Minimum clearance f 12 inches frm the back and sides f the Pwer Burner t adjacent cmbustible cnstructin must be maintained. Keep yur Pwer Burner in an area clear and free frm cmbustible materials, gasline and ther flammable vaprs and liquids. 7. DO NOT bstruct the flw f cmbustin and ventilatin air t this appliance. Keep the ventilatin penings f the cylinder enclsure free and clear frm debris. 8. Check all gas cnnectins fr leaks with sapy water slutin and brush. Never use an pen flame. (Reference page 6 fr leak test prcedure). 9. Check flexible hses fr cuts and wear that may affect the safety befre each use. 10. Always use cautin when perating the pwer burner in a windy area. 11. Never use the Pwer Burner withut the drip pan installed and push all the way t the back f the Pwer Burner. Withut the drip pan, ht liquid and debris culd leak dwnward and prduce a fire hazard. 12. The pressure regulatr supplied with the Twin Eagles Gas Pwer Burner must be used. Replacement pressure regulatrs must be thse specified by Twin Eagles. 6 GETTING STARTED 1. Remve all packaging materials, labels and prtective plastic film. DO NOT LEAVE UNIT UNDER THE SUN WITH PROTECTIVE PLASTIC FILM ON FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AS IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE THE FILM. 2. Check t ensure that all Pwer Burner accessries listed belw are included. 7 LOCATING THE POWER BURNER This gas appliance is designed and certified fr utdr use nly. D nt lcate this Pwer Burner under verhead cmbustible surfaces. D nt perate the Pwer Burner inside a building, garage, recreatin vehicle r any enclsed area. CAUTION shuld be taken when grills are used near glass, vinyl siding r ther temperature sensitive cnstructin materials. In sme cases it may be necessary t increase the clearance arund the grill t avid damage t vinyl siding. Check with the manufacturer f the siding material fr details. When chsing an area, cnsider expsure t wind, prximity t traffic paths and length f gas supply line. Keep gas supply lines as shrt as pssible t reduce pressure drp. Keep the Pwer Burner away frm windy area but keep the Pwer Burner in a well-ventilated area. D nt bstruct the flw f cmbustin and ventilatin air arund the Pwer Burner. The supprting edges f the Pwer Burner must be lcated level and flat. The cunter shuld als be leveled. CLEARANCE TO COMBUSTIBLE CONSTRUCTION A minimum clearance f 12 frm the sides and 6 frm the back f the Pwer Burner t adjacent vertical cmbustible cnstructin must be maintained. 8 GAS SAFETY REQUIREMENTS Each appliance is set and tested at the factry fr the type f gas supply t be used. Identify the type f gas, either natural gas r LP gas and make sure that the marking n the data plate (rating plate) matches the gas being supplied t the Pwer Burner. The data plate is lcated n the panel behind the cntrl panel f the Pwer Burner. Remve the drip pan t visually access the nameplate label frm the frnt f the Pwer Burner. A secnd label with mdel number and serial number is lcated under the right side f the cntrl panel. All gas cnnectins shuld be made by a qualified technician and in accrdance with lcal cdes and rdinances. The installatin must cnfrm with lcal cdes r, in the absence f lcal cdes, with either the Natinal Fuel Gas Cde, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, Natural Gas and Prpane Installatin Cde, CSA B149.1 r Prpane Strage and Handling Cde, B149.2 WARNING: CHECK TO ENSURE THAT THE GAS SUPPLY HOSE DOES NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH ANY HOT SURFACE OF THE POWER BURNER. NEVER CONNECT THE POWER BURNER TO AN UNREGULATED GAS SUPPLY. L.P. GAS SAFETY REQUIREMENT The LP-gas supply cylinder must be cnstructed and marked in accrdance with the Specificatins fr LP-gas Cylinders f the U.S. Department f Transprtatin (D.O.T.) r the Natinal Standards f Canada CAN/CSA- B339, Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes fr the Transprtatin f Dangerus Gds, and Cmmissin, as applicable; and 1. Prvided with a listed verfilling preventin device. 2. Prvided with a cylinder cnnectin device cmpatible with the cnnectin fr utdr cking appliances. It must be prvided with a shut-ff valve terminating in gas tank valve utlet. It must include a cllar t prtect the cylinder valve. The cylinder supply system must be arranged fr vapr withdrawal. D nt perate the gas grill indrs r in any enclsed area. If the gas grill is nt in use, the gas must be turned ff at the supply cylinder. If the grill is t be stred indrs, discnnect the gas supply cylinder and leave the cylinder utdrs ut f reach f children and must nt be stred in a building, garage r any ther enclsed area. 3

9 LP GAS HOOK-UP CAUTION: Prvide adequate ventilatin hles in the enclsure fr safety purpses in the event f a gas leak. A typical LP gas installatin is shwn n the right. Make sure that the factry-supplied regulatr is used and installed with the arrw mark n the regulatr pinting twards the Pwer Burner. D nt use any replacement regulatr ther than that specified by Twin Eagles. Use nly pipe sealants that are apprved fr use with natural and LP gases. An installer-supplied gas shutff valve must be installed in an accessible lcatin. (Reference: page 6 fr leak test prcedure). Althugh LP gas cylinder may be used, it is nt recmmended due t the large amunt f gas cnsumptin f the unit and will freeze up the LP gas cylinder Nte: An enclsure fr LP gas cylinder must be vented n the level f the cylinder valve and at flr level. The effectiveness f the pening(s) fr purpses f ventilatin shall be determined with the LP gas supply cylinder in place. This shall be accmplished by ne f the fllwing: a. One side f the enclsure shall be fully pen; r b. Fr a cylinder enclsure having fur sides, a tp and a bttm, and intended fr installatin in a built-in enclsure: 1. At least ne ventilatin pening shall be prvided n the expsed exterir side f the enclsure lcated within 5 in (1.27mm) f the tp f the enclsure and unbstructed. The pening(s) shall have a ttal free area f nt less than 1 in²/lb (14.2 cm²/kg) f stred fuel capacity. 2. At least ne ventilatin pening shall be prvided n the expsed, exterir side f the enclsure 1 in. (25.4 mm) r less frm the flr level and shall have a ttal free area f nt less than ½ in²/lb (7.1 cm²/kg) f stred fuel capacity. The upper edge shall be n mre than 5 in (127 mm) abve the flr level. 3. Every pening shall have a minimum dimensin s as t permit the entrance f 1/8 in (3.2 mm) rd.! WARNING! DO NOT STORE SPARE LP-GAS CYLINDER UNDER OR NEAR THIS APPLIANCE. NEVER FILL THE CYLINDER BEYOND 80 PERCENT FULL. FAILURE TO DO SO A FIRE CAUSING DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY MAY OCCUR. USE ONLY A 20-lbs (5 GALLON CAPACITY) GAS CYLINDER DO NOT USE A DENTED OR RUSTED LP CYLINDER NEVER USE A CYLINDER WITH A DAMAGED VALVE ALWAYS CHECK FOR LEAKS AFTER CHANGING THE LP CYLINDER THE LP REGULATOR AND HOSE SUPPLIED WITH THIS UNIT MUST BE USED WITHOUT ALTERATION 4

10 NATURAL GAS HOOK-UP The installatin must cnfrm with lcal cdes r, in the absence f lcal cdes, with either the Natinal Fuel Gas Cde, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, Natural Gas and Prpane Installatin Cde, CSA B149.1 r Prpane Strage and Handling Cde, B This gas appliance and its individual shutff valve must be discnnected frm the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing f that system at the test pressures in excess f 1/2 psi (3.5 kpa). 2. This appliance must be islated frm the gas supply piping system by clsing its individual manual shutff valve during any pressure testing f the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal t r less than 1/2 psi (3.5 kpa). If the gas Pwer Burner is factry built fr natural gas, the regulatr supplied is set fr 4 water clumn. The regulatr is cnvertible t 10 in wc (2.49 kpa) water clumn fr system LP applicatin. D nt use with a 20-lb LP cylinder. Make sure that the regulatr is set fr natural gas. T check, remve the brass hex cap. Yu will find the cnversin plastic pin attached t the cap t the underside f the cap. If the disc (1/2 in. diameter) f the pin is clse t the cap, then the regulatr is set fr natural gas. If the disc is at the tip f the pin, away frm the brass cap, the regulatr is set fr system LP applicatin. T cnvert t natural gas, remve the plastic cnversin pin and invert and replace it back in a manner such that the disc is clse t the brass cap. Fr bth natural and LP, the maximum inlet pressure is 14 in wc (3.5 kpa). Make sure that the factry-supplied regulatr is used and installed with the arrw mark n the regulatr pinting twards the gas Pwer Burner. D nt use any replacement regulatr ther than that specified by Twin Eagles. Use nly pipe sealants that are apprved fr use with natural and LP gases. An installer-supplied gas shutff valve must be installed in an accessible lcatin. REGULATOR IS SET TO NATURAL GAS REGULATOR IS SET TO LP GAS 5

11 LEAK TEST CAUTION BEFORE LIGHTING Finding and/r fixing a gas leak is NOT a DO IT YOURSELF prcedure. NEVER USE THE POWER BURNER WITHOUT FIRST LEAK TESTING THE GAS CONNECTIONS WARNING: DO NOT USE AN OPEN FLAME TO CHECK FOR LEAKS. USE OF AN OPEN FLAME COULD RESULT IN A FIRE, EXPLOSION, AND BODILY HARM. DO NOT SMOKE WHILE PERFORMING THE LEAK TEST! T prevent fire r explsin hazard, DO NOT use r permit surces f ignitin in the area while perfrming a leak test. Perfrm leak test utdrs nly. Check t ensure that flexible hse d nt have any cuts and wear that may affect the safety befre each use. Only the factry supplied regulatr must be used. Use nly replacement regulatr specified by Twin Eagles. LEAK TEST 1. Prepare a leak testing slutin f sudsy water by mixing in a spray bttle with half liquid sap and half water. 2. Cnfirm that all cntrl knbs are in the OFF psitin. 3. Turn the main gas valve ON. 4. Apply leak testing slutin by spraying n the pipe jints, fitting, and hse. 5. A gas leak is detected if, a. There is a faint gas smell and/r b. grwing bubbles appear n any f the cnnectin pints and/r hse, DO NOT attempt t ignite Pwer Burner and IMMEDIATELY turn ff the gas supply valve. 6. When there is a gas leak, call a qualified service technician. DO NOT use the Pwer Burner until the leak is crrected. 6

12 BURNER FLAME / AIR SHUTTER ADJUSTMENT Each grill burner is tested and adjusted at the factry prir t shipment; hwever, variatins in the lcal gas supply may make it necessary t adjust the burners. The flames f the U-burners shuld be visually checked. Flames shuld be blue and stable with little t n yellw tips, n excessive nise r lifting. If any f these cnditins exist, remve the burner and check t see if any air shutter r burner prts are blcked by dirt, debris, spider webs, etc. if it is clear, the air shutter may need t be adjusted. ADJUSTING THE GRILL BURNER FLAME - The amunt f air is cntrlled by a sheet metal cup at the inlet f the burner called an air shutter. It is lcked in place by a set screw which must be lsened prir t lighting the burner fr adjustment. The air shutter adjustment screws are accessible with a phillips screwdriver. Lsen the lck screw f the air shutter. Adjust accrding t the fllwing directins. Be careful as the burner may be very ht. If the flame is yellw, indicating insufficient air, turn the air shutter cunter-clckwise t allw mre air t the burner. If the flame is nisy and tends t lift away frm the burner, indicating t much air, turn the air shutter clckwise. Remember t tighten the set screw prir t re-installing the burner. ENSURE THAT THE BURNERS ARE SITTING PROPERLY ON THE ORIFICES BEFORE LIGHTING THE BURNERS. 7

13 ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS The appliance shuld nly be taken apart by a qualified technician, r electrical shck may ccur. It is rated at 120V, 60Hz, and 2.2A. REMINDER: Keep any electrical supply crd and the fuel supply hse away frm any heated features. Electrical equipment prvided with the utdr cking appliance shall fllw these guidelines: 1. T prtect against electrical shck, d nt immerse crd r plugs in water r ther liquid; 2. Unplug frm the utlet when nt in use and befre cleaning. Allw t cl befre putting n r taking ff parts; 3. D nt perate any utdr cking gas appliance with a damaged crd, plug, r after the appliance malfunctins r has been damaged in any manner. Cntact the manufacturer fr repair; 4. D nt let crd hang ver the edge r tuch ht surfaces; 5. D nt us an utdr cking gas appliance fr purpses ther than intended; 6. When cnnecting, first cnnect plug t the utdr cking gas appliance then plug appliance int utlet; 7. Use nly Grund Fault Interrupter (GFI) prtected circuit with this utdr cking gas appliance; 8. Never remve the grunding plug r use with an adapter f tw prngs; and 9. Use nly extensin crds with three prng grunding plug, rated fr the pwer f the equipment, and apprved fr utdr use with a W-A marking. 14 CUT-OUT DIMENSIONS NOTE: IT IS RECOMMENDED TO BUILD THE ENCLOSURE FOR THE POWER BURNER 6-12 LOWER THAN THE COUNTERTOP. WARNING: The Pwer Burner must be installed in a NON-COMBUSTIBLE ENCLOSURE ONLY. 9

15 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LIGHTING THE POWER BURNER DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIGHT THE POWER BURNER IF YOU SMELL GAS WARNING! IT IS CRITICAL THAT THE GAS BURNER IS PROPERLY INSTALLED WITH THEIR ORIFICES INSIDE THE BURNERS AIR SHUTTERS. If nt prperly installed, gas may leak utside f the burner that culd lead t fire, ptential damage t yur Pwer Burner and bdily injury. Inspect the gas supply piping r hse prir t turning the gas ON. If there is evidence f cuts, wear, r abrasin, it must be replaced prir t use. The replacement pressure regulatr and hse assembly must be the type specified by the manufacturer. D nt use the Pwer Burner if the dr f gas is present. The pressure regulatr and hse assembly supplied with the units must be used. If the unit is LP, screw the regulatr and hand tighten t the valve f the cylinder and leak check the hse and regulatr cnnectins with a sap and water slutin befre perating the Pwer Burner. Reference page 6 fr leak test prcedure. Always keep yur face and bdy as far away as pssible when lighting. Refer t spiders and insects warning and prcedure under the cleaning and maintenance page f this manual. TO LIGHT THE POWER BURNER S BURNER Lighting the Pwer Burner 1. Open the gas supply shut-ff valve. 2. Push in the knb and verify that the ht surface igniter glws. If the igniter des nt glw, verify fr prper pwer supply. (Reference page 8 fr electrical requirements). 3. Once the glwing is verified fr 5 secnds simultaneusly push-in and turn the knb cunter-clck-wise t the biggest flame marking n the bezel. Hld the knb pushed in fr 5 secnds. Once yu see r hear a flame yu can release the knb. CAUTION: If ignitin des nt take place within 5 secnds, turn knb t the OFF psitin, wait fr five minutes and repeat step 3. Match/BBQ Lighter Lighting Instructins: If there is n electrical pwer supply available r if ht surface igniter will nt light the burner, the burner can be lit manually using a lighted lng match, taper r BBQ lighter. 1. Push and turn the knb cunter-clck-wise t the biggest flame marking n the bezel. Hld the knb pushed in fr 5 secnds. 2. Insert a lit match r BBQ lighter thru the grates and near the tp f the burner. Once yu see r hear a flame yu can release the knb. Imprtant: If burner fails t light within 5 secnds, turn ff gas and wait 5 minutes befre repeating the prcess. Warning: If yu smell gas, shutff the gas supply and immediately check fr leaks using the sapy water technique utlined in the Leak Test sectin (Pg 6). 10

Peridic cleaning will help avid accumulatins f flammable grease, fats, and ther debris. Cautin: Always allw the Pwer Burner t cl befre cleaning. Stainless Steel & General Prduct Care T keep yur Pwer Burner free f surface crrsin and in gd wrking rder, it is imprtant t take additinal precautins under certain cnditins. If yur Pwer Burner is lcated in crrsive cnditins, such as: A castal envirnment where crrsive salty air is present Near a swimming pl, ht tub r water feature with expsure t crrsive pl chemicals and/r chlrinated water Areas where muriatic acid (hydrchlric acid) r ther crrsive cleaning slutins are used t clean cncrete and masnry Areas where crrsive masnry dust and debris are created by cutting stne r mixing cements These cnditins can create a highly crrsive envirnment that will cause the crrsins resistant type 304 stainless steel t develp surface xidatin, crrsins r rust. TWIN EAGLES prducts have been tested in saline slutins, highly chlrinated slutins and have been tested against expsure t highly acidic fds. The test results prved the type 304 stainless steel can withstand expsure ver prlnged perids f time. Hwever, the cnditins utlined abve, alng with neglect, can lead t surface crrsin r rust. ATTENTION: D nt allw fd particles r grease t be left n the surfaces f the Pwer Burner. These can attract rdents, which are unsanitary and are likely t cause physical damage by chewing n the wiring, which can cause permanent damage t the electrical cmpnents. Specks f grease can gather n the surface f the stainless steel and get baked-n. These can be remved by using a mild abrasive pad with a stainless steel cleaner. Use the mildest cleaner and always scrub in the directin f the grain. D nt use steel wl t clean any surfaces n the Pwer Burner. In the event that surface crrsin has develped n the stainless steel, it is typically nt the stainless steel that is crrding but crrsive particles that have been depsited n the surface. WARNING: It is recmmended that yur TWIN EAGLES prducts be kept dry and cvered when nt in use. This is even mre imprtant when lng-term strage is intended. If yu are lcated alng the cast r in the desert, wind driven sand is extremely abrasive and can pit and scratch the stainless steel. Keep yur TWIN EAGLES prducts cvered when nt in use. KEEP IN MIND: TWIN EAGLES prducts are made f all welded stainless steel. It is nn-rusting and nn-magnetic. Never clean the stainless steel when it is ht. After the initial use, certain areas f the Pwer Burner may disclr. This is a nrmal disclratin caused by the stainless steel being expsed t high heat. 11

17 GRATES Rund Grates The easiest way t clean the grates is t scrub them with a barbeque brush immediately after cking is cmpleted and the flame is turned ff. Wear a barbeque mitt t prtect yur hands frm the heat and steam. Dip a brass bristle barbeque brush in tap water and scrub the ht grates. Dip the brush frequently in tap water. Steam, created as water cmes in cntact with the ht Pwer Burner, helps lsen fd particles stuck in the Pwer Burner. These fd particles will either get burned r fall int the cleaning pan. Cleaning f the Pwer Burner wuld be lnger and mre difficult if the Pwer Burner grates are allwed t cl befre cleaning. Heavy Duty Grate Use warm water and sap t clean the heavy duty grates. Use nn-abrasive spnge t clean ff the fd particles. BURNERS Burners are made f heavy gauge brass and can be cleaned using a bristle brush, warm water and sap. Check every prt hle fr clgs. Use a wire pin t clean ut clgged prts. Make sure the burner is dry befre installing it back t the Pwer Burner. DRIP PAN The drip pan cllects grease, liquid and fallen fd particles. Allw the pan and its cntents t cl befre cleaning. Slide the pan ut and wipe it clean. Make sure the drip pan is fully inserted back int the Pwer Burner. It is highly recmmended t clean the pan after every use t avid any pssibility f a grease fire. DO NOT use the Pwer Burner withut the drip pan pushed all the way t the back f the Pwer Burner unit. SPIDER AND INSECT WARNING Spiders and ther insects can nest in the burners and rifices f this and any ther utdr prducts, which causes the gas t flw frm the frnt f the burner. This can create a dangerus cnditin that can cause a fire behind the valve panel, damaging the Pwer Burner and making it unsafe t perate. Inspect the burners nce a year, r if the Pwer Burner has nt been used fr mre than a mnth r if any f the fllwing cnditins ccur: 1.
