You re required to have appropriate measures in place and ensure that a sufficient number of employees are trained to deal with situations when they occur. Two St John Ambulance qualifications are approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for the provision of first aid in the workplace: First aid at work: A comprehensive three-day course Emergency first aid at work: A one-day course. Every workplace is different so it s vital to ensure that the training your first aiders receive is appropriate to your needs. Call Assessing your first aid needs It s vital that you carry out a comprehensive first aid needs assessment for your workplace at least once a year, and after anything has changed with your workplace, work practices or personnel. While AED units are very simple to operate, and no previous first aid training is required, this four-hour course gives people the confidence to act quickly and effectively in an emergency.
