2 PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE Community Connections Working Bee What a strong and focused group of parents, students and staff who tackled the grounds and the sheds last Friday evening. The saying, many hands make light work was ringing true as we shifted furniture, dumped countless loads of stuff into the skip, cleaned student lockers, weeded, and battled the dust from sweeping out the shed. It was a busy busy bee space from pm and then we all went into the staffroom, which was transformed into a dining room! The tables were spread with tablecloths, plates, drinks and cutlery, and most important of all, FOOD! Some busy bees had cooked us dinner lamb kofta, sausages, salads, dips and breads, and boy, did we need them! Thank you so much to the Smith, Hubbard, Fatoolahi, Hajiki, Jafari, Wood, Nguyen, Du, Barr, Nguyen and Al Mutairi families for coming and lending a generous helping hand. And many thanks to Mrs Gavin and Mrs Hopcraft for their behind the scenes organisation and work on behalf of the Community Sub-Committee. Speaking of transformations Our library is getting a makeover! Merilyn has been sorting through our old books (free from the office if you d like some), and now we have new furniture for students. The tables and chairs are, to quote some Year 5-6 students, new fashion, and they look and feel great. Come in and have a look for yourself. And our side fence has been replaced no more sticks and stones surprise gifts through the holes to our neighbours!

3 Transition to Prep: don t forget Our Transition Program for our 2018 preps and parents will run on consecutive Tuesdays 9 11am. The dates are: 14, 21 and 28 November. If you know of ANY families who are yet to enrol for next year, please remind them to do so. Warm Regards, Karen Only 4 more days till our Fun Run!!! Finalise your sponsors and donations. Make sure families go online to order their child s prize before Monday 30 th October. The sponsorship sheet and money needs to be returned to school by Monday. Your child will need to bring their running shoes, hat and a water bottle for the event. Absences Just a reminder to please send a note if your child has been absent from school, or you can respond to the SMS on the day of the absence. You can call the office but we also need a written note/text. Thank you Uniform Please remember to clearly label students uniform, so that it is easily identified, if it ends up in lost property. 6 Sustainability by 3/4 A This term the 3/4 students are learning about sustainability. We have documented the important things we need to do to keep our environment safe. We need to re-use, reduce and recycle. We looked at our lunch boxes and identified the need to eliminate the amount of plastic we bring to school every day. These are our thoughts and our Lunch Box goals/actions. PLASTIC IS NOT FANTASTIC! CAN YOU MAKE A CHANGE! I need to use a plastic lunch box with sections for my snacks. By Azai.
