MEET INFO PACK Xavier High School is proud to host the Xavier Invitational Track & Field Meet Thursday, April 19, :15 p.m. We welcome your school as a participant in the Xavier Invitational track & field meet. This year we will again use a fully automated timing system for entries and results. All entries will be handled on-line. Entries must be done at under Xavier Invite. 1. Deadline is 11:59 pm Tuesday, April 17. Changes or substitutions may be made thru that time. 2. Scratches only (no additions, no changes, no replacements) are to be made at the Coaches Meeting. 3. Each team is allowed one entry in each relay event and 28 individual event entries, with a maximum of 3 entries in individual events the same as the WIAA entry rule. See the HELP section of for instructions or help with the on-line entry process. Athletic Directors Edge at will seed the meet, as well as POST online all heat sheets and flight sheets, and results as soon as they are available. Info may be printed by coaches, athletes or spectators from that web site. Two booklets will be available for each team at the Coaches Meeting. Booklets will not be made available on-site for spectators or athletes. Results will be announced on-site over the PA. Site: Rocky Bleier Field on the Knights of Columbus Sports Complex track, at Xavier High School, 1600 W. Prospect Ave., Appleton, 2 miles east of Interstate Hwy 41 at the Prospect Ave. / Hwy BB exit. See the map. The facility opens at 2:00 p.m. the day of the meet. There is major road construction and a detour south of Appleton... on Hwy & Hwys /41. See XavierHawksSports.com for directions. Admission: There is no admission fee for spectators. Use the main gate, located at the southwest corner of the facility off the main parking lot west of the school. Bus parking: near the street along the south end of the main parking lot located west of the school, or, on a city street. Do NOT park or load-unload along the fence, near the track; inform your bus driver, please! 2 MEET DETAILS 2018 Xavier Invitational Track & Field Meet Awards: A 1st place plaque will be presented to the boys and girls champion teams after the meet. A gold medal will be given for first place, a silver medal for second, and a bronze medal for third place. Award envelopes will be given to the coaches in the press box at the conclusion of the meet. Bull Pen: Located at the large tent on the northwest end of the track, near the 0 start. Hip numbers will be available in the Bull Pen. Tell your athletes: Obtaining a hip number is not the same as checking in with the Clerk. Coaches and spectators are not allowed in the Bull Pen. Athletes failing to report will NOT be called over the PA. Coaches Meeting and Workers Meeting: At 3:45 p.m. in Shed A near the track on the day of the meet. Concessions: Items will be sold by the Xavier Booster Club from the brick building near the main bleachers. T-shirts are not available. Restrooms are available near the concession stand. Facilities / Spikes: Xavier has an eight-lane rubberized 400-meter track. One-quarter (1/4) inch pyramid spikes or smaller are allowed on the track and runways. The shot put and discus circles are concrete. Starting blocks will be provided. Spikes will not be sold at the site. Field Events: 1. Long Jump & Triple Jump: preliminaries, 3 tries via open pit from 4:15 to 5:15. Then 8 to finals, 3 tries. 2. Shot Put & Discus: Flights for preliminaries, 3 trials. Then 8 to finals, 3 more attempts. 3. High Jump & Pole Vault: opening heights will be determined at the Coaches Meeting. 4. "Five Alive" will be used for high jump and pole vault, if the number of entries warrant. 5. Participants are responsible for checking in with their Field Judge before the field event begins. 6. Competitors in all field events have a 15-minute check-out rule. 7. Time limits will be enforced; inform your athletes. 8. Scratches in field events can be made at the Coaches Meeting or at the venue. 9. The other gender event will begin 15 minutes after the finals are completed for a respective event.. Pole vault poles will be checked in at the pole vault venue starting at 3:30 p.m. 11. The starting height for pole vault and high jump shall be determined by using the eighth-best qualifying height and then subtracting two increments. The meet manager reserves the right to alter the starting heights. Implement Check-In: All implements to be used in the shot put and the discus MUST be checked in, verified and marked by meet workers in Shed A... at the south end of the track... from 3:30 until 4:00. Any implement not approved may be picked up from Shed A AFTER the conclusion of the entire meet. Miscellaneous: Coaches, non-participating athletes, and spectators will not be allowed in the restricted areas. They will need to stay outside the fenced-in area of the track. Coaches and spectators are not allowed in the Bull Pen, on the infield (except at high jump) or on the track once running events begin. In the shot put, discus and pole vault, athletes may NOT warm-up unless one of your coaches or the field event judge is present at the venue. Running Events: All runners in open events will be assigned a hip number. Only anchor runners in relays will be assigned a hip number. Qualifying from trials to finals will be the winner in each heat, plus the next fastest times from any heat until all eight lanes are filled. Sections will be conducted in the remaining running events based on the best times. Scoring: Team scoring for the 8-team meet will consist of 8 places ( , relays ). Scratches only (no replacements) will be allowed the day of the meet. Timing & Results: We will use the fully automated timing system of Athletic Directors Edge for the meet. Results will be announced over the PA and available on-line at adetiming.com as soon possible after the meet. Tents: Any tent may only be set up on the grass area outside of the NORTH CURVE of the track, or, in the far NORTHWEST CORNER of the facility north of the large bleachers, or, under the main bleachers. Camps may not be set up on the infield or in other restricted areas. See the map. Trainer: An athletic trainer from Ascension Sports Medical Group will be available on the infield during the meet. 7 MAJOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION / DETOUR near Xavier High School 1600 W. Prospect Ave., Appleton Xavier is about 2 miles east of Interstate Hwy 41. Please share this info with your bus driver and spectators. (1) TO XAVIER -- via Hwy & Hwy The "marked" detour on Hwys & is the green arrows. However, it is much faster to use the RED ARROW route to get to Xavier via Hwy & Hwy south of Appleton. All ramps TO northbound 41 are closed at the / 41 exchange. When going to Xavier, use the RED route of County CB & County BB (in the city, BB becomes Prospect Ave.) rather than the very lengthy, marked detour. (2) FROM XAVIER -- via Hwy 41 to Hwy & Hwy Ramps are open FROM 41 southbound to eastbound / and westbound. When going from Xavier, use Prospect Ave. to Hwy 41 southbound
