Committees: 6. Legislature Officer Reports: Suspend the rules of agenda so Student Activities Coordinator can be moved up in the agenda: Ryan- Gribbin Burkett, Vice President, seconds the motion Discussion: What does this mean? She has priority due to budget and so to make sure she is able to motion for the amount she needs, she can. a. Student Activities Coordinator i. Mary E. Lilly Night RSVP- April 6th! i. RSVP by this Thursday. If not no table or seat i. Mary E. Lilly Updates ii. Breann Rissland, Student Activities Coordinator, motions for the funds not to exceed $8,500 for Mary E. Lily Night. i. Jeffrey Lozano, Community Service Coordinator, seconds the motion. iv. Motion Passes. b. Academic Programming i. No Change ii. Brionolli is doing a lot of work with the gen-ed requirements. It is being altered to what we want them to be. He s working with the council (faculty council). He wants an accurate representation from the student body to address the general education requirement concerns. iii. Anna: What is happening with the giveaways not given at academic forum? i. Nobody knew about the giveaway so we are thinking about giving it away if a student completes the advisor evaluations. Advisors
should get the accuracy, but we are waiting on a lot of people to do stuff. iv. Liz M: I m short credits and now I m in a Saturday class. Everyone in this class is short credits, yet are trying to graduate in May. This is an issue. We have to bring it up and something needs to be done. There are five kids in my class that are spending the extra money to be in this class in order to graduate on time and its unnecessary. v. Jeff: Advisor Evaluation form has not been updated since i. We cannot do anything about the form or the questions but give suggestions. vi. Stacy: Is anyone on E-board on the advisement task force? vii. Sam: I was last year. The direction the advisement task force is heading is via the student solution center. They want the Student Solution Center to be in charge of that. Jodi Ebans is in charge I can give you the contact info. viii. Anika: We can give suggestions but it s up to them. i. Dave: If we keep bringing it up change will happen c. Molloy Life Media i. No Change d. Community Service i. Dodge for Cure 2: April 6 7:00pm Quealy Gym. i. Make a team and please sign up on the roaster in SA office. ii. Four referees so it s a fair game iii. Will need help to set up with the helium tank iv. Ryan: Just to clarify, what is the helium tank for? v. Jeff: Past couple events I ve been blowing up balloon arches and so now we re getting a helium tank so the arch will last till Relay ii. Easter Eggstravaganza: April 8, 2017 i. It s a major so you can get up to four points. Set up is at 10am and we need 12 people to sit at tables just to do crafts. 10 ppl. max to do the Easter egg hunt. Starting the event at 12pm. ii. Megan: Tried to get athletes to participate, but a lot of us are in season iii. Jeff: American Red Cross gave $90. We used that to pay for candy iv. Jeffrey Lozano, Community Service Coordinator, motions for the funds not to exceed $100 for photo booth for Easter Eggstravaganza. a. Not from Molloy life media, but we found this one to be cheaper and it has the backdrop that we want. v. Dave: We pay for the ink? Pay for the size of the event vi. Brendan: From Molloy-Life Media the photo booth is a pain to set up, it s heavy, and there is no easy way to move it all vii. Dave: Is it going to be no longer offered? We don t know yet. iii. Relay for Life MSG Team April 7 th
i. Please sign up! We re 2 out of 10 teams signed up ii. Carly: If everyone signs up and donates $10 its $500. Please support! e. Residence Life i. Res-life BBQ: May 2 i. Joy, Res life Coordinator, is wonderful. For the BBQ, we re getting inflatables and we re taking up the parking spaces between the res- halls. We re having an Dunk-tank, and small foods like churros, popcorn, and cotton candy. ii. Melissa Guida, Residence Life Representative, motions for the funds not to exceed $1500 for Res-Life BBQ. (Res-life is matching the funds). iii. Sophia Ouloupis, Senior Class President, seconds the motion. iv. Melissa: Retracting $200 from milk and cookies too. v. Gina: Having giveaways for BBQ? We re looking into it but reslife is going to match it and right now they re looking into water bottles. vi. Gina: Two years ago it wasn t offered to commuters because it wasn t paid for by MSG but only the food was. f. Class Officers i. Seniors i. Gala ii. 55 Nites - thank you for everyone who came! iii. Chipotle Fundraiser - Tuesday, April 11th 3161 Long Beach Road, Oceanside, NY iv. Senior BBQ/Senior Week a. Nick Caratelli, Senior Class President, motions to deplete the total fundraised and available balance of the senior class budget to zero for senior luncheon & BBQ (approx. $2200), and spring fair ($35) table, and rest in giveaways etc. That total is approx. $2, Breeann Rissland, Sudent Activities Coordinator, seconds the motion. b. Nick Caratelli, Senior Class President, motions not to exceed $5000 from the allocated amount of the msg budget for gala Subsidizing tickets at $14. $500 for centerpieces and decorations. Anika Chowdhury, Academic Coordinator, seconds. Motion passes. c. Nick Caratelli, Senior Class President, motions to reallocate the funds of $2000 from MSG budget dedicated for Central Park Bubbles and with addition of $1264 ($643 from MSG budget and $621 from MSG fundraise account)
$2000 dance and photo booth. It s one hour of six dancers and they come out to hand out glow sticks, etc Tickets $79.99 d. Anna Bassalino, Freshmen Class President, seconds the motion. e. Mel: Student Affairs needs 10 tickets Gina: Yes, but for Senior Class Presidents tickets are being motioned in this motion too. In the past it s never been motioned before and it s always just happened and never been told to legislature. f. Sam: With BBQ we re spending $2000 and not $3000 from our own budget. And BBQ is more senior specific so it makes sense to ask for funds out of MSG budget for gala and not senior specific events. g. Jeff: Talk to alumni? There not giving money for it, they want us to raise money h. Jeff: Tickets should be coming from fundraise not on budget i. Sam Novak: Last year as planned $8000 with fundraise and continually to fundraise as well as $4000 extra from MSG budget, but we still had to go to SA and ask for more money j. Ryan: Total motions with the two today and previous motions of prior meetings is approximately $14,000. I m not opposed to tap in fundraise, but the over cushioning is not necessary, k. Abstain: Anna, Kayla, Anika, Jeffery, Jackie, Afsha, Grace, Rosa, Mary, Gina, and Stacy (11 ppl.) l. Oppose: Ryan m. Motion passes. ii. Juniors i. Color Fest April 19 th a. Kat Black, Junior Class President, motions for the funds not to exceed $220 from Junior Class Budget for powder for Colorfest. b. Anna Bassalino, Freshmen Class President, seconds the motion c. Motion passes d. Kat Black retroactively motions from the Junior Class Budget not to exceed $200 for pizza for Happy Birthday Everyone. e. Ryan-Gribbin Burkett, Vice President, seconds the motion f. Motion passes.
g. Tony: I am going to digitize the t-shirts ideas we re contemplating for Colorfest. Make sure to vote in slack later on! iii. Sophomores i. No Change a. The sophomore class gift with my clinical professor and her foundation is not necessarily happening because she got sick so we can t go into the hospitals or give her made gift baskets. We re thinking of now having a bake sale and donating to the foundation and then take from our fundraising account and then donate. We want students to be able to donate too. b. Jeff: The camp that happens every summer is not happening this year due to budgets. Maybe donate to them? Grace: I participated in the camp. We would probably make a max of $125 and in the long run I don t think that would be effective in helping the camp. Maybe a car wash to fundraise? c. Katie: We have a bake sale on Thursday, and we were going to cancel it, but you can take that day iv. Freshmen ii. Let Your Voice Be Heard Thank You! We had a good crowd and had 10 pies of pizza a. Jeff: Little difficult to see the t.v. Screens b. Kat: Got really lucky with the people who are always showing up to our events. Thank you!
