3 REGISTRATION Each player must pay their annual NAGVA membership dues and sign the waiver before playing. Absolutely NO TEAM is allowed to play their first game until registration is complete. Any team in violation of this can forfeit those games played prior to the completion of registration. OFFICIALS Each team is responsible for the full officiating crew for pool play matches as assigned. If you do not have a NAGVA Certified Referee, your team will have to pay $40 (cash) per match on Saturday to have a certified official fill in as the 1st Referee. All tournament games on Sunday will have certified USAV referees. If you do not have a certified scorekeeper, your team will h a v e t o pay $40 (cash) per match to have a certified scorekeeper fill in, including Sunday. Assigned o f f i c i a t i n g teams a r e responsible for the support crew (second official, scorekeeper, line judges). Officiating assignments will be done to keep things moving (winners may officiate some games and may be on a different court). GAME RULES USAV Rules will be enforced All NAGVA rules and regulations will take precedent Decisions of the Tournament Committee are final All players must compete during Saturday s pool play to be eligible for tournament play on Sunday. Teams are not allowed to change divisions for tournament play. Forfeits will be strictly enforced if a playing or officiating team is not ready at the start of a match. A playing team that is not on the court at the end of the 5 minutes warm-up period and ready to begin play will forfeit the first game of the match (you can only call time outs if you have a full roster). N ext game will follow 5 minutes after that. An officiating team that is not ready to begin the match at the end of the 5 minutes warm-up period will be penalized by having one WIN taken away and one LOSS added to their overall record. POOL PLAY Begin as scheduled at 8:00 a.m. Timed; 40 minutes plus 5-minute warm-up; 2-minute warning (no time outs/substitutions other than libero after) 2 games to 25 points; start scoring at 4; win by 2 but cap of 27 All matches end when 45 minutes elapses; if in a middle of a play, finish the point. No ties if tied at the end of 45 minutes, play 1 deciding point. Clock only stops in an event of a serious injury. Officiating team is responsible for monitoring time and keeping the matches moving. Please respect and comply with the Court Monitor s directions. The 5 minutes warm-up begin immediately at the end of 40 minutes. All captains are responsible for verifying results before leaving the playing facility. TOURNAMENT PLAY Double elimination tournament begins at 8:00 a.m. Seeding will be posted; all teams are responsible for knowing their OWN start times. Some winning teams will be asked to officiate in place of a losing team to keep matches moving along. Matches will follow each other immediately upon completion of the prior match. The tournament committee will only be responsible for posted information. Winner s Bracket Best two (2) out of three (3) games. First two games consist of 25 points, starting at 4; win by 2 and cap at 27. If needed, the third game consists of 15 points; win by 2 and no cap. Consolation Bracket One game to 25 points starting at 0; win by 2 points and no cap.
