POOL CLOSURES The facility is equipped with a Thorguard Lightning prediction system. If the alarm sounds, the facility will be cleared. We will make every attempt to re-open when all clear is given. At the manager s discretion, the facility or attractions may be closed if the attendance is low, a raincheck or refund will not be issued if the facility closes due to low attendance. 1. Inclement weather (lightning, tornado, thunder, etc) will cause the pool to be closed for 30 minutes following the last sighting of weather. 2. Air temperature below 68 degrees 3. Hinsdale Avenue (630) /99 The Hinsdale Community Swimming Pool facility features a 50 meter pool with 25 yard L shape design depth from 3.5 to 5 feet, and a diving pool with drop slide and two one-meter and one three-meter diving boards. The wading pool area includes a zero depth walk-in wading pool with water play features and sand play area. A separate sunbathing area, bathhouse with locker rooms and a concession area is included. Noon - 6:00 pm General Pool Rules and Regulations Everyone entering the facility must have a valid pool pass to be swiped or pay the daily admission. No Exceptions. All residents using the pool on a daily basis must offer proof of residency (driver s license, library card, and/or utility bill) or pay the non-resident rate. Proper swim wear must be worn in the water, no cutoffs, shorts or street clothes are permitted. The facility is smoke free. Smoking is not permitted inside the facility and must be done off pool property. Only children 7 years and younger are permitted in the wading pool. If your child is not potty-trained, the Department of Public Health requires that a swim diaper and plastic pants must be worn. Disposable diapers are strictly prohibited. Please do not change babies on the deck. Persons under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by someone 15 years or older. Glass or other material that might create hazardous conditions or interfere with efficient operations of the swimming pool shall not be permitted in the park. The Hinsdale Parks & Recreation Department and its staff are not responsible for damaged, lost or stolen valuables. Coin operated lockers are available. Do not bring valuables to the pool. Toys are permitted in the wading pool. The use of toys is prohibited in the lap pool for safety reasons. The use of rafts and flotation devices is also prohibited. Life jackets commonly known as Personal Floatation Devices (PFD s) with a Coast Guard rating of Class III will be allowed in facility if worn properly and with adult supervision. Parents must be within arms length of a child using a PFD. For their own safety, no person may ride the slides with children in their lap. Children may not wear Personal Floatation Devices while riding the water slide or using diving boards in the diving well. All persons visiting the pool must conduct themselves in a manner so as not to cause harm to self, others, or to interfere with the lifeguards on duty. No running, boisterous or rough play is permitted. Persons violating any personal conduct regulations, either written or verbal, will be subject to eviction without a refund or other disciplinary action. Lost and found articles will be kept for one week and then donated to charity. Whenever additional rules or regulations are deemed advisable for the protection of the health and safety of the patrons, the management shall put into effect such rules, either printed or verbal. Exceptions to the rules are only allowed with permission from the management. 11

Are you looking for a great new idea for a birthday party without the setup, cleanup or mess? Try having one at the pool! Our special transitional 3 & 4 year old ONLY lessons will be a perfect fit for you! Parents are encouraged to be in attendance but not necessarily in the water. Each level is designed to channeling the students with new swimming skills. A certificate is issued upon successful completion of each skill level. Swim Lessons are held Monday through Thursday in two-week sessions. All lessons are held at the Hinsdale Community Pool. The student must be able to demonstrate each skill to move to the next level. Each child is tested to determine the level they start at. Makeup day due to inclement weather is Friday. Register your child for the time slot only that you want. The levels will be assigned on the first day of lessons. Indicate the last level that your child passed if you know it on the registration form. All classes close at 12 noon the Thursday before the next session starts. 6 Village of Hinsdale Parks & Recreation SWIMMING LESSONS NEW! Water Polo Camp The exciting sport of Water Polo is coming to Hinsdale this summer! Learn the fundamentals and understanding of water polo in this fun, recreational camp. Participants will learn basic skills like ball control, game play, passing, set-up, and shooting. This camp is for swimmers who are comfortable in the water and looking to learn new skills. In order to participate, you must be able to tread water for at least 1½ minutes and swim 50m without touching the bottom of the pool. Semi-privates are 2 children per instructor. Instructor will split the lessons among children or teach a blended lesson based on the skill level. Lesson packages can be split among family members. Buy more and save! Private lessons will be available for instruction from June 12 August 12. Parents must give 24 hours notice when cancelling a private lesson or they will be charged for a lesson. Time will be deducted from the lesson if a participant arrives late. Pool members must purchase private lesson passes at the Parks and Recreation Office. They are not sold at the pool. Private Lesson passes are good for the 2017 season only. A pool membership is required for the lesson or the daily fee must be paid. Upon purchasing your private lesson passes, the Swim Lesson Coordinator will contact you to set up your lessons. Please allow up to one week for the Coordinator to find an instructor. The instructor will then notify you to set up your first lesson. Lesson books are non-refundable and good only for the current season. This is your unique chance! Our Junior Guard program is set up for youth who aren t quite old enough to become lifeguards yet, but still want to learn the skills and the experiences. Rescue Breathing, CPR, AED, Water Rescue, and Surveillance Skills will be covered. You will even shadow one of our lifeguard staff! All participants will receive a Junior Guard t-shirt. 7 Village of Hinsdale Parks & Recreation DIVING LESSONS Diving Lessons All level divers welcome, from beginners to competitive high school divers, these outdoor dive sessions on both 1 and 3 meter spring boards will provide a place for divers to learn and improve upon their diving skills regardless of their level. The last day of lessons will be a mini dive meet to demonstrate your new skills! Parents welcome to attend. She began her diving career at age 13 in her hometown of Davenport, IA. She competed one-meter springboard in high school and both one-meter and three-meter springboards for a club team throughout high school. She spent every summer during her high school years at Indiana Diving Camp, where she dabbled in diving off of the ten-meter platform and synchronized diving. She went to DePaul University and dived for 3 years on their NCAC Women s Swimming and Diving team; she competed on both one-meter and three-meter springboards. During her college summers, she was a counselor and coach at Kanakuk Kamps in Branson, MO, where she coached diving and gymnastics for kids ages After pursing her Masters in Social Work at Loyola University Chicago, spending time focusing on her career as a Mental Health Clinician and growing her own family, she went back to coaching diving at Northside Diving Club in Chicago, IL. She coached kids ages 6-17, beginners to competitive high school divers, from August 2014-April She is now coaching dive clinics and dive lessons at Hinsdale Community Pool for summer Summer Aquatics & Recreation Programs

8 Village of Hinsdale Parks & Recreation SWIM TEAM HINSDALE TOWN TEAM STINGRAYS Registration Deadline: June 12 Refunds for Town Team will not be issued after June 16 NO exceptions Coach Brian Powell, this will be his 5 th summer coaching the Hinsdale Stingrays. He was a 4-year varsity swimmer at Hinsdale Central where he was on a state championship relay which was also the fastest public high school relay in the nation that year. He also helped lead the team to a state title in He currently is a student at Southern Illinois University studying mortuary science. If he is not at the pool, you may find him babysitting, with his family, at church, or trying out new food. He also enjoys desserts, doing puzzles, and traveling. The Hinsdale Town Team is a member of the West Suburban Swim Conference, which swims recreationally with 8 other nearby towns. Swim meets are held both home and away. The conference is divided into two divisions: A for more experienced swimmers and B for less experienced swimmers. A meets are held on either Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings and B meets are held on either Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings. The season will end with a conference championship meet for both divisions and a team party. Please inform coaches as soon as possible if your child cannot make any meet, including the conference championship. Please Note: Participants on the Town Team must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted and be at least 5 years old. Participants who do not meet this requirement will be refunded. This program is designed as an introduction to competitive swimming, not swimming lessons. Time Trials will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 10:30 am in order to place swimmers into the A or B division. Times are based on skill level. Each division practices at different times Monday Thursday. See below for those times. Parent volunteers are required for home meets.
