7 7 Have the necessary approvals/endorsements been obtained? Is the proposed solution reasonable with respect to timing/volumes and signal operation? Is it likely that manual modifications to the signals will be required (signal phasing/timing changes)? Are signal loops likely to be damaged? Are there any conflicts between banned turning movements and signalised right/left turn lanterns? Does the TMP contain any proposed detours that will impact upon the wider network? What are the impacts of the aftercare treatment on the operation of the traffic signals?

8 8 Timeframes for approval: State Controlled roads 15 business days prior to works commencing. Local Government roads through traffic signals 15 days prior to the work commencing. 11 11 RPI administers the Traffic Management Company Registration Scheme The main objectives of the registration scheme are to: Improve the quality and consistency of traffic management on site Increase the safety of the public and road workers Raise industry standards and improve industry image Establish feedback mechanisms and tangible consequences for companies that fail to implement correct traffic management.

12 12 Each company is issued with a unique registration number Permits TM implementation on Main Roads controlled assets Portfolios are kept to highlight performance issues There are consequences for substandard performance Please explain requests Face to face meetings with company officers Suspension or deregistration are possible Remember that the company implementing the controls bears the responsibility!

29 29 If the activity is within 30m of traffic signals RPI approval is required Submissions must be complete prior to being assessed Sufficient time to process the plan and provide necessary notifications (minimum 15 working days) is imperative to the success of the process Significant events or work will require additional approval time

30 Thank You Any Questions?

31 31 Will the activity have an impact upon pedestrian movements? Conversely, will pedestrian movements impact upon traffic movements? For example: The entire traffic stream has been reduced to one lane on approach to the traffic signals, and; there is a fully protected pedestrian crossing which under the temporary traffic control arrangement will result in the entire stream being delayed for 12 seconds. If there are impacts to the signalised pedestrian crossings, have safe pedestrian detours been provided?
