11 Local 4-H Club Adopts the Toledo Ronald McDonald House... Again! On Saturday March 31st the Rockin Ranchers 4-H Club of Monroe County, Michigan delivered 45 Easter baskets and 450 lbs. of can tabs to the Toledo Ronald McDonald house. The Easter baskets were put together by the 4-H members during their March meeting. Each basket contained a chocolate rabbit, a stuffed animal, crayons, chalk, coloring book, frisbee, bubbles and candy. The baskets were delivered by Ronald McDonald House on Easter morning to children whose families are staying at the house. The children are the siblings of patients at the Toledo Children s Hospital. Siblings sometimes feel left behind in the chaos of having a sick brother or sister and the 4-H Club wanted to share some happiness with them. The club has been collecting beverage can tabs for a few years now. It s been two years since they last donated. Over the course of the past 24 months the club collected 450 pounds of tabs. That s a lot of pop tabs! The Ronald McDonald House recycles the donated tabs for money. These funds cover much of the food budget for the 750+ families that stay there every year for free. Rockin Ranchers 4-H Club members are involved in the whole spectrum of agriculture-related activities that most relate to 4-H. They would like the community to also know that 4-H ers participate in community service projects, communications, science and the arts. Written by James Eldredge, age 12 (Rockin Ranchers 4-H Club of Monroe County) Thank you to all Agriculture Awareness Day Volunteers! 2018 Agriculture Awareness Day was a success, and we appreciate all the help from our club members and volunteers during this event. We reached over 850 1st through 4th graders and countless adults through this event! Special thanks goes to the Dundee FFA Chapter, Monroe County Farm Bureau and the Monroe County Fair Association for their efforts on this event as well. Thanks again and we look forward to working together again next year.
