Tonight the Panthers are set to host current OVC east division leader Morehead State (12-6/4-0), as the Eagles come to town having won ten straight, while Eastern looks to snap a recent nine-match skid. QUICK SET ON EIU: Freshman setter/rightside hitter Abby Saalfrank continues to lead the Panthers behind 141 kills (2.27 kps), while also ranking second in total assists with 248 (4.00 aps) and total points at She has also secured an impressive four triple-doubles this season, which is the lone OVC player to do so this season. Junior outside hitter Reynae Hutchinson follows with 134 kills and owns the third best point tally with She also leads all current Panthers with 20 career kill-dig duo-duo performances. Seniors Emily Franklin and Alison Berens have chipped in identical 118 kills from the outside and middle attack, respectively, as Berens sports the squad s top point mark with 167.0, a team-high 49 blocks and ranks second in aces with 18. Freshman Marah Bradbury leads the offense with 329 assists (5.31 aps) and owns one of the best serves with 25 unreturnable shots from behind the serving line. That ace currently ranks third in the OVC. Defensively, freshman Stephanie Wallace and sophomore Kelsey Brooke are one-and-two in digs with 177 (3.16 dps) and 176 (2.84 dps) ups, respectively. SCOUTING THE EAGLES: The outside hitting duo of senior Ellie Roberson and junior Aryn Bohannon lead MOR offensively with 223 (3.84 kps) and 208 (3.15 kps) kills, respectively. Bohannon also sports the top service game with 25 aces, while Roberson owns the OVC s top kill tally in both overall and league-only contests. Sophomore middle Laura McDermott currently leads the entire league in OVC-only matches with a.424 overall attack behind 99 kills. Senior middle Annie Gruenschlaeger follows with 169 kills and a.309 attack. In addition, she has made her presence known at the net with 84 total blocks, including 18 solo stuffs. THE EIU/MOR SERIES HISTORY: Tonight s match will be the lone regular-season meeting between the two league foes, as EIU is a member of the OVC west division and MOR competes on the east side of the league. Last fall, the two squads were both victorious on the road as the Panthers swept the Eagles in a three-set shocker (25-16, 25-22, 25-22) down in Morehead, Ky. In that match, EIU nailed a season-high 16 blocks to limit MOR to a low.070 attack, while the Eagle loss accounted for the lone regular-season league defeat for the defending OVC champions. That crucial win also helped Eastern snap a nine-match losing streak to MOR, yet the Panthers still continue to enjoy a all-time series lead over the Eagles. PANTHERS IN THE OVC TOP TEN: Freshman Abby Saalfrank is ranked in the OVC Top 10 with a ninth place mark in hitting percentage with a.298 clip overall. Sophomore Kelsey Roggemann is also ranked 9th for hitting in OVC-only matches at.257. Sophomore Kelsey Brooke is ninth in digs in league-only contests behind a 4.64 digs-per-set mark. Senior Alison Berens and newcomer Marah Bradbury both rank in the OVC Top 10 for aces, with respective No. 3 marks for overall and league-only matches. UP NEXT FOR EIU: Home league action continues tomorrow afternoon, as the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky come to town for a 2 p.m. OVC battle here in Lantz Arena. Prior to tonight s match at SIU Edwardsville, EKU is 4-10 overall and own a 1-3 league mark. Since the Colonels also compete in the OVC east division, the two Eastern units will meet just once during the regular-season slate. The Panthers and Colonels are currently tied 16-all in the all-time DI series history, while EKU has won the last nine matchups over EIU, although four of the last five meetings have actually gone the distance to five sets.
