The Lady Indians defeated Brooks 9-4 to advance to the 2016 Class AA State quarterfinals which will take place on Friday at 4:30 on Champion Fields in Normal, Il. In Saturday's game, the Lady Indians got out to a 3-0 lead in the third adding 1 run in each of the innings. Brooks came back with a little push and scored 2. Our girls responded by scoring 5 runs in the 4th and 1 in the 5th to put the game out of reach. Another stellar performance by Allie Timm on the mound, kept Brooks off balance as they were only able to muster up 4 hits on the day. Allie walked 2 and struck out 4. The defense came up big behind her as they swallowed up 8 ground balls and snagged 2 line drives and 6 pop flies. At the plate, the Lady Indians were led by Abby Delaney who went 2 for 2, walked 3 times and scored 3 runs. Riley Hickey was 2 for 4 with a run scored, Allie Timm had a hit and a run scored, and Hailey Denton crushed a double in the left-center gap and scored a run. The girls took advantage of 7 walks and 3 hit batters to score 3 more runs. A well-played game by all and congratulations again. Good luck Friday at the state quarterfinals! The cross country team raced in the Troy invitational this past Saturday. The team as a whole raced very well. The 7th grade girls finished 6th overall. Kathryn Cichon medaled finishing 18th. To ask questions, to view the piano and organ, or to submit your name for the lottery, please Mike Schroeder at: mschroeder@csd17.org They Learn From Watching Us When you were a kid, did your parents ever say to you, Do as I say, not as I do? Or have you ever said that to your own kids? We probably have all had moments when we did things we knew weren t the best choice, but we did them anyway. This can even hold true for the way we use technology. Parents are concerned about the amount of screen time their children have and worry about their children s safety and security while online. But it s also not uncommon for parents to use technology in exactly the ways we try to encourage our kids not to use it. Our kids learn so much from watching us -- parents, teachers, other adults. One component of keeping our kids digitally safe should be modeling the use of technology the best way possible for our kids.
