1 Enews 10/24/18 Clinic Reminder If you need to drop off medication to your child during the school day, please do not leave it outside the front office on the cart! You need to sign in to the front office with your ID, and ask to go to the clinic to give medication. We will call your child down to the clinic and you can administer the medication. If you want to leave medication for later for your child, it needs to be in a labeled, original, up to date medication bottle and taken to the clinic. We will have you fill out a form and give the medication at the time needed. Your child cannot carry any type of medication with them at school without permission by the nurse. The Class of 2021 will be selling hot Papa John s pepperoni and cheese pizza in the rotunda and freshman center during all lunches on Friday. Pizza will be $1.50 a slice or $12.00 per box. The Spartan Marching Band advanced to the AREA Marching Competition this Saturday- 10/27/18- at Legacy Stadium. The band will perform at 9:15am in prelims performance and we would like to invite you to come out and watch these amazing kids. If you haven t seen our show this year I promise you will not be disappointed. The top 10 scoring bands from prelims will advance to finals Saturday evening and
4 perform again. After finals have concluded, the top 5 scoring bands will advance to the State Marching Contest in San Antonio On November 5 th and 6 th. We hope you can join us on Saturday and help cheer us on to State! Oct. 29 Seven Lakes Spartan Volleyball Your Spartan Volleyball program had a very successful season on all levels. All four teams finished in the top four, with JV and Varisty taking first!! Varsity had a warm up game Tuesday night verse Clear Falls taking them down in three. Please come support your varsity district champs as they start their path to state with the first play-off match at Wheeler Fieldhouse in Sugar Land on Monday Oct. 29. The Spartans will take on Fort Bend Bush High school at 5:00 pm. Come support these ladies and bring all your friends and let s pack the Wheeler Fieldhouse!! Oct. 31 Attention ALL Sophomores!! Applications for the Hugh O Brian State Leadership Seminar are now available! In June 2019 the selected student will spend 3-4 exciting days engaging in leadership development activities and collaborating with other students from throughout the state at The University of Houston. If you are interested, please come to the Counselor s Office for an application. Applications are due by Wednesday, October 31 st.
5 SLHS Choir - Congratulations! On Saturday, October 20 th, SLHS competed in the TMEA Region Auditions (the second round of All State Choir audition). The following students have advanced from the TMEA Region Auditions and have earned a place in the TMEA Pre-Area Choir Auditions. This is the THIRD round of All-State Choir auditions to be held on November 29. These students have ALSO earned a spot in the TMEA Region 23 Mixed Choir! FUN Food Day is a fundraiser organized by the Project Prom Booster Club, however, all classes benefit from this great FUNdraiser!! So how does it work & how do you get involved? We have 6 fun food days. We ask each class (2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022) to donate candy, soda & chips to ONE of the SIX days. The other TWO days Project Prom booster members donate & budget monies are used to purchase as well. Volunteers are organized by the Project Prom Fun Food Day Chairs, with parents from all 4 classes volunteering everyone is welcome! It is a fun, fast & furiously busy day - it truly is FUN to serve the great Spartans of Seven Lakes! Class Donations: September January October Project Prom Boosters - - February Project Prom Boosters & Band - November March To volunteer - ALL parents are welcome!! We serve on both the 9th grade campus & main campus - we serve BOTH breakfast & lunch! We ask volunteers to sign up to serve in ONE location for the ENTIRE shift! We know it is a long shift, but it is vital to have volunteers that are able to serve the entire shift as we will not have time to transition volunteers as there are NO BREAKS between the first 3 lunches this year. Shift 1: Breakfast - - > 6:30 AM - 8:30 AM Shift 2: Lunch - -> 9:45 AM - 1:00 PM We really depend on our volunteers on these crazy days, so please ONLY sign up if you can serve the entire shift and if you have to cancel we ask you provide at least a 24 hour notice so we can try to find a replacement.
