2 July 11 Newsletter Page 2 P R E S I D E N T S M E S S A G E To quote Kenny Chesney, Summertime is finally here! The golf course is in excellent condition, the pool is rockin and your favorite meal is ready in the clubhouse. What a great time of year to end a day at Maumelle Country Club with dinner and watching the sunset over the river on the back nine. The Four Ball Tournament was a tremendous success. There were so many people that worked incredibly hard to make the weekend one of the best that I can remember. Make plans and mark your calendar now for next year s MCC Four Ball. Happy Hour Tues. Fri 5-7pm 10% Off 836Drinks The Maumelle Classic is scheduled for July Additionally, Our Club will host a U.S.G.A. Amateur Qualifying Event on Monday, August 1 after the Classic. These are two great chances to watch some very talented golfers and potential future professionals. I would like to welcome all of our new Members and remind everyone of the current membership promotion. There has never been a better time to join MCC than now. The new menu is complete and should be introduced soon. The Clubhouse Committee has done a great job to develop some new choices as well as maintain traditional Club favorites. Support Our Club and come try one of the new appetizers, sandwiches or entrees for lunch or dinner. See You at Our Club, John P. Neumeier F RO M YO U R G E N E R A L M A NA G E R Tues. Night Family Night Kids Eat Free w/ Adult Entrée Catfish Friday $11.95 Wow, we have had a busy two months, lots of tournaments, wedding receptions and dinner functions. I want to thank everyone for their patience the last 8 weeks while we have hosted all these tournaments. The pool is open and we are having a cookout at the pool for the 4 th of July, we will have a DJ from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. and he will be helping me with pool games for the kids, making balloon animals for the kids and we will have some pretty cool prizes for the kids contests! I hope everyone will attend. Speaking of the pool, I want to thank the McClary family for their generous donations to the pool area. They donated 4 large planters filled with beautiful flowers that his wife created. They weren t through there, Shane provided us three of his employees to paint the rails, the snack bar and the patio area of the club. Also, I want to thank Mike & Elaine Nolan for helping us get the baby pool repaired and up and running. I feel the need to recommend Laura Baxter if you are ever in need of blinds for your house, her company is responsible for the new blinds we have added throughout the entire clubhouse, they look wonderful and I thank her as well for a job well done! The new menu is up and running and I hope everyone will come out in support of the restaurant, we love serving you. It s getting to be vacation time for our members and I hope all of you have a safe and happy vacation! See ya at the club, Jeff
3 July 11 Newsletter Page 3 F RO M T H E P RO S H O P Minute with Maddox It is hard to believe the first half of the golf calendar is complete. It is hot as can be and our greens love it! Our first aerification was a great success! The greens were fully recovered in days! Fairway and Tee aerification also went very good! The rest of the course is doing great too. Although, as I write this the grass is beginning to grow so fast it will be hard for us to keep up! Roughs are the most difficult area on the course to keep up with, but it is a lot easier to do when it is not raining everyday like July 09! Although, a little rain would be nice! We are still fighting a battle with weeds but we should turn the corner here pretty soon. I hope everyone has a great Summer and remember, stay hydrated! Jason Baker Golf Course Superintendent
