Withdrawals before the first class are subject to a $5.00 fee. Withdrawals after the first class but before the second class are subject to a $10.00 fee. Withdrawals after the second class but before the third class are subject to a $20.00 fee Withdrawals made after the third class will NOT be refunded. Refund request forms are available at the reception desk and must be completed in order to process a refund. Bishop s University recreation centre reserves the right to limit enrollment or cancel programs. Inappropriate behavior during recreation and/or aquatic courses will not be tolerated. PARKING S Parking permits allow members to park in the reserved S parking spots in front of the new entrance as well as in the P1 and P2 parking lots. Permits are available at the Sports Centre Reception desk during opening hours. 4 months 8 months 1 year $50.00 $70.00 $85.00 (Seniors $60.00) A Recreation Parking permit allows you to park in the P1 and P2 parking lots during your registered course time frame. Red Cross Swim Preschool is an eight-level stand-alone program for four-month to six-year-old children that allows swimmers to enter various levels based on age and ability. Each level is represented by an animal mascot that is incorporated into the content and makes the lesson engaging and fun, through songs and activities. 9 CHILDREN & PARENTS Rates include taxes (if applicable) MOMS IN SHAPE (12 weeks) Intended for the new moms who wish to get back in shape, this postnatal course will enable you to move with your child. Each course is comprised of cardiovascular exercises, toning and stretching. All the exercises are carried out in respect of the body and rhythm of the new mom. 10 CHILDREN GYMNASTICS Gymnastics 1 (4-5 Y/O) develops the skills required for further gymnastics classes. Jumps, rolls and balances help your child continue to develop their gross motor skills. Parents are encouraged to stay to join their child for the last 10 minutes of class. Gymnastics 2 (6-7 Y/O) building on gymnastics 1 further work on rolls and jumps as well as beam work and flexibility. Parents are invited to observe the class. Gymnastics 3 (8-9 Y/O) more advanced elements of gymnastics are the focus of this class. Parents are invited to observe the class. Gymnastics 4 (10+ Y/O) Building on Gymnastics 3 this is the highest level class. This class is not appropriate for children who haven t taken a previous gymnastics class. 11 CHILDREN - BASKETBALL SMALL BALL Small Ball is a fully inclusive youth basketball program designed for BOYS & GIRLS aged 5-11 years. The program teaches children the fundamental skills of basketball, using equipment and a game that has been modified to suit the needs and abilities of youngsters. They will learn game strategy and will play a game each week. During the first hour of practice, players will learn a variety of team and individual fundamentals. The second hour of practice will consist of a league match. Please note this is not to be confused with Small Ball. Open to BOYS and GIRLS grades 5, 6 and 7. The academy will provide an introduction to crucial off-court aspects in addition to on-court development such as functional movements that allows players to develop strength, speed, agility and conditioning. 12 JUDO JUDO CLUB DONINI (12 weeks) NEW! Judo is a Japanese word meaning JU (flexibility) and DO (way or path). Judo is a very dynamic combat sport that demands both physical and mental discipline. The mission of Judo Club Donini is to present a methodology in-line with the development of the individual through Judo, including team work and participation in a social context, while developing different abilities to controlling ones emotions, respecting others and respecting the different rules of Judo. Trained by Renato Donini, a third degree level black belt. Renato has more than 20 years of experience teaching Judo. In 2010, Renato became a double world champion in competition. 13 ADULT (12 weeks) YOGA Yoga is a great way to improve fitness, strength, flexibility and balance. This dynamic class will give you a workout and also leave you feeling rejuvenated in body and mind. Yoga is non-competitive and emphasis is placed on mindfulness and body awareness. Please bring your own Yoga mat. As a fighting art, Ryusei Karate includes hand and foot strikes that are typically associated with karate, as well as throws, joint locks and pressure-point tactics derived from Okinawan todi. 17 ADVANCED CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS BRONZE MEDALLION The successful completion of this class will allow you to take the Bronze Cross class. Pre-requisite: 13 years old and Junior Level 10 or Bronze Star certification. Material: The Canadian Lifeguarding manual ($50) and a pocket mask ($20) are mandatory for the class. Date: TBD Where: Pool BRONZE CROSS The successful completion of this class will allow you to be an assistant lifeguard and take the National Lifeguard class. Pre-requisite: Bronze Medallion. Material: The Canadian Lifeguarding manual ($50) and a pocket mask ($20) are mandatory for the class. JANUARY-APRIL 2019 (DATES TBD) NATIONAL LIFEGUARD RECERTIFICATION Note: You will be required to present your former certificate at the class. TBD: PUT YOUR NAME ON THE WAITING LIST FOR FREE NATIONAL LIFEGUARD The successful completion of this class will allow you to be a lifeguard. Pre-requisite: 16 years old to write the exam, successful completion of Bronze Cross, and a general first aide course. Material: The Alert manual ($45) and a pocket mask ($20) are mandatory for the class. TBD: PUT YOUR NAME ON THE WAITING LIST FOR FREE CPR-AED & FIRST AID Training is intended for, amongst others, daycare workers, students, teachers and employees in healthcare settings. It is also suitable for the public at large. Participants will learn to clear obstructed airways, perform CPR, and become certified in automated external defibrillator (AED) use. First Aid training also includes; common accidents, bleeding and wound care, thermal burns, shock and fractures. Please note, you will not be taught how to take a pulse.
