1 SCOPE OF WORK, SAFETY METHOD STATEMENT & RISK ASSESSMENT Prepared for:- Date:- Work Scheduled:- SCOPE OF WORK Carry out installation of flow meters / pressure sensors. Installation of flow meter procedure - Access to the area will require the use of ladders which will be checked and secured prior to use. - Any existing flow meters installed will be visually inspected prior to removal. A safety chain will be installed to retain the flow meter in position as the retaining nut is removed. - As the probe exits the compressed air pipe work the isolating ball valve will be closed to prevent release of air to atmosphere. - The Flow Meter will be positioned within the ¾ ball valve inlet to the compressed air pipe work. This will be secured by safety chain. The valve will be opened and the flow meter inserted. The retaining nut will be secured and safety chain locked in position.

2 Safety Issues/Possible Risks Risks to personnel The risks to personnel are due to release of gas and release of swarf. Other risks may be present depending on the position of the measurement point eg heat, working at height etc. Risk Gas Gas & Swarf Preventive measures A safety chain is installed to retain the flow meter probe within the pipe work should the retaining nut be removed. When clearing the swarf from the valve a tee piece with silencer is used to collect the swarf where appropriate. Support required Access The use of ladder work will be required.

3 SAFETY METHOD STATEMENT All work carried out on site will be undertaken by factory trained Service Engineers. Work will be carried out in accordance with our quality procedures, instruction manuals, health & safety policy, environmental policy and your site conditions for contractors. Permits to Work will be requested before commencement of work. The Service Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the relevant Permits to Work and other authorisations. All tools and equipment used by our Engineers will be in good operating condition and calibrated and tested in accordance with our quality procedures and any applicable statutory requirements. The following PPE is issued to all our staff and is regularly maintained and inspected:- Safety footwear Safety goggles Safety glasses Safety helmet Hearing protection Inspection gloves Protective overalls Torch First Aid Kit

Drive vehicles within site speed limits and obey all signs and designated routes. Personnel to receive or have received Site Induction Training. Report to Site Engineer. Work permits to be obtained prior to entering work location. Risk Assessment Electric Shock Other Power Sources Trained personnel. Work permits to be obtained. Lock off procedures Rack out fuses./test equipment. Use warning notice when working on unit. Do not allow untrained personnel within vicinity. Isolation to be carried out in accordance with Permit to Work, site regulations and Statutory regs. Compressed Air:- Isolate before removing any item of pressurised equipment. Relieve pressure in a safe manner. Warn others in vicinity of any planned release of air pressure. Water:- Awareness of location of water pipes within vicinity. Steam: As above.
