2 PRESIDENT S REPORT Well looks like I made it to the end of the year. To say that we have been busy again is to say the least, possibly right. I have been asked by many groups for assistance and some we have helped and some we haven t, some with varying depths of pleasure. We took on the Hill climb noting that we would not do food unless we were positioned at the pit s area; Sea Scouts, Pizza man and coffee van had that sewn up. I did speak to the 2IC and said that next year we would really like to put one of our vans in, he said that they would look favourably on that. Louise and I did the car park, that will be 2 hours I won t get back, but we were there when asked. The vans have been out and busy and I thank those who put in to clean and then those who gave up their Sunday for Festival of Waters, great work everyone. We have had some very ill members lately but I am very pleased to say that they are progressing very well. Get well everyone. Great to have Pam back on deck. Sheila s board exec, have already met and planning is well underway for her year. It will be great to see as many as possible at change over remember to CHRISTINE, not me. So till next report (That will be the final one.) See Ya Chris

6 King of the mountain Hi Chris and Graham Michael Egan here, from the King of the Mountain committee. In past years your clubs have helped with volunteers to help us run the KOM. I am hoping you can do the same again this year. The main day is Sunday July 22. On that day, starting at 7am, we need help with race marshalling, selling raffle tickets, fairy floss and donuts and general duties. Also, if anybody is available we have a pull down and pack up session starting about 4pm on the Sunday. As well, if anybody is not available on the Sunday and would like to help on the three days preceding that, Thursday 19, Friday 20 and Friday 21, we need help with some reasonably physical stuff, driving star pickets and putting up poles and fencing. On the Monday 23 following we need help to pack everything up. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks again Michael Egan Festival of Waters R Helpers Peter Jack & Phil

7 The Noosa Festival of Water on the shores of the stunning Lake Macdonald in the Noosa Botanic Gardens provides something for all ages to enjoy, with live entertainment, water activities, kids' fun, information on how to protect and care for the unique ecological and environmental attributes which make Noosa such a special place to live and visit. Bring along your boardies and a towel if you want to make use of the calm waters of Lake Macdonald to learn to kayak and standup paddleboard. The Creative Kids Marquee with activities focused on caring for our land and water in the Noosa Biosphere is a great place for kids and parents to spend an hour or more. For a chance to win a prize, keen anglers of all ages should register now for the Catch and Release Bass Fishing Competition which kicks off at 6.30am on the day at Mary River Cod Park in Collinwood Road. The Festival offers a rare opportunity to visit the Gerry Cook Hatchery and learn how wild populations of the Mary River cod, one of Australia s most endangered freshwater fish, are being restored. You can reach the hatchery by road or take a free boat trip across the Lake from the Botanic Gardens to Mary River Cod Park and back. Be entertained throughout the day by fantastic local artists and experts in the magnificent Grecian-style Amphitheatre. 10 LCIF Newsletter Lions, my time as the chairman of Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has been an experience I ll never forget. In my travels, I ve witnessed such strong character in Lions, something that does not surprise me, but is still incredible to see in action. Selflessness, perseverance, dedication, and compassion are the words that come to mind when thinking about the character of a Lion. I want to extend my gratitude to all Lions. The life-changing service projects we perform would not be possible without you. I am consistently in awe of your outstanding dedication to service. The world is a better place because of your efforts, and it does not go unnoticed. Speaking of making the world a better place, LCIF now has even more ways to empower the service of Lions. We re launching two new grant opportunities, Leo Grants and District and Club Community Impact Grants, which you can read more about on LCIF.org. We re also expanding our global causes to include diabetes, childhood cancer, the environment and hunger in addition to sight, youth, disaster relief and humanitarian service. All of this will be made possible by our most ambitious capital fundraising campaign yet. I encourage you to watch for more information soon on how you can be a part of this effort and empower the service of Lions. As I reflect on the last year, I feel confident that Lions will continue to lead humanitarian causes with strength, compassion, and urgency. Remember where there is a need, there is a Lion. Whether your own community needs a helping hand, or a community across the world is in need, Lions can work together to change someone s life for the better. Sincerely, Chancellor Bob Corlew Chairman, Lions Clubs International Foundation We re making a difference Lions are changing the world one community at a time By addressing needs at home and around the globe We are 1.4 million men and women who believe kindness matters And when we work together, we can achieve bigger goals 202f
