The annual picnic and initial trip sign-up was a huge success with125 members present on a beautiful summer day at the Indianapolis Sailing Club. A big thank you to Richard and Lois Surber, Jim and Vicki Robinson for chairing this event as well as to Joan Naffziger for obtaining the venue. Items of Club interest include a new on-line ordering system for Indianapolis Ski Club logo gear, continuing meetings and investigation with local marketing firms to enhance Club exposure and awareness, a partnership with Sun Valley Ski and Sport Shop to be located in Castleton (The Indy Ski Club will be provided a private Grand Opening party on Thursday October 6 th, details to follow), Penrod Arts Fair September 10 th (volunteers still needed), possible hosting of a Warren Miller film Friday November 18 at the Indiana Historical Society on the canal, including a mini-fashion show and ski club gear display (caveat is trying to find a sponsor to defray costs and be able to distribute proceeds to a local charity..help!), and Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce events. I think we are making progress; it is just going to take a consistent effort to put the club on the Indianapolis map. Make your Club a fun experience; attend the events, volunteer, mentor and invite new members hand those business cards out and ask for more. And be sure to renew your membership this month!!!
