But for a couple of Saturdays (5 & 12 Mar), I will not be available to meet & greet at the La Purisma Mission Visitors Center. Please consider helping out with the Trettin Run on Saturday, 12 March, at the Cabrillo High School or participate in the 5K Run/Walk as part of your HM training. I will be working at the Finish Line with timing & results. Everyone please inform any runners or walkers you meet that the Half- Marathon & 5K has moved from September to June, 4 th, due to limited dates to reserve the course & facilities. The Mission didn t have any dates in July, August, or September. Event Director, Betty Lee, is in need of volunteers and participants. Registration online or through the mail will be avialble soon! 3 SUNDAY, MARCH 13, 2016 (8:00 A.M.) - WINE COUNTRY 1/2 MARA- THON, 5K, & KID S GRAPE STOMP: PASO ROBLES. The race will start and finish at River Oaks Hot Springs & Spa, 800 Clubhouse Drive, just off Highway 46 a few miles east of Paso Robles. The course takes you over rolling hills, through picturesque vineyards, and along the Salinas River. After the race, enjoy breakfast, music, a raffle, and the awards ceremony. All runners receive a tech T- shirt & Breakfast. The male and female winners of the half marathon win their weight in wine. Commemorative wine glasses to all half marathon finishers and awards to the top three in 13 age groups in both races. The half marathon begins at 8:00, (walkers at 7:15 am) the 5K at 8:15 and the kid s Grape Stomp half mile for ages 10 & under at 9:15. Entry fees are $75 for the half marathon, $40 for the 5K, and $20 for the kids by February 28 and $85/$45/ $20 after that. The race web site is and registration is through SATURDAY, MARCH 19, 2016 (8:30 AM) HEALTH AND EXPO CHC S IN- SPIRED 5K, MADONNA INN, SAN LUIS OBISPO. The SLO Health and Fitness Expo 5K takes you along the Highway 101 Bike Path up to Madonna Mountain & back up to the Alex Madonna Expo Center. This run affords you beautiful views of the hills and pastures of San Luis Obispo over a distance of 3.1 miles. The run begins and ends at the Alex Madonna Expo Center in San Luis Obispo, CA; preregister through ACTIVE.COM or register at 7:00 am, the race starts at 8:30am. Pre registration is $25 or $30 on race day. You do not have to be a serious runner to participate; we encourage all walkers and runners who are comfortable on trails to come out to celebrate health and fitness while enjoying the healthy lifestyle fostered on the Central Coast. SLO MARATHON 205 Suburban Rd #6 San Luis Obispo, CA SUNDAY, MAY 1, :45 AM AVENUE OF THE GIANTS MARATHON, HALF MARATHON & 10K RUN. As noted by Runner's World Magazine, The Avenue of the Giants Marathon is one of the most scenic courses in the country. Staged on "The Avenue of the Giants" in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, located in rural Northern California, the paved course winds through giant old growth redwoods. Fees for this event are: $90 Marathon, $80 Half Marathon, and $60 10K. This includes a T Shirt and a finishers medal for all who complete the course in the allotted time which is 7 Hours Marathon, 6 hours Half Marathon, and 3 hours for the 10K. Awards for the Marathon include $100 prize for first overall Male and Female, and they also receive $900 from the RRCA Championship race, plus age group awards. 5 WEDNESDAY MAY 4, 2016 WEDNESDAY AUGUST 31, 2016, 5:00 PM. NITE MOVES, 5K RUN, SWIM AND BIATH- LON. SANTA BARBARA NITE MOVES -. Leadbetter Beach, 801 Shoreline Road Santa Barbara, CA. Family evening at the seashore built around a 5K Fun Run. Options now include two aquathon distances: (1)The traditional 1K swim and 3.5 mile run. (2)The new beginners 500 meter swim and 1 mile run. Also a 2000 meter Open Ocean Swim has been added. The basic 5 K footrace,a kids Mile and a Soft Sand Sprint for the small children round out the events. Post Race events include live music, food sampling and soft drinks and adult beverages, bib drawing door prizes and a variety of vendors throughout the summer. LETR is a worldwide organization that raises money and awareness for Special Olympics. This event is open to the public and is a fund raiser for Special Olympics. Money is raised through entry fees and sponsorships. These events take place entirely within the La Purisima Mission State Park. The course is closed to automobiles on dirt and asphalt trails. Both events will start at 10:00 AM. Registration will start at 9:15 to 10:00 AM in the Tule Village. It is located approximately ¼ of a mile northwest of the Visitor s Center next to the Chumash huts & a large oak tree parallel to a service road. CITY OF SANTA MARIA ROCK THE 80 s 5K & YOUTH MILE. PIONEER PARK, SANTA MARIA. This race takes place at Pioneer Park at 1150 West Foster Road in Santa Maria. The event takes place rain or shine. The 5K for ages 14 and up)starts at 9:00 AM and is an out and back course through neighborhoods and Pioneer Park. The kids mile for ages 6-13 begins at 9:45 AM and loops through Pioneer Park. Fee is $20 through March 10, 2016 and $25 afterwards. Deadline to register is March 17, Fee includes an event shirt. Limited day of registrations. The course is hilly and very scenic with majestic views of the La Purisima Mission. Race day packet pick up and race day registration starts at 6:30. There will be no packet pick up prior to Saturday. Entry fees to be determined, entry includes a specially designed Valley of the Flowers jersey.
