AQUATICS RECREATIONAL SWIM The Riverbank Community pool is located at the corner of 7 th and Stanislaus Streets. The pool will open Monday, June 1, 2015 for recreational swim. HOURS: Monday Thursday 1:00 3:30 pm Saturday 12:00 4:00 pm FEE: SWIM PASS: $2.00 per person $60.00 (individual) $ (family of 4) is $20.00 Swim pass does not guarantee admission. Pool is closed when guard capacity is reached or water chemistry needs adjustment. REMINDER: All swimmers MUST wear swim suits! (No street clothes, shorts, or cut offs) RIVERBANK BARRACUDA SWIM TEAM Tryouts for the swim team will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 10:00 am. Those already on the team do not need to tryout again. All swimmers MUST be able to swim the distance of the pool with a freestyle stroke (25 yards) unassisted and any other skills required by the team coach. Practice will begin Monday. June 1 st and end July 31, 2015 A parent meeting will be Monday, May 18, at the Community Center gazebo at 6:00 pm. Registration deadline is May 29, You may register online at

5 FEE: $ for 9 weeks session $ for each additional family member ADDITIONAL: A team swim suit (Black and Green) and swim goggles must be purchased. A team t-shirt is also available and forms will be available at the parent meeting. Scholarships are available, applications available at the Recreation office. SWIM LESSONS Swim lessons are offered in two week sessions that run Monday Thursday. Each session is taught for 40 minutes. Instructors will test on the first day of class to confirm each child is placed in the correct level. FEE: $50.00 resident $55.00 non-resident CLASS RATIO Tiny Tots: 1 instructor per 4 students Beginner: 1 instructor per 6 students Adv. Beginner: 1 instructor per 8 students Private lessons can be arranged through the Recreation Department depending on the instructor availability. The cost is $ for 8 days of lessons and a half an hour in length. PARENT/BABY This course is designed for the 6 month to 36 month old baby. A parent or both parents learn to assist their child in water adjustment with the guidance of an instructor. Swim diapers are required and a parent is required to be in the water. TINY TOT (pre-school 3-5 years old) This course is designed for the child who is ready to swim. This is an introductory course that will help your child feel comfortable in the water as well as introduce them to basic water safety and swimming skills. Parents remain out of the water for this course. BEGINNER (Levels 1-3, ages 6 and above) The beginner classes are designed to progress from Level 1 to 3. A student placed in Level 2 class, must perform the skills for Level 1. This requirement continues from level to level. ADVANCED BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE These courses are for the more advanced swimmer. Skills learned in Level 3 will be practiced to build swimmer confidence. Stroke refinement includes additional guided practice. Swimming distances are required to build endurance. These courses require additional pool space so are only offered at designated times. There will be a $5.00 fee for cancellation and/or transfer once registered. Please be sure to choose the correct time, level and session. 6 CAMPS/ CLASSES The City of Riverbank offers a wide variety of day camps. Each camp includes a camp shirt. To ensure that you will get a shirt, please register at least 2 weeks prior to the camp start. Scholarships are also available, inquire at the Recreation Department. HIP HOP CAMP WHEN: June 1-5, 2015 WHERE: Cardozo Gym - TIME: AGES: 6 9:00 am to 12:00 noon 6-12 years of age FEE: $55.00 Do you know what popping is? How about what a Boogaloo is? These are terms that Hip Hop dancers use and practice daily! We can teach you too! Join us for this minicamp and learn to hip hop! A camp shirt will be provided. Please bring a snack and water. ENCLOSED TENNIS SHOES are a must. Anyone wearing flip flops or sandals will not be allowed to participate! Parents are encouraged to leave. OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMP SESSION 1: June 8 12, 2015 SESSION 2: July 13-17, 2015 TIME: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm WHERE: Burney Pavilion at Jacob AGES: Myers Park 6-12 years of age FEE: $90.00 Come and enjoy the GREAT OUTDOORS! Can you do an Ollie? A Flip Kick? A Casper? Come to this camp and you will learn how! HELMETS, KNEE PADS, ELBOW PADS and WRIST PADS ARE A MUST! Camp includes a camp T-shirt. Space is limited! SUMMER FUN and SCIENCE CAMP WHEN: June 22 26, 2015 WHERE: Cardozo Gym/Community Pool TIME: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm AGES: 6-12 years of age FEE: $90.00 Come and enjoy a wide variety of fun experiments and scientific challenges. Also learn water safety and enjoy swim instruction. Children will also enjoy time in the pool in the afternoons. The morning will begin at the Cardozo Gym, off to the pool after lunch, then back to the gymnasium in the afternoon. Please bring a sack lunch, water, swim suit, towel, and sunscreen! CHEERLEADING CAMP WHEN: July 6 10, 2015 WHERE: Cardozo Gym, TIME: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon AGES: 6 12 years of age FEE: $55.00 Two bits-four bits-six bits a dollar - All for Cheer Camp stand up and holler! Learn the basics of cheerleading. Learn basic cheers to get your team going! All campers MUST WEAR enclosed shoes. No flip flops or sandals will be allowed. Any camper wearing these will not be able to participate! Please bring a snack and water. Campers will get a camp T-shirt. They will learn basic Karate moves in a fun but challenging structured environment. PARENT PARTICIPATION IS A MUST. (Uniform GI s are available for $30.00 from the instructor) GMMA Olympic Style Tae Kwon Do-MA WHEN: Saturdays WHERE: Cardozo Gym TIME: Beginner- 10:15 to 10:55 am Advanced-9:40 to 10:10 am Tae Kwon Do is an art that has evolved by combining many different styles such as linear movements of Karate, flowing circle techniques of Kung Fu, and native kicking techniques of Judo and Kung-Fu. It has been incorporated mixed martial arts and Muay Thai techniques. It is a continuing program with a black belt as a goal. (Uniform GI s are available from the instructor for $30.00). Help make decisions, develop parks and facilities, plan events, and participate in fundraising activities. Originally designed for self- defense, many people practice T ai Chi today for health reasons. T ai Chi improves strength, balance and concentration and brings numerous health benefits, such as better circulation, digestion and mental acuity. The slow and graceful movements produce a feeling of relaxation, well-being and joy. Each class will begin with a slow set of movement focusing on 1-3 movements at a time. 12 Park Facility Development Update SILVA PARK PHASE II The City of Riverbank has completed the plans for phase II at Silva Park. Installation of a restroom, gazebo and cement table tennis tables will begin in September, A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held soon after and we will kickoff the fundraising efforts for the water park that will be part of Phase III of the development. Anyone interested in assisting with the planning and fundraising for the water park should call Sue Fitzpatrick, Director of Parks and Recreation at JACOB MYERS PARK The Friends of Jacob Myers Park and the City of Riverbank are seeking grants for increased parking and an amphitheatre at Jacob Myers Park. As grants and funding are secured we will move forward with these projects. RIVERBANK SPORTS COMPLEX Phase II will include a picnic area, BMX Park (no track but a park similar to a skatepark), and a recreation area. Phase II will begin as soon as funding is secured. RIVERBANK DOG PARK The dog park task force has been formed and are working on this project. If you would like to assist with choosing the site and designing the park, please call Park Reservations Call the Recreation Office at for park availability and costs. Reservations can be made at 6707 Third Street. JACOB MYERS PARK Located off Santa Fe Road, over the bridge to the left, along the Stanislaus River. Amenities: large gazebo, playground, wedding gazebo (available for rent), finger park (bring your own small toy cars), picnic area, open space, restrooms, bicycle and pedestrian trail and group camp area. No Jump Houses are permitted at this park. COMMUNITY CENTER PARK Located at 3600 Santa Fe St. This park offers a playground and gazebo. This park is near the Riverbank Community Pool. Jump Houses are allowed with permit. CASTLEBERG PARK This park is located at Eighth and Kentucky and offers a playground, large gazebo area, baseball/softball diamonds, basketball courts, restrooms, and pedestrian walkway around the park. Jump Houses are allowed with a permit.s RIVERBANK SPORTS COMPLEX Located at 2119 Morrill Rd. The Sports Complex has a soccer field and a football/ soccer field that can be reserved on a first come first serve basis. A concession stand is also available. There are lighted fields.
