Dan LORRY PARK/STABLING All horseboxes to park on the stable field. Stabling will be open from 10.30am on Saturday but no riding until 12 noon. WH Security are on site throughout the weekend. Please ensure you remain parked as requested on arrival. All temporary STABLES need to be MUCKED OUT & the remaining clean bedding banked up on the sides, leaving the floor clean to dry. Please leave your stable as you would like to find it. Please use designated muck heaps. If you are not staying on site overnight we advise you leave a contact number on your stable door. BBQs are permitted but please ensure they are off the ground and made safe after use. SATURDAY Warm up classes and 70cm Mini Derby Challenge Final (riders aged U14 on 1 st Jan 2018) Classes start at approx. 2.30pm SUNDAY AND MONDAY The secretary s office will be open at 7.30am and is situated in the Dick Sanders Pavilion near Ring 4, The Eventers Challenge Arena. HORSES ARE ONLY TO USE THE WALKWAY TO YOUR DESIGNATED RINGS AT ALL TIMES. PLEASE DO NOT RIDE ON THE GRASS OR HACK AROUND THE TRACKS AT VENUE. THE INTERNATIONAL WARM UP ARENA WILL BE OPEN FOR EXERCISING EACH DAY (NO JUMPING IN THIS ARENA). Nosebag Catering Van and the Polo Clubroom will be open from 8am. Only 8 10 competitors are allowed in the jumping warm up areas at any one time. IF SUPPORTERS ARE ARRIVING IN A CAR THEY CAN ACCESS THE MAIN SHOWGROUND AND PARK IN THE VIP CAR PARK AT THE BACK OF THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA. THIS IS CLEARLY SIGNPOSTED. THERE IS NO PARKING AT RING SIDES AND PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS. THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA IS OUT OF BOUNDS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE WEEKEND. IF ANYONE IS FOUND ON FOOT OR ON HORSEBACK IN THE ARENA THEY WILL BE ELIMINATED. IT IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING PREPARATION WORK FOR THE FORTHCOMING INTERNATIONAL SHOWS. 3 Saturday The International Polo Arena (approx 2.30pm start) Class 1 Warm up 70cm (individual only) single phase Warm Up classes will include a mixture of SJ and XC style fences. Entry Fee 15 per round Class 2 Mini 70 Derby Team & Individual Challenge Championships Riders U14 on 1 st Jan The types of jumps that may be included in the course are a series of show jumps and also could include knock down fences similar to those that are seen in the a Derby course. Teams of 3 or 4, best 3 scores to count. Entry Fee 20 per rider Class 3 Warm Up 80cm (individual only) single phase Warm Up classes will include a mixture of SJ and XC style fences. Entry Fee 15 per round Eventers Challenge Championships 2018 The course is made up of SJ & simulated XC fences and will be run in the outdoor sand arena and will be made up of approx fences including steps, banks and a water splash Riders will jump a series of show jumps and then proceed immediately into the XC phase which is run on an optimum time. NSEA / BE Eventing Rules for tack & rider equipment. There will be no style mark. Approx. 9am start each day (but we may start earlier if entries are large) Eventers Challenge National Championships Classes for pre-qualified teams & individuals only Sunday- Eventers Challenge Arena Class 4 Mini 70-75cm Team & Individual Championships (350m/m) (no age restriction) Class 5 Novice 80-85cm Team & Individual Championships (350m/m) Monday - Eventers Challenge Arena Class 6 Intermediate 90-95cm Team & Individual Championships (350m/m) Class 7 Open m Team & Individual Championships (375m/m) Teams of 3 or 4, best 3 scores to count Entry Fee Classes 4-7 = 25 per rider per round. Entries close 14 th May Stabling: please fill in the stabling form on the NSEA website Body protectors are compulsory. Hair must be above collar length, long hair to be kept in place in a hair net. Crash hats & body protectors as per British Eventing Rules 2018 for XC, no fixed peak SJ hats. In the event of a tie, the competitor closest to the optimum time will be the winner. If teams are tied, the times of the 3 best scores closest to the optimum time will be the winner.

4 Jumping penalties for Eventers Challenge are awarded as follows. No stopwatches allowed. Each team of four at the Championships must include two out of the original qualified four horse/rider combinations. However, if, in exceptional circumstances, a previously qualified team has only one of the original horse/rider combinations remaining, the School may be permitted, at the discretion of the NSEA, to substitute two new horse/rider combinations to make up a team of three Other Classes - The International Polo Arena Sunday Class 8 Mixed Height Team Show Jumping One team member to jump at each height- 70, 80, 90 & 1m. (The 70 rider must be U14 on 1 st Jan 2018) A horse/ rider combination may only compete once in a mixed height team at any single competition Teams of 3 or 4, best 3 scores to count. Single phase. Entry Fee 21 per rider Class 9 Novice 80-85cm Team & Individual KBIS JwS National Qualifier All team riders automatically count as individuals Class 10 Intermediate 90-95cm Team & Individual KBIS JwS National Qualifier. All team riders automatically count as individuals Class 12a/b 1.10m Advanced Open Individual KBIS JwS National Qualifier Single phase. This class will be split into 5a) Horses, 5b) Ponies Classes 11 & 12 Entry Fee 25 per rider Class 13 Hickstead Elite 1m Team Show Jumping National Qualifier The top 2 teams will qualify to compete at Hickstead on August 1 st 2018 Teams of 3 or 4, best 3 scores to count. 1 round, single phase. Class 14 Hickstead Elite 1.10 Individual Show Jumping National Qualifier The top 2 horses & ponies will qualify to compete in the Main Ring at Hickstead on August 1 st 2018 Individual 1.10m qualifiers for horses and ponies (separate sections) Distances will be shortened in combinations for the pony section. 1 round single phase. Your Responsibility All persons attending the event must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey instructions given by the Organiser or by officials and stewards on its behalf. All competitors and those associated with their school are the responsibility of the Team Manager whilst at the competition Child Protection & Safeguarding If you have any concerns, please contact the NSEA on tel / competition@nsea.org.uk to be put in contact with our designated Child Protection Officer. If you have immediate concerns, you can contact Childline tel or NSPCC tel TV & Photography Please note that professional photographers will be present at NSEA competitions and qualifiers. There may also be TV cameras at the Championships. Please indicate on the entry form if you do not wish to appear in press coverage/ TV or photos taken by our official photographers General information Please do not ride on the grass as this event takes place just before major competitions at Hickstead. Please ensure that you do not muck out your horsebox onto the Car Park. Take all litter home with you. All dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Any dog mess must be cleared up. Outside assistance will not be tolerated- and could result in elimination. NSEA affiliated competitors only may warm up & compete horses on the show ground All jumping courses may be raised up to 5cm from the qualifiers, at the Championships. All competitions, parents and representatives from every school must ensure that they act courteously to stewards and officials at all times. Please read the rules. Rudeness will not be tolerated. In the event of cancellation, you entry will be refunded on receipt of a sae, less 5 per cheque admin fee.
