4 PROTON HSN21KM RUNNERS GUIDE 2017 PAGE 2 FOREWORD YB KHAIRY JAMALUDDIN Minister of Youth & Sports Malaysia I would firstly like to commend Muse Group Asia for successfully organising the inaugural Proton HSN21KM Run in Last year, we saw fantastic participation of 6,217 runners across 3 distances of 21km, 10km and the 5km fun run. I expect to see greater participation in its second edition. Hari Sukan Negara was officially announced by Yang Amat Berhormat Dato Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia on 24 March Hari Sukan Negara is held on the second Saturday of October annually and is a step towards transforming Malaysia into a Sporting Nation. Hari Sukan Negara will also serve as an avenue to unite Malaysians. This spirit was clear to see during the recent Kuala Lumpur Our able-bodied athletes had their greatest ever performance with 145 gold medals, and our differently abled athletes showed us that we really have no excuses in becoming the best versions of ourselves. In this spirit, I call all Malaysians to support and celebrate Hari Sukan Negara 2017 in any way possible. It can be as simple as a run around your neighbourhood, a game of football with your friends or the Proton HSN21KM Run. Just get out there and do something! I would like to recognise and thank the HSN21KM sponsors, especially Proton, who have played a great role in supporting this event. We need more events of this nature, and need everyone coming together in our quest for Malaysia to become a Sporting Nation. I hope that the high standard set last year is maintained this year. From its humble beginning in 2016, it has grown quickly with 10,000 runners in the second year this year. 6 PROTON HSN21KM RUNNERS GUIDE 2017 PAGE 4 INTRODUCTION TO PROTON HSN21KM Hari Sukan Negara is celebrating its 3rd anniversary this year and MUSE Group Sdn Bhd is delighted to be part of this national initiative by bringing back the 2nd instalment of HSN21km. Hari Sukan Negara falls on the second Saturday of October every year and this year it will be on the 14th October proves to be a special year for this young half marathon event for a number of reasons. After a strong showing in 2016, Proton Edar Sdn Bhd has decided not only to continue its association with HSN21km but to upgrade its sponsorship from Presenter to Title Sponsor, making this year s instalment officially known as the PROTON HSN21KM. Secondly, we are delighted to see a significant increase in the number of registered runners for this year s PROTON HSN21KM We close registration at just shy of 10,000 runners, meeting our target for This is especially special on the back of unprecedented a 60% increase in participation - in the spirit of Hari Sukan Negara, we are heartened to see more Malaysians picking up their running shoes and becoming part of the national transformation to make Malaysia a sporting nation. We have worked hard with our sponsors to deliver over RM600 in each of the Race Pack, in the form of discounts and rebates. 8 PROTON HSN21KM RUNNERS GUIDE 2017 PAGE 6 You will receive the following after completing the Run Finisher Shirt for 21km Medal with accompanying lanyard Results (21km and 10km runners only) E-Certificate of Participation (with personal timing only for 21km and 10km and this is only accessible via website) Please note that it is solely at the Organiser s discretion to award medals and/or Finisher shirts if the runners do not complete their route within the allocated time. 3.2 What To Bring When collecting Your Race Pack We try to make your Race Pack Collection as seamless as possible. To do so, please produce the following supporting document(s) when you collecting your Race Pack. Registration Confirmation Slip, either in hardcopy or show us on your mobile devices Your identification card or any official document to verify your identitiy 3.3 Race Pack Delivery For those who have opted for their Race Pack to be delivered, delivery will commence from 2 October onwards. Date of Receipt might differ depending on location of delivery in Malaysia and availability of recipient at time of delivery. The Organiser will provide the airway bill number to those who opted for Race Pack delivery via . Runners are advised to track their package upon receipt of this airway bill number. Runners might need to contact the courier company directly if their package do not reach them despite the Organiser s best efforts to provide the package tracking information. 3.4 Pic2Go Pic2Go is brand new technology in Malaysia and PROTON HSN21KM 2017 is pleased to be the very first running event in the country to introduce this. With the use of state of the art technology, runners will be able to experience the convenience of having their personal running photos taken during the PROTON HSN21km delivered directly to their respective Facebook's timeline. Upon receipt of the Race Bib, runners can simply log in to and follow the step by step guide to activate the Pic2Go service. Upon activation, all your running photos taken during the run on 14 October will be forwarded directly to your Facebook timeline. From the timeline, you can then decide who you want to share it with. This service will thus save you the hassle of scrolling through and trying to find your run photos from the thousands that will usually be uploaded onto the official social media platforms.

Key in your bib number (after deducting 1000 off your number), into the PIC2GO widget. Eg: If your bib Number is 3990, please key in 2990 into the PIC2GO widget. Follow the step by step instructions. You are now linked to the PIC2GO system for PROTON HSN21KM Your running photos at the event will now be sent to your respective Facebook pages after the event. Don t forget to smile!! For those who have opted for the Race Pack Delivery, do activate your Pic2Go before you arrive at the event. You can do so from 2 October onwards when Pic2Go widget will be active. All these photos are brought to you absolutely free of charge, courtesy of our Title Sponsor - PROTON! All that is required is for you to bring out your radiant smiles when you spot our photographers while running along the designated route or when back at Dataran Merdeka. 11 PROTON HSN21KM RUNNERS GUIDE 2017 PAGE 9 PROTON HSN21KM RACE DAY INFORMATION 4.1 How To Get There The PROTON HSN21KM 2017 will be held at the iconic Dataran Merdeka. As this is a night race, many roads leading to Dataran Merdeka will be closed or partially closed nearer the flag-off time. We highly recommend participants to arrive slightly early and to take public transport where possible. Coming by train The most convenient way to get to the Dataran Merdeka via public transport is by getting on any of the three train lines that runs through the Masjid Jamek station. Walk towards Jamek Mosque from the station and proceed to the corner and towards the Dataran Merdeka. If you are Driving Simply WAZE/GOOGLE MAP Dataran Merdeka and follow its instructions. There are ample parking spaces in and around the Dataran Merdeka (see map in 4.4.2) If you GRAB Key in Dataran Merdeka, wait for your pickup and off you go.

12 PROTON HSN21KM RUNNERS GUIDE 2017 PAGE Special Arrangement With GRAB This year we have a special arrangement with GRAB, who is our Official Public Transportation Partner. Participants will enjoy discounts of RM8 each trip when they use GRAB services before and after our race. The LRT will not be extended beyond its normal operating hours for our race. There are 3 designated GRAB pickup points you can head to and call for a GRAB driver. Just look out for the GRAB signage and join the queue for your ride. Do arrive early in order to secure parking slots nearest to the venue. Expect some delay when leaving your parking space due to the large turnout for the PROTON HSN21KM PARKING MAP Performing your prayers (for Muslims) To our Muslim friends, you can perform your prayers either at Masjid Jamek or to prayer hall at the Dataran Merdeka Underground. Due to the large expected crowd, we urge you make your way to the masjid or prayer hall early to perform your prayers and make it in time for your designated flag-off.

Runners who are unable to complete within the stipulated time will be picked up by our designated buses. Medals and Finisher T-shirt for 21km will not be given out to runners unable to complete the run within the cut-off times. The Organiser reserves complete discretion in not awarding Finisher Shirts to any runners they feel did not complete their runs in a legitimate fashion FRONT T R I H S R FINISHE 21KM 4.15 BACK Medical Assistance Medical assistance is available at the Start/Finish area as well as every 2KM along the route. Medical Officials are authorised to stop any runner from continuing their run 4.16 Care For Your Personal Belongings Your personal belongings are to be left in the Luggage Canopy (please refer the venue layout) and a luggage tag will be issued by the officers. This tag must be presented in order to re-collect your belongings. Bring the barest minimum in personal belongings to the event. Do not leave fragile or valuables in your bags Evacuation Protocol In case of an emergency requiring mass evacuation, please proceed to the field adjacent to the starting point. Runners are to assemble there until further notice from the Organiser.
