3 SHORT COURSES Many of our short courses are accredited by leading awarding bodies, which means you ll be gaining a nationally recognised qualification. FIRST AID HEALTH AND SAFETY CIEH Food Safety - Level 2 Cost: 60 Duration: 1 day Ideal for those who require a firm grasp of the importance of food safety, this course will provide knowledge of essential systems, techniques, procedures and food safety risks including personal hygiene, food storage, cooking and handling. Qualsafe Emergency First Aid - Level 3 Cost: 68 Duration: 1 day Need the skills to effectively manage a first aid emergency? Participants will develop skills including communication and casualty care, bleeding, choking, burns, seizures, shock and fainting. They will also cover Health and Safety (first aid) regulations, learn to carry out adult CPR and how to care for an unconscious casualty. Qualsafe First Aid at Work - Level 3 Cost: 188 Duration: 3 days over 3 weeks Designed to equip staff with the skills to handle complex medical emergencies including head and spinal injuries, strokes and heart attack. This course also provides comprehensive training in asthma, bone, muscle and joint injuries, poisoning and severe allergic reactions. Qualsafe First Aid at Work (Re-Qual) - Level 3 Cost: 140 Duration: 2 days over 2 weeks This refresher course is designed for those who have previously completed a Level 3 first aid course but need to update and refresh their knowledge. Qualsafe Paediatric First Aid - Level 3 Cost: 140 Duration: 1 day Aimed that those who work with babies and children, this course will equip participants with the skills to respond to choking, bleeding, burns/scalds, sickness, fever, bone, muscle and joint injuries (including spinal), head injuries, meningitis, seizures and anaphylactic shock. It also teaches how to care for patients suffering from heat exhaustion or hypothermia, who have swallowed something harmful or who are unresponsive.

4 LANDBASED HEALTH AND SAFETY NPTC Transporting Animals by Road (Short Journeys) Cost: 40 (per endorsement) Duration: 1 hour (to sit online test) This test can be taken for: Sheep Cattle Poultry Game Birds Cattle and Sheep Pigs Horses Goats ARBORICULTURE NPTC Manually Fed Wood-Chipper Cost: 280 Duration: 2 days, plus an From risk assessment and servicing machines to ensuring safe use and completing safety checks, this course will provide participants with the practical skills and knowledge for safe working practice. NPTC Chainsaw Training (CS30 and CS31) Cost: 800 Duration: 5 days, plus an This course is designed to provide participants with skills in chainsaw maintenance, felling small trees, snedding and processing. The course also covers safe use, risk assessment and legislation. NPTC Occasional Chainsaw User Cost: 350 Duration: 3 days, plus an From risk assessment and maintenance to pre-start checks and preparation for felling trees, this course provides participants with crucial skills for the safe use of chainsaws. Chainsaw and safety equipment for all of our arboriculture courses are provided but participants must provide their own chainsaw boots. PESTICIDES PA1 (NPTC Pesticides) (delivered in conjunction with either PA2 or PA6 training below) PA1 will explore legislation and risk assessment for the storage and use of strong pesticides. It equips participants with the skills and knowledge to maintain equipment, ensure the safe disposal of pesticides and ensure effective record keeping. PA1 and PA2 (Tractor Mounted Sprayer) Cost: 500 Duration: 3 days, plus an From determining potential hazards to maintaining and cleaning equipment, this course will enable participants to effectively prepare and use tractor mounted sprayers. PA1 and PA6 (Hand Held Applicator) Cost: 400 Duration: 3 days, plus an From determining potential hazards to maintaining and cleaning equipment, this course will enable participants to effectively prepare and use hand held applicators. NPTC Safe Use of Pesticides Replacing Grandfather Rights Cost: 195 Knapsack Sprayers. Cost: 240 Tractor Mounted Sprayers. Cost: 350 Knapsack and Tractor Mounted Sprayers Duration: Home study with assessment completed at South Staffordshire College* This course is for anyone born before 1st January Participants will learn the principles of safe handling and pesticide application and gain knowledge of legislative requirements. The course will also cover the safe use of appropriate equipment, the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the control of hazardous substances. *assessment can be completed on own land for additional cost

There is a 30 charge to claim your card. Many contractors and clients demand proof of competence before allowing workers onto their sites via the CSCS card scheme. The card is valid for 5 years. Award in Installation and Maintenance of Solar Photovoltaic Systems - Level 3 Participants will develop an understanding of the requirements of solar photovoltaic systems and how to install, commission, inspect, service and maintain small scale solar PV systems. Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pump Systems - Level 3 Participants will learn about the requirements of and how to install, commission, inspect, service and maintain heat pump systems (non-refrigerant circuits). Gas Safe Accreditation COMING SOON This training is part of an assessment scheme and must be completed by anyone working in the Gas Installation and/or Gas Maintenance sector. Successful completion is necessary for anyone wishing to register with Gas Safe Register or work for a Gas Safe Registered company.
