All public are invited to attend. The new Flat Rents based on a new HUD ruling are as follows: One bedroom $439; 2 Bedroom $527; 3 Bedroom $672 ; 4 Bedroom $886. At Rebecca Winters, because they pay utilities, their Flat Rents would be as Follows; 2 Bedroom $480; 3 Bedroom $540 and 4 Bedroom $612. The only flat rent to increase will be Rebecca Winters 4 Bedroom at $ 612. It is important to note that we will still have $50 as our minimum rent and that RENT BASED ON YOUR IN- COME ARE STILL AVAILABLE to select on your Annual re-examination dates. Mark your calendars if you want to attend. Summer Camp Carpenter Center Carpenter Center is having their Summer Camp again this summer any family that would like to take their children to the camp that are in our Public Housing Units can apply for a scholarship to pay for camp. Check out the flyer in this months newsletter for more details sign up soon as you can. The flyer looks like a lot of fun this summer lots of activities planned. Call and save your spot.

2 P a ge 2 Housing Partners of Western Nebraska Tornado Awareness Month Area emergency management officials coordinate efforts to highlight Severe Weather Awareness Week this month. In a house with no basement, or an apartment Avoid windows. Go to the lowest floor, small center room (like a bathroom or closet), under a stairwell or in an interior hallway with no windows. Crouch as low as possible to the floor, facing down: and cover your head with your hands.. A bathtub may offer a shell of partial protection. Even in an interior room, you should cover yourself with some sort of thick padding to protect against falling debris in case the roof and ceiling fail. Obvious signs of a tornado are as follows: Strong, persistent rotation in the cloud base: whirling dust or debris on the ground under a cloud base; Hail or heavy rainfall. with a fast intense wind shift. Chore Services for Seniors For Handy Man Services for Window Washing outside and inside Apartments and/or Spring House Cleaning. Please call Brandy Robinson, the Handy Man Coordinator, if you are inter- ested in having someone clean your windows or do your Spring house cleaning. Please call as soon as possible so Brandy can get your name on the list. This service is on a sliding scale fee. Brandy reported That the Handy-Man Service pays the workers doing the service and then Brandy will send a bill to you for this service. Call Brandy at Senior Fathers Day Lunch Wednesday, June 18th 2014 Noon to 2:00 PM Burgers-Beans-Bingo Bring your favorite dessert or salad. Bring a recipe card with your favorite idea for salad or dessert. dessert. Cards will be exchange. Bus will leave Gering at 10:30 and then go to Minatare by 10:50 AM and then to Morrill by 11:25AM and return to Bluff View by 11:55PM. Call to RSVP office by Monday 16th to reserve spot.

3 P a ge 3 Attention Senior Residents We have planned a trip on Saturday, June 14, 2014 to Fort Robinson for the Pow Wow. Deb Flores has told me that her granddaughter will be dancing this year so that will be fun. The bus will leave Bluff View Community Room at 9:00 AM and then to Morrill and then to Minatare. We should be in Minatare by 9:45. I am not sure what time we will get back on Saturday. You will need to bring your lawn chair and you will need to buy your own lunch or bring a sack lunch. We will have the coolers for Drinks and sack lunches. This will be our first outing and it should be exciting. Call the office Thursday June 11th to reserve a spot on the bus. Or call Alma Johnson at FUN! FUN! FUN!! Just a Few Reminders Summer is coming up quickly we all want to enjoy our summer and have fun filled activities. Just a reminder Music tends to be louder in summer we open our window and the sound carries, please be considerate of your neighbors and keep noise down so we don t disturb anyone living close to you. Keep your items in your yard not leaving items in others yards making it harder to keep order around units. Winter is over please store your snow shovels in closets in house to keep porches clear of clutter. Lawn items can be on your back porches but all other items need put in your units. Have a wonderful Summer!!! Food Bank for June Food Bank for June will be announced at a later date this month. Watch for a flyer to be sent around with the date for June. Bring back your egg cartons when you come so we can keep getting those great fresh farm eggs coming.

4 P a ge 4 Senior Outing to the Nebraska Chautauqua This will be at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering, NE. The Housing Bus will be picking you up for this event: Friday June 27th, 2014 Bus will leave Bluff View at 4:30PM picking up Bluff View at this time Then will travel to Minatare and then Morrill. A cooler will be provided for bottle water that Housing will supply if you want to bring a snack feel free. 6:00PM Youth Chautauqua Presentations Chautauqua Tent 7:00PM Local Entertainment Chautauqua Tent 7:15PM Warren Brown as Mark Twain Chautauqua Tent 7:30PM an evening with Laura Ingalls Wilder (Karen Vuranch) - Chautauqua Tent. Drowning Prevention Tips Never leave a child unsupervised in or near any water even for a second! Supervise children closely when they are in the bath tub. Stay in the bathroom until the tub is drained of water, ignore phone and door bells! Always drain 5 gallon buckets of water after use and supervise toddlers closely when using 5 gallon buckets filled with water! Teach pool safety rules to all family members. Never consider your child drown Proof even after swimming lessons. Do not rely on water wings or inflatable devices in place of adult supervision. Enclose swimming pools with four side fencing at a minimum height of 5 feet and a maximum of 4 inches between bars. Use self latching gates that are installed 54 inches or higher. Always drain standing water off the pool or spa cover. Learn how to give CPR and basic first aid. Post 911 or emergency numbers in a prominent place.
