1 THE LRCCC NEWS SPRING NEWSLETTER MAY 2017 CHAIRLADY S WELCOME Welcome again to another "Landrover News". What a great start we've had to this years rallies, you only have to read a few of the guest comments to see how our attendees are enjoying all the different types of rallies on offer, there is truly something for everyone. Thanks to all who ran or are going to run future rallies, you all put a lot of effort in, particularly the teams/helper for the two biggest rallies so far this year the ever popular "Oscars" & "Signature rally" unless you've been involved you won't know how much hard work and organisation that goes into these rallies. Our special thanks to both teams for a job well done. Please also take time to read the rally rules as at the last Association meeting several items were brought up for discussion and need your attention. Claire has decided to leave the committee but felt this was the best time so as to cause the least amount of disruption to the club. We thank Claire for all her hard work and support for the club, she will be greatly missed. But on a happy note Dean Sharpe is stepping into the membership role taking us forward into the future. Online booing - so you can snap up your place before t s to late The response to rally bookings was phenomenal, with many rallies becoming full within the first few days of the bookings opening and over 1000 bookings made in January alone. Don't despair if you didn't get your slip submitted in time, we'd always encourage you to go on the waiting list. To everyone who has attended the rallies held so far, thank you, as always your support is appreciated, without you these rallies couldn't go ahead.

The responses for the voting for this event were amazing. There were a record number of 83 votes received this year so thank you all that voted. 14 rallies received nominations for rally of the year ranging from our Entertainments rallies, Holiday and relaxed chilled out weekends. We have a prize draw for all that voted and well done to the prize draw winners Steph Bates and Paul Adlam who both won 25 Argos vouchers. The LRCCC Oscars ceremony (unlike the USA, version) went like clockwork. 4 THANK YOU Massive thanks must go to all our stewards for running these rallies and for the many people that have helped out on the rally field. Without you these rallies could not go ahead Himley Hall, Dudley (9th 11th June) Rallies so far in 2017 Barnstones - Afternoon of bowling and 2 nights in the hall to celebrate Dave Gumbley s birthday Lapworth - Doctors & Nurses night with lots of laughs and dressing up! Valentines - Sell out weekend at Fillongley Village Hall. Lovely 3 course meal Saturday evening followed by entertainment from the fabulous Ali By Request Oscars - Annual awards, breakfast, games and the brilliant Alive & Kicking made this a great weekend. Binton - Skittles, food, bingo to help celebrate John Heath birthday Whitemead - full facility site with pool, sauna, bar and live music was enjoyed by all Warwick - The I m a Leprechaun Get me out of here game went down a storm, followed by Disco. Ending the night with River Dance Ripple - Fun and games social in the hall both night with sausage tasting on Saturday Greenhills - Relaxed weekend with bingo and quizzes on both nights Bowling - Great weekend with lots of friendly banter, fancy dress and LRCCC retained the cup Norton - New venue near Gloucester. Most of the rally caught the bus from outside of the site on Saturday into Gloucester to the Quays Spring Fayre. Supper provided each evening with cheese/ham & onion cobs; homemade sausage rolls and homemade puddings. Easter games on Easter Sunday for children & adults including egg throwing; welly wanging and egg hunt. Ludlow - Another very successful Signature Rally with 3 nights of live entertainment from Abba, Drive and the sensational Maetloaf. Lots of activities all weekend for everyone. The children had lots of fun with the bouncy castle, popcorn and candy floss. The photo booth was a hit with everyone giving many lasting memories. The onsite catering van and 'Last Man Standing' game were welcome additions to an action packed fun weekend. Blue Lias - Lovely well kept field next to pub and canal. Great evening in the party tent with John Cotter (even though he lost). Some nice weather too. Shardlow Marina - Lovely field next to marina and canals. Live entertainment in the club both evenings and several pubs within walking distance.

5 SOME OF OUR UPCOMING HOLIDAY RALLIES UNITY FARM 21st 28th October Come celebrate Karen s 50th birthday with entertainment. Fun and Games including square dancing, bingo and quizzes. Full facility site with club, indoor pool and shuttle bus. Hard Standing with toilets and showers BAGWELL FARM 27th May 3rd June Site with bar, shop, restaurant, play area and pets corner. Set in a rural location but within access of a local beach, site is situated 4.5 miles from Weymouth and its fabulous beaches, a brilliant base to explore Dorset. PENTEWN SANDS 27th May 10th June Five Star full facility site with private beach, no need to even move the car, everything on site. Club house, Beach Bar, pools, play areas and restaurant on site Pentewan Sands, St Austell (27th May 10th June) UPCOMING RALLIES Chipping Campden - 2nd June to 4th June The procession, fair and entertainment for the Scuttlebrook Wake will take place on Saturday in Chipping Campden which is within walking distance from the rally site. Himley Hall - 9th June to 1th June Parking in grounds of stately home. Fishing lake, 9 hole golf course & café. Paths for cycling & walking through the park to Baggeridge with large children s play area, café & Go Ape course. Walk to several pubs close by including The Crooked House pub or visit Merry Hill Shopping centre. No charcoal BBQ s allowed. Evesham Vale Caravan Park 23rd June to 25th June Lovely site in the orchard. Evesham Carnival on Saturday with procession, stalls and entertainment. About 1 mile walk to pub, 2 miles into Evesham. Scrumpy cider farm next door (try if you dare). Children s play area. Use of barn for social Fri & Sat. Celebrate Gill & Andy s anniversary with a karaoke evening. Youth Rally 30th June to 2nd July ( see details later in newsletter) Hatton 7th July to 9th July Children s activity farm with sheep racing, tractor rides, bouncy castle and feed the animals. Group rates for farm entrance which are 8.25 per person. LRCCC debut of Carla, giving us live entertainment Saturday evening. Get ready to party!!

Next year your club will be 45 years old and we are well underway in organising what we hope will be an enjoyable event for you all with live music already planned. We have secured Ludlow Racecourse so we can hopefully see as many of you out as possible. We have put a sub-committee together and we have lots planned for the Sunday with stalls, music, food and drink (including beer and fizz bar). We will keep you updated on how the plans are going so keep watching our website and Facebook for more details.

7 We have loads planned throughout the weekend including bouncy castle and Foam Party Saturday. Onsite there is a farm park with climbing wall, frizbee golf, bughunting, and lots of animals. Chris Jones leisure will be setup in the field next to us with caravan sales. Jake is looking for children to help run this rally and get involved in the whole weekend. 8 Reminder of Rules We all want to have a good time and relax when away in our unit, the rules are on our website and in your rally book, but we would like to draw to your attention some of the following rules:- Gas Bottles Where is it necessary to keep gas cylinders outside of a unit s locker, for example where an old caravan does not have a purpose built locker, the permitted maximum size is now limited to 13 kg. The cylinder must be strapped securely to the unit and connected with a short proprietary hose in good condition and not be under any strain or vulnerable to strain. The practice of using an external cylinder to feed into the caravan system via a barbeque outlet is not permitted irrespective of size of cylinder. Contact Us WEBSITE FACEBOOK LANDROVER CAMPING AND CARAVAN CLUB Noise Can we remind you all of the 11pm rule, music must not be played after 11pm and the noise on the field must be kept down, especially when we are returning to our unit in the evening, we could lose our licence to have rallies if we don t comply. E-Cigarettes/Vapes The Association have ruled these must be treated the same as cigarettes and you cannot use in halls/tents. Inappropriate Behaviour The BL Association and Land Rover committee would like to remind members that this is a family club and we will have zero tolerance for the smoking of any illegal substances or inappropriate behaviour. The committee will deal with any incidents very seriously. 5 MPH Speaks for itself but make sure you don t go above 5MPH on the field, think how you would feel if you hit a child? Dogs on Leads All dogs must be kept on a lead, at all times. Membership Your membership covers you for two adults and children under 18. When your child reaches 18 you must get them a non-unit membership at 2. All people over 18 must be a member/non unit member prior to coming to the rally and pay extra as shown in the BL book. They must sleep within your unit and cannot sleep in a tent/car.
