Mandy Dolph, Lauren English, Kimmy Gardiner, Abbie Higgins, Micaela Spann and Madison Ward will all be playing their final home match as a Sooner. About the Sooners... The Sooners come into the matchup overall and 5-9 in Big 12 play. Senior middle blocker Micaela Spann is first on the team and second in the league swinging.368 for 2.52 kills per set. Marion Hazelwood is second on the team at.314 and 2.63 kills per set and a team-leading 1.17 blocks per set average. Sophomore setter Audrey Alford dishes out an average of assists per set, good for second among Big 12 setters. As a team, Oklahoma ranks first in the Big 12 in kills per set with and second in hitting percentage at.253 and second in assists with per set. Scouting the Bears... Baylor is tied for third in the Big 12 at 20-9 overall and 8-5 in league play. Redshirt -junior outside hitter Katie Staiger leads the Baylor offense on a.271 attack rate, while averaging 5.61 kills for the Big 12-high. Senior Morgan Reed controls the Bears offense with an average of assists per set and 1,048 on the season. As a team, the Bears are second in the Big 12 in opponent hitting percentage, holding their competition to an attack rate of.170. The Sooners own the all-time series against the Bears, Oklahoma has won 13 of the last 15 matches dating back to 2008, winning eight straight against the Bears from 2012 until October 22, when Baylor bested the Sooners in Waco. Micaela Spann registered her fourth match of the season without an attack error against Texas Tech (11/12). She hit.533 with eight kills in the win. In 15 of 24 matches played, Spann has notched two errors or fewer. She has hit.500 or better on eight occasions, including a season-high.818 with nine kills against UT Martin (9/2). Last time out, Spann bested her career-high for kills in a match with 16 at Kansas State (11/16) and hit.394 despite three errors. Fan Appreciation Record... Oklahoma picked up a three-set win over Texas Tech at home on Saturday. It marked the third win for the Sooners in four matches on Fan Appreciation Day, which occur on the dates of home OU football games. Since 2013, Oklahoma is 11-3 in such matches. Sooners Dig It... Oklahoma is the only team in the league with two players among the Big 12 s top-10 digs per set leaders. Outside hitter Kimmy Gardiner is tops on the Sooners back row with 3.44 digs per set that ranks ninth in the conference. Rachel Manriquez is 10th at Oklahoma last had a libero-outside hitter combo on the Big 12 leaderboard in 2013 when Taylor Migliazzo ranked fifth at 3.94 and Keila Rodriguez eighth at Playing Like an All-American... Marion Hazelwood is a two-time AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, as well as the 2014 AVCA Southwest Rookie of the Year, through her first two full seasons. Over the course of Oklahoma s six matches against AVCA Top-25 teams, Hazelwood hit an impressive.367 and averaged 3.24 kills per set. She has hit.400 or better three times and set a career-high in kills with 19 against No. 4 Texas (9/28), while hitting.500 with two errors on 34 attacks. Keepin it Entering the week, OU ranked in the top-50 in assists per set (31st), kills per set (33rd) and hitting percentage (45th). Spann The Home Crowd... The Sooners hosted No. 4 Texas in front of a crowd of 1,874 at McCasland Field House on September 28. It marked the seventh largest home crowd in program history. Each of the Sooners last four home matches against the Longhorns ranks in the top-10 for home attendance. Oklahoma hosted its second fourdigit home crowd of the season against No. 4 Kansas (11/5) with 1,052 fans in attendance. For the season, OU has totaled 9,365 in attendance; 635 away from a seventh straight season with 10,000 fans or more at McCasland. Game Warden... Redshirt-senior outside hitter Madison Ward was racking up the kills and appeared on track to be the next Sooner to reach 1,000 career kills until a recent hip injury at Texas Tech (10/12). She has totaled 197 to date this season, including a season-best 22 against Mississippi State (9/3), but has recorded just six since posting 18 in back-to-back matches at (10/7-8). Ward s career total stands at 959, putting her 41 away from becoming the 14th player in program history to reach the 1,000-kill mark. She has also totaled 703 digs and 195 blocks in 106 matches played. Coming Off a Day Off... Under the current structure of the Big 12, since TCU and West Virginia joined the league for the 2012 season, Oklahoma has played 18 matches following a bye in the conference schedule. In those matches, the Sooners are 10-8, including a perfect 4-0 mark in 2014, with three such losses this season; at home to Texas (9/28), on the road at Baylor (10/22) and at home vs. Kansas (11/5). Nine Sooners earned First Team recognition, while two earned Second Team honors. Micaela Spann became the first three-time Academic First Team selection since Sallie McLaurin ( ). Kimmy Gardiner followed up a 2015 Second Team honor with a First Team spot and Lauren English appeared on the First Team after a Second Team nod in Doubling Up Again... Kimmy Gardiner notched her 10th double-double of the season at Kansas State (11/16). It marks the second year in a row she has posted 10 in one season. Gardiner is currently sixth in the Big 12. Audrey Alford and Alyssa Enneking have six and Madison Ward has posted there double-doubles this season. The Sooners are tied with TCU for having the most players to post multiple double-doubles this season. Vs. The Ranked... As a freshman in 2013, Gardiner tallied 399 kills at Mississippi State. She later tallied her 601st kill as a Sooner and the 1,000th combined kill of her career in a five-set win for OU over her former team at the UALR Tournament. Gardiner enters this week with 1,090 career kills. Defensive Honors... Marion Hazelwood was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on October 10 after two wins at. She tied for the league lead in blocks by averaging 2.00 for the week. Hazelwood totaled nine blocks, including four solos, for a seasonhigh in a 3-0 sweep in the first of two matches in Morgantown. She became Oklahoma s first defensive award winner since Maria Fernanda (9/10/12). First Player of the Week... Kimmy Gardiner followed up her Oklahoma Invitational Most Outstanding Player award with Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on August 29. The award marked the first Big 12 weekly honor of her career and the first time a Sooner won the award in week one since Sallie McLaurin (9/2/13). Next Player of the Week... Audrey Alford had a record-setting weekend and was named to the UALR All-Tournament Team before earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on September 5. When he was just one-and-ahalf years old, Javier Restrepo was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). In August 2008, he had a relapse and received a bone marrow transplant and then received a liver transplant but unfortunately relapsed again. Javi fought the disease like a true champion, nearly beating it on multiple occasions before it ultimately claimed his life on July 31, 3
