1 HELLENIC REPUBLIC MUNICIPALITY OF RETHYMNO SPORTS DEPARTMENT Address: Melina Mercury Indoor Hall Information: Skouloudis Napoleon PC Tel./Fax: Εmail: 9th RETHYMNO CITY RACE A: 10K Road race Β: 1K Road ace for children and disabled people C: 5K Road race RUN WALK ENJOY THE CITY OF RETHYMNO The Municipality of Rethymno and the Sports Department have organized three (3) road races for athletes, non-athletes, children, disabled people and Special Olympics athletes under the auspices of the Rethymno Regional Unit in collaboration with SYN POLIS (ΣΥΝ ΠΟΛΙΣ) in order to provide more opportunities for sports activities. 1. DATE: SUNDAY, MAY 13 th, PLACE: RETHYMNO 3. STARTING AND FINISH LINE: Agnostou Stratioti Sq. 4. REGISTRATION: For the Α 10K road race eighteen (18) years and older. For the C 5K road race 10 years and older (before 2007). For the Β 1K Kids race from 7 to 14 years old (before ) To register in 10K, participants must be at least 15 years of age (born in 2002 and earlier). To register in 5K, participants must be at least 12 years of age (born in 2006 and earlier). To register in 1K, participants must be children (born in 2008, 2007, 2006) and disabled people and/or Special Olympics athletes regardless of age. Younger children can register if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. 5. ENTRY FEE: For online registration: 5 euros for the 10K race 5 euros for the 5K race free for children, disabled people and Special Olympics athletes

2 For registration on Saturday, May 12 th, the entry fee is 10 euros for the 10K and 5K. A percentage of the revenue will be donated to SYN POLIS for charity. Syn polis ( is a non-profit volunteer organization of active young people from Rethymno who volunteer supporting social and cultural causes and promoting citizen well-being. The entry fee can by paid by making a deposit to the following bank account: EUROBANK ΙΒΑΝ:GR , Account holder: SYN POLIS (ΣΥΝ ΠΟΛΙΣ) When you make the deposit, make sure you give your full name as the reason for the deposit and, subsequently, send a copy of the bank receipt to this sports.rethymno@gmail.com. IMPORTANT: For your participation to be considered valid, you must pay the entry fee within 4 days of sending in your participation form. You can also pay the entry fee by credit, debit or pre-paid card. Those who pay and don't take part in any race will not be refunded the five (5) euro entry fee. Participants are responsible for any bank transfer charges. Runners in 5K & 10K races receive a race packet with: Chip race number Safety pins for the race number T-shirt 6. REGISTRATION: You can register online using the Municipality of Rethymno website or The registration forms must be sent before Friday, May 11 th at 14:00. Those who register before Friday, May 4 th, will receive a race number with their printed name. All participants can retrieve their race packet from the Sports Department at Melina Merkouri Indoor Hall on Saturday, May 12 th, 2018, from to On race day (Sunday 13/05/2018) runners who don't live in Rethymno can retrieve their race packet at the starting line from 08:00-09:30 a.m. for the Α', B', C' races. After the Β and C races, there will be an award ceremony for the first teams (schools, associations, gyms etc.) with the most participants. PERSONAL ITEMS You can give your personal items to the organizers at least 30 minutes before your race (until 09:30 for the 10K and until 11:15 for the 5K) at a deposit area at the start at Agnostou Stratioti square. For safety reasons, runners will receive their bags after the race, by showing their race number to the volunteers. 9. The estimated time for the 10K race is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Water stations: Water stations provide water during the race and at the finish line at Agnostou Stratioti square.

4 Medical care: Volunteer Samaritans, Rescuers and Lifeguards of Rethymno, a doctor and an ambulance will be at your disposal throughout the race. Β) 1K Road race for children and disabled athletes: Starting time: 10:15 a.m. Race distance: Agnostou square (starting line) - Arkadiou St. Petychaki St. - Eleftheriou Venizelou St. - Agnostou square (finish line). Runner's info: All participants will complete the total race distance only by using physical activity (bikes are not permitted): RUN or WALK or RUN + WALK (at their own pace). Aid station: There is a water station at the finish line (Agnostou Stratioti square). Medical care: Volunteer Samaritans, Rescuers and Lifeguards of Rethymno, a doctor and an ambulance will be at your disposal throughout the race. The primary focus of the race is to get children involved in running and to enjoy participating. The race is not competitive; therefore, there is no timing or classification. All participants are winners and all children receive a medal and a participation certificate at the finish line whether they run or walk.

Wheelchairs are permitted for people with physical disabilities taking part in the race and baby carriages for mothers who wish to walk the race distance.

Runner's info: All participants will complete the total race distance only by using physical activity (bikes are not permitted): RUN or WALK or RUN + WALK (at their own pace). 6 All the participants will receive a medal, a certificate of participation and a T-shirt. Α road race 10K: The first three men and the first three women of the following categories that complete the race will receive a trophy: 1 st Category- General Men (1 st,2 nd,3 rd ) 2 nd Category- General Women (1 st,2 nd,3 rd ) The first three will receive a medal (gold, silver, bronze) in the following categories: 3 rd Category 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd man from Heraklion 4 th Category 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd -//- from Chania 5 th Category 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd -//- from Rethymno 6 th Category 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd -//- from Lasithi 7 th Category 1st, 2 nd, 3 rd woman from Heraklion 8 th Category 1st, 2 nd, 3 rd -//- from Chania 9 th Category 1st, 2 nd, 3 rd -//- from Rethymno 10 th Category 1st, 2 nd, 3 rd -//- from Lasithi For the categories 3 rd to 10 th there will be an award ceremony if at least 10 athletes participate in the race from each city. C road race 5K: The first three men and the first three women of the following categories who complete the race will receive a trophy: 11. PHOTOS: 1st Category- General Men (1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd ) 2nd Category- General Women (1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd ) Only volunteer photographers have the right to take photos of the race. Any other photographer who wishes to take photos must ask for permission from the organizers. 12. MEDICAL EXAMS: All participants should have a medical exam before the race. In any case, all runners participate at their own risk and the children with their parents' or guardians' consent. The organizers are not responsible for whatever happens to the runners related to health issues 13. AFTER THE RACE After the race all runners should walk to the finish following the volunteers. Medical help and water is available at the finish line. All runners receive a medal.
