Fortunately we have had a little rain. I want to thank Stuart Harris, Bill Page and the MGA for repairing the fence where we store our equipment. You may have noticed it was falling down in spots, and these folks repaired it for us. Also, you may have noticed Peneprime came out and filled in the broken cart path where the tree fell on 6, the bumps on 11 and 12 and also the area around 7 tees where the equipment is washed. Thank you to Mike Rector (Peneprime), Todd Krauser, Eddie Craven, Metro and the MGA for getting that area cleaned. Gary Kemp from Arkansas Tree Service came out and trimmed trees on the right of 12, cut down the broken tree on 14 and cleaned up the fallen tree on 6, among other limbs that were in play. Thank you to Gary and his crews. We had a good month financially and are on budget for the year. With vacations coming to an end and school starting soon, please continue to utilize the club and all it has to offer when making plans the rest of the season. The clubs success depends on all of us. As the days are longer, a lot of us want to play a quick 9 after work. I ask, if the pro shop is open, to please check in with them before you play. Be reminded our fairways are not our practice areas. Please do not hit several balls from the same spot to the greens. We all have seen this and should be another easy fix. We have a dress code at MCC and it is uncomfortable to tell someone to change what they are wearing or to tuck in their shirt before they can play. Please make an effort to review and follow the rules of the club. Hope to see everyone at the club soon. Whether around the pool, on the course or cooling off in the mixed grill, we hope you are happy and everything is being taken care of. There is a lot of summer left and we are going to keep working to meet all your expectation inside and out. I want to thank everyone again for obeying all of the rules of the club and around the pool. All food and beverages should be purchased form the club and consumed in the designated areas. This helps to reduce the chance of pesky bugs and varmints. Please come out on Friday, the 3 rd and enjoy a DIVE IN MOVIE around the pool for all ages. The movie will begin at dusk, as soon as we can see it outside. We will be cooking up Pizza and Snacks and there will be drink specials for kids and adults alike. Please gather up your friends and call ahead and we will get you the best seat in the house. Thanks again for making MCC one of the coolest clubs around. We have mainly focused our water management on the greens mainly due to lack of water. Remember, we no longer have the luxury of free water from CAW water plant, which is now officially closed. We have been transferring from the well and pond 13 for approximately two weeks. To give you a perspective and maybe help understand why we aren t watering wall to wall daily, our well pumps through our irrigation system to 2 lake and at best pumps around 300,000 gallons in a 24 hour period. Our greens program, watering at a minimum 6 to 8 minutes a night will use around to gallons per night. We rely heavily on mother nature and usually Arkansas 60 per year rainfall is adequate. All preparation this July has been geared to getting ready for a Great 2018 Maumelle Classic. The crew has been bearing through the heat and has the course looking awesome. The greens, after being vented most of June and July, are finally getting where I expect them, and not to worry, they will be every bit as great after the classic. Along with venting, a vigorous and weekly light verti-cutting and top-dressing has been done, along with daily speed roll 4 to 5 times a week. Granite markers edged, bunkers edged, and hopefully all other detail work than sets us apart from the average course. Bush hogging natives, and along river bank has been ongoing, and tree trimming down right side of 12, 15 senior tee, and 16 approach were completed. Remember we will perform our 2 nd core aerification on the greens following the classic, thanks everyone for your patience during this process. Thank you to everyone who helps us out on the course, we couldn t be where we are or where we want to be without all of you. I can t believe August is almost here, we will be gearing up for some improvement projects this fall and will let you all know once approved and lined out. See you on the course.
