2 CATTLE: Prime Cattle : 21 forward A disappointing yarding and trade to match. Complete lethargy apparently brought about by negative news reports relating to red meat but buyers cautious of any numbers what so ever. Top Steer today from Richard Fountaine at 214p/kg with others 200p/kg with top gross 1420 to Barry Osbourne for a heavy fed South Devon. R Grades 190p/kg plus Heifers today to 220p/kg from Parry Walters with others from Terry Kennealy 202p/kg taking top gross at Trade though very sticky.. Auctioneer: Tom Wrench Calves : 10 forward A little show of very dairy sorts but buyers all around. Sussex Heifers to 155 and 150 whilst Black and White Bulls topped at 105 and 102 for M J Sharlot. Auctioneer: Tom Wrench Suckled Calf Show & Sale : 665 forward Today saw our ever expanding fixture of the Annual Suckled Calf Show and Sale. Buyers from all around are welcomed to Stoneleigh off the back of the sheer quality of the majority of stock penned. Numbers shorter than advertised due to TB testing and or other issues, but still a full yarding met a fast trade with 10 month old Steers to Our thanks to the two judges this year Mr David Benson and Mr J Masters, Henley in Arden. Our thanls also to the vendors staff and most of all to the continued support of the various breed societies. Results as follows

Seemingly tightening kill grids encouraging the purchase of best bred shorter finishing sorts. Averages for the day making good reading and seeing 350 Steers average 806 with 315 heifers average 697. We started the days trading with Cows and calves from BJ Smith seeing 2010 units with 4 month old calves at foot to 1660 with other older cows 1640 and And then on to the Calves which represented a wonderful show albeit noticeable this year that a number of younger heifers seemingly rushed from their mothers and perhaps best split a few moths further down the line. We started with a real bang seeing 4 month old Charolais Heifers from JC Bostock and Son at 770 before strength and weight from Messrs C & A Morley saw Charolais Steers at 7 months to a smart 900 with other pens at 895 and 850. Sisters to the same taking 790 at 7 months. H Smith & Son, Stratford upon Avon visited to take 860 and 845 at 7 months with Charolais. New to this ring W H Robinson & Son took 800 for Charolais Heifers at 6 months before Dave Bull showed youth of only 4 5 month Charolais Steers to 850!! Plenty of trade for Natives also with Hatton Farms selling Angus Steers to 850 at 10 months. First of the Limousin Steers from JD & K Stephens took 850 at 8-9 months of age. This year a marvellous run of over 100 suckled calves from the Friswell boys. Steve and Elaine showed 77 to average just shy of 800 topping at 1055 for a pen full of quality Lim Steers at 10 months with two other pens at 960. And younger 8 month old Steers to 930 and 900. Roland Sherratt sold 7 month old Charolais to 935 for a pen full with Sisters 785. Smart sorts from Ian Birden saw Limousin to 890 at 7 months and Sisters 850!. Quality as ever from Stratford upon Avon vendor T G White seeing Limousin Steers to 900 at 7-8 months whilst brothers made 840. Next in and topping the day saw a single marvellous Steer from B J Smith at 10 months of age at 1100!!!!. A pen full to follow saw Steers to 935 with Sisters 915. CBE Price showed Pure Limousin Steers to 870 at 7 months with others 860 whilst pure heifers took 800. Pete Jarrom, Lutterworth travelled to show marvellous Steers at 8-10m at 875 with others younger 810. Steve and Jo Wagstaff brought quality grading Blues to us to take 850 at 10 months. Edd and Anne Hull up from Essex another week on the trot and met a swift trade to see Calves done on Marsh land take 800 for two pens with pen after pen 785 to 780. Blondes few and far between but shape at 6-7 months from Messrs Alderman & Son 800 for Steers. A swift trade that would be called fair with trade according to quality, start to finish. 4 SHEEP: 2,246 forward Prime Lambs: 1426 forward SQQ p/kg Over 1400 lambs yarded today but some not meeting the mark returning home to leave over 1300 sold. Trade today once again and for the third week in a row a massive improvement on those returns posted in the middle of the previous week. Today an Sqq of p/kg a marked improvement on the end of last weeks trading. On comparison with other centres though seemingly the best data shown for the heavy section with our returns over 140p/kg 10 to 12p above national. That is not to say that poorer backed Middle to Heavy weight lambs are not very hard to shift. In the Euro Spec lambs a top of 187p/kg for a pen full of Beltex from Pete Batchelor who also sold 40kg lambs at 175p/kg. R W H Fenemore showed 35.5kg Beltex at 170p/kg with IPG Farms at 166pkg. In the heavies a top PPK of 162p/kg for 53kg Beltex from Richard and Judy Fountaine who also had 156p/kg for 50kg Charolais. Ben Burton struggled in on his crutches to take 154p/kg for 47.5kg Beltex. Euro top gross today to Alex Yardley showing 45kg Suffolks at 71 whilst Graham Bell had 44kg Texels at and Pete Batchelor 70 for 37.5kg Beltex. Overall a good 96 top today for a pen of Ram lambs at 80kg from Mr Tait, Worcester. J P Page, Banbury had 86 for 60kg Charolais whilst Richard Fountaine had 86 for wonderful grading 53KG Beltex. Trade is what it is and all we can do is try to continue to have the best of it as we are. A aisle full of buyers all with genuine end user jobs. Auctioneer: Tom Wrench

6 Store Lambs : 468 forward Just shy of 500 through the Store lamb ring today met another marvellous trade if a pound or two less than previous weeks. Heavy framed Suffolk lambs topped at for Pete Burgess whilst Northamptonshire vendors Messrs P T Harris took 59 for Charolais at half meat. Mid to short keep lambs trading 59 to 50. Mid keep lambs trading 43 to 50 and only the very very small 43 to 35. Cull Ewes : 352 forward 350 Ewes today and as with everywhere the post festival Hangover continues. Lean meat looking the easiest sold but with a yarding of 80% plus Mules today an average of 57 respectable. Top today for Mrs Thomas selling Texals to 87 ahead of Messrs Fyfe and their Suffolks at 79. J C Colegrave, Banbury returned a second week to take 77 for Lleyn Ewes. Top Mules for the day 73 for Messr Underwood, Towcester. A lot of very small Welsh Ewes or Rare Breed in the averages today acting to slow the days averages. Auctioneer: Tom Wrench
