The Wildcats, who are undefeated at home through the first seven weeks, posted their best nonconference record since when NU was 13-1 against non-big Ten foes. Sharp Shooting Over the past four games, Northwestern shot 48 percent from the field, including a season-high 60.9 percent effort against Northern Arizona on Dec. 19. The recognition comes on the heels of Amy Jaeschke receiving the same award a week earlier. The Wildcats have now been honored by the League four times in just the first seven weeks of the season. Orban, a North Canton, Ohio, native, filled up the stat sheet against her fellow Buckeye State visitors, recording her fourth double-double of the year to earn the honor. She finished with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor and 11 rebounds, five of which were on the offensive end. She added five assists and three steals to help Northwestern finish the nonconference season with an 11-2 mark and an undefeated home record thus far this season. Three for 30 Amy Jaeschke s 33-point performance against Northern Illinois ( ) was her third 30-point effort of the season. The 6-5 center also reached that plateau against Chicago State (30) and versus Central Michigan, when she poured in a careerbest 37 points. Jaeschke is fifth in the nation in ROSTER BY STATE scoring, averaging 24.2 ppg. She also has tallied double-figures 29-straight contests and has reached the 20-point plateau in a Big Ten-leading 10 games so far this season. Jaeschke Records 1,500 Point Senior Amy Jaeschke recorded the 1,500 point of her storied career at Northwestern against DePaul on Dec. 13. The center is now eighth on NU s alltime career scoring list with 1,587 points. Jaeschke on the Big Stage Take a look at the NCAA statistics ( ) and one will see Amy Jaeschke s name littered among the national leaders. The 6-5 center is fifth in the country in scoring (24.2 ppg), fifth in blocked shots (4.2 bpg) and eighth in double-doubles with six on the season. Her triple double against Chicago State is the most of its variety in the nation as well. Enter Floor Leader Beth Marshall Beth Marshall has proved to be an all-around performer so far this year, asserting herself as a scorer as opposed to just a distributor of the rock. The fifth-year senior is third on the team in scoring, averaging 12.5 ppg and first in free-throw percentage, making 87.5 percent of her attempts. She continues to play her role of feeding her teammates, however, coming in second with 43 assists per game. Marshall is second in the conference in minutes per game with May I Help You? Call them a team of givers or a group of unselfish players, either way, Northwestern leads the Big Ten in assists, dishing out 250 helpers that s an average of 19.2 this season. That average also ranks ninth in the nation (as of ). Tailor Jones leads the team with 54 dishes while senior Beth Marshall is second with 43. The two guards rank in the top ten in the Conference in assists per game, with Jones at fourth (4.5) and Marshall eighth (3.6). Toeing the Line Northwestern ranks fourth in the Big Ten in freethrow percentage (75.4 percent) but perhaps its ability to execute when the game is on the line is more impressive. Beth Marshall is especially accurate in the final minute, connecting on 14-of-16 attempts during that time. As a team, Northwestern is 33-of-38 from the line in the final 1:08 this season. Senior Beth Marshall is second in the Big Ten with 36.5 mpg, while fellow classmate Amy Jaeschke and junior Brittany Orban are averaging 35.1 and 33.9 mpg, respectively. Marshall Hits Milestone Fifth-year senior Beth Marshall swished her 100th career three-pointer against Missouri on Dec. 5, a feat that is more remarkable than you might think. Marshall has only played two full seasons of basketball in her career, participating her freshman 2

3 year and then sitting out the next two seasons due to injury. Which means, is just her third season playing college basketball, and she already ranks eighth on NU s all-time threepointers made list. Don t Take Offense Junior Brittany Orban has never been shy about going after a rebound or hustling for a lose ball. The Canton, Ohio, native hauled down 17 rebounds against LSU, which is tied for the second-best performance in the Big Ten this season. She also ranks fourth in the League in offensive rebounds, averaging 3.1 per game. Orban pulled down a game-high five offensive boards against DePaul on Dec. 13 and again against Toledo on Dec. 22. Additionally, the forward is second in the Conference in three-point shooting percentage, converting 58.6 percent of the time. Jaeschke Up To Her Old Tricks Senior Amy Jaeschke picked up right where she left off last season, leading the Wildcats in both scoring and rebounding. She has topped the Wildcat scoring column in 11 of the first 13 games and the rebounding category seven times. The captain recorded her first career triple-double against Chicago State with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks. She has six double-doubles this year and holds a Big Ten-leading 52 rejections. Welcome, Ms. Jones After sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, sophomore Tailor Jones has entered the Wildcat lineup as a sixth man who knows her role extremely well. Jones leads the team in assists (54) and is fourth on the squad in rebounding, averaging 4.6 rpg. Aside from distributing the rock she had a team-high seven helpers against Saint Mary s Jones is well-versed in the art of taking it away, leading all Wildcats with 18 steals. Jaeschke, Marshall Earn All-Tourney Honors in Saint Mary s Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic Seniors Amy Jaeschke and Beth Marshall led Northwestern to a perfect 2-0 record last weekend in the Saint Mary s Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic and earned some hardware of their own. Marshall was named to the All-Tournament team while Jaeschke was tabbed the event s Most Valuable Player. Wildcats Ink Jones to Round out Class of 2015 Head coach Joe McKeown announced the signing of Morgan Jones to the National Letter of Intent. Jones (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Lake Mary) becomes the third member of this year s class, joining Wisconsin native Alex Cohen (Bayside, Wis./Nicolet) and Canadian Karly Roser (Hamilton, Ontairo, Canada/Saint Mary s). The class was ranked 14th in the country by hoopgurlz.com. Jones, an all-around athlete who also stars in volleyball, comes to NU as the ninth-ranked player in the nation and the third at her position by Hoopgurlz.com. The multi-sport team captain has been a first-team all-conference honoree in both volleyball and basketball. On the hardwood, she is a three-time selection and an All-State performer last season who is averaging 18.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg and four assists per outing during her high school career. She is also a three-year member of the Naval ROTC as well as a peer mentor who is active in the community, participating in Relay for Life and volunteering at children s hospitals in the Altamonte Springs area. Building Blocks Northwestern enters the season on the heels of one of the best campaigns in Wildcat annals. NU recorded the fourthbest turnaround among BCS schools last season (10th overall), and reached the postseason for the first time in 13 years. In winning percentage comparison, the Wildcats above-.500 mark (.545) was a 31.2 percent improvement from last season. 10 JOE McKEOWN 25th season overall Third at Northwestern Overall record: (25 years) On June 9, 2008, Northwestern University Director of Athletics and Recreation Jim Phillips named Joe McKeown the head women s basketball coach at Northwestern. McKeown (pronounced Mick-Q-ann) is the sixth mentor to guide Northwestern s women s basketball program. In his first two seasons in Evanston, McKeown has transformed the culture of the women s basketball program. Last season ( ), the Wildcats turned in their best year since the campaign. Northwestern s improvement from (7-23) to (18-15) was tied for the 10th best turnaround in the nation and ranked fourth among BCS schools. In winning percentage comparison, the Wildcats above-.500 mark (.545) was a 31.2 percent improvement from last season. The success yielded NU s first postseason appearance in 13 years and a ticket to the WNIT, which led to two victories and a trip to the event s round of 16. Individually, junior Amy Jaeschke, who finished sixth in the nation in blocks, was tabbed a first-team All-Big Ten selection while freshman Kendall Hackney was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team. It was the first time in 10 years that a Wildcat had appeared on the first-team all-league docket. McKeown joined the Wildcats following 19 years as the head coach at George Washington University, where he became one of the most respected names in women s college basketball. During the season, McKeown became the 34th head coach in Division I history to pass the 500-victory mark. He brought 509 career victories, a total which ranked 21st on the active Division I list, to Evanston. Entering the campaign, McKeown s.716 winning percentage ( ) ranks 21st among active NCAA women s coaches (minimum five years) and 22nd all-time in women s coaching history (minimum 10 years). McKeown left George Washington as the winningest coach in school history and in the Atlantic 10 Conference. In 24 seasons as a college head coach, McKeown has guided his team to postseason play 20 times. He coached the Colonials to 14 regular season or postseason Atlantic 10 crowns. In his 19 seasons at George Washington, McKeown compiled a record, with his 1997 squad reaching the Elite Eight. On three other occasions, the Colonials advanced to the Sweet Sixteen 1995, 2007 and In his 15 NCAA Tournament trips with GW, the Colonials won their first-round tournament game 13 times. McKeown is a five-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year (1991, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2007) and two-time National Coach of the Year nominee (1995, 1997). After spending three seasons as the head coach at New Mexico State, where he went and appeared in two NCAA tournaments, McKeown went to George Washington in September of 1989, inheriting a team that went 9-19 a year earlier. After his first squad went 14-14, McKeown quickly turned the Colonials into an elite women s college program with his teams averaging nearly 24 wins per year the next 18 seasons. At GW, McKeown coached six Atlantic 10 Players of the Year. He also has mentored seven A-10 Rookies of the Year, five Defensive Players of the Year, five Sixth Players of the Year, 14 All-Rookie Team selections and 51 all-conference performers. McKeown has coached 16 players who have gone on to play professional basketball (four WNBA draft picks). Equally as impressive as GW s success on the court was its outstanding performance in the classroom. During McKeown s tenure with the 10 Born May 12, 1956 Alma Mater Kent State, 1979 Degrees Bachelor s Degree, 1979 (Kent State) Master s Degree, 1981 (Kent State) Playing Experience Kent State, Guard, Coaching Experience Kent State, Graduate Assistant Oklahoma, Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator New Mexico State Head Coach George Washington, Head Coach Northwestern, 2008-present Head Coach Family McKeown At-A-Glance Wife Laura Daughters Meghan (19), Ally (8) Son Joey (16) Colonials, George Washington players received Atlantic 10 Academic All- Conference recognition 17 times and eight players were named CoSIDA academic all-district selections (three Academic All-Americans). Of those eight, one was a Rhodes Scholar nominee and another received a Fulbright Scholarship. Other former student-athletes under McKeown s guidance include a GW School of Business Distinguished Scholar Award, an NCAA Woman of the Year representative and two Atlantic 10 Student-Athletes of the Year. McKeown also is involved with USA Basketball, as he recently was named an assistant coach for the 2008 USA Basketball Women s U-18 National Basketball Team. He was also a floor coach for the 1992 Olympic team. Prior to coaching at New Mexico State, McKeown served as an assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma from , and at his alma mater, Kent State University, from Oklahoma posted at least 20
