1 CentreSpot The official news bulletin of the Essex Senior Football League Season 2017/18 Issue #14 Sunday 29 th October Round-Up By Peter Dudley Wadham Lodge 2 Ilford 0 Lodge ended Ilford's unbeaten run with an impressive home win over them at Kitchener Road in Walthamstow on Friday night. Dwayde James opened the scoring in the 9 th minute with Sherwin Stanley supplying the other goal in the second half. The win takes Lodge into double figures in points and although they remain bottom they are now in touching distance of the teams above them. Ilford stay ninth following this defeat. Basildon United 4 Burnham Ramblers 0 The Bees remain second and two points behind leaders Takeley after thrashing Burnham Ramblers CentreSpot Essex Senior League. Edited by Scott Lanza Page 1
2 at The Hive. Skipper Tom Barton gave the hosts a 14th minute lead before Luke Hornsley doubled their advantage three minutes later. Two minutes into the second period Hornsley netted again and it was four on 55 minutes through Daniel Dafter. Ramblers three match winning streak comes to an end and they remain in 16th place. Clapton 1 Tower Hamlets 0 The Tons netted an 82nd minute winner to settle a very tight game against Tower Hamlets at The Old Spotted Dog. Both sides also ended the game with ten men but Clapton's win sees them in sixth whilst Hamlets are now down a place into eighth. Enfield Great Wakering Rovers 7 Rovers put in a clinical performance to demolish Enfield at The Harlow Arena. The visitors took the lead on four minutes when a Jake Gordon free kick flew past Corderoy from twenty-five yards and it was two on six minutes when Billy Johnson had a simple finish after a swift counter attack. It became was three in the 17th minute when Neil Richmond got into the box before cutting inside and slotting inside the near post, t before a fourth came midway through the half when keeper Corderoy was lobbed from distance by Aaron Russell. Rovers made it five with nine minutes of the first half remaining when Russell was allowed time inside the box to fire in via a deflection past Corderoy. The sixth didn't arrive until fifteen minutes from time when Gordon converted from the spot after Corderoy was judged to have brought the forward down, and it was seven with thirteen minutes left when a Jay Nash corner went straight in. Joe Johnson did manage a consolation with two minutes to go but this was a day to forget for the hosts who stay fifth bottom. Southend Manor 0 Hackney Wick 3 Wick stunned Manor at Southchurch Park to grab only their fourth win of the season. Ibrahim Camara put the visitors ahead midway through the first half before Jeffrey Idemudia doubled their lead seven minutes before half time. Jake Casey sealed Wick's victory with a third goal two minutes from time. Sporting Bengal United 2 FC Romania 6 FCR hit six at Mile End and pile on more misery for the hosts who have now lost seven games in a row as they drop to thirteenth place whilst FCR remain in fourth after their ninth win of the campaign. Florin Pop laid down a hat trick with Mihai Dinu, Cosmin Anton and George Taban also getting on the score sheet. David Vaughan scored both the Sporting Bengal replies. Stansted 0 Redbridge 2 The Motormen stay third after a hard fought win over Stansted at Hargrave Park. The visitors took the lead three minutes before half time through a Hutchinson strike from the edge of the box. Josh Hutchinson then netted with eight minutes remaining when he slotted beyond keeper Pitman and sealed the points for the visitors. CentreSpot Essex Senior League. Edited by Scott Lanza Page 2
3 Takeley 2 Hullbridge Sports 0 Two second half goals saw Takeley to another league win, this time against Hullbridge Sports, to maintain their two point lead at the top. The opening goal didn't arrive until the 68th minute when Jason Todd poked home from a yard out and then six minutes later the hosts sealed the win when a quick break after a Hullbridge free kick ended with Todd making no mistake to score his second of the game. Reserves Round-Up It was the 2 nd Round of the BBC Essex Premier Cup on Saturday and as usual it offered up its usual thrills and spills. Grays Athletic made progress at the expense of Great Wakering Rovers in an all- ESL affair that ended in a 2-o win for Grays with Rivaldo Nunes scoring both goals. Redbridge also progress after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Arlesford Colne Rangers that saw a goal apiece from Jacob Dingli, Ince Ryan and Yusuf Olajide. Hullbridge Sports however crash out of the competition after a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Great Baddow. A brace from Anthony Fox with Dean Merrett also adding a goal was not enough to see Heybridge Swifts through as Old Chelmsfordians went on to win the game in extra time 4-3. A Max Hall hat trick; a brace from Oliver Green and a Shane Holyland strike ensured that Rochford Town went through at the expense of Burnham Ramblers Res who scored twice via Edison Tereziu but ended up on the wrong end of a 6-2 score line. Sungate also knocked out an Essex Senior League opponent as they entertained Stansted and then sent the Airportmen packing with a 5-1 defeat. Tyrell Bull, Alfie Branch and Terrell Hunter hit the target for Takeley but strikes from Antoine Fontaine, Boateng Agyemang, Josh Woodcock and Dominic Herbert saw Snaresbrook through with a 4-3 away victory. Programmes For Sale A collection of non-league programmes dating back to the 1960 s are being offered for sale by a collector who is looking to offload some of his collection. Issues from Chelmsford City, Clapton, Dagenham, East Ham United, Ilford, Leyton, Leytonstone, Sawbridgeworth Town, Walthamstow Avenue are just some of the clubs. 4 FA Vase 2nd Round Five Essex Senior League teams went into last Monday s FA Vase 2 nd Round draw with four of those teams being paired together. Tower Hamlets, who came through a penalty shoot-out at Halstead Town in the 1 st Round, have been drawn at home to Enfield Tower Hamlets have all ready had a Vase tie with Hackney Wick in this season s competition whereas Enfield will be facing their first Essex Senior League opponent having taken on and beaten three teams from the Thurlow Nunn League to reach the 2 nd round. Great Wakering Rovers started travelled to Holland in the last round and now seem to be on a European extravaganza as they have been drawn at home to FC Romania their third all-esl tie having despatched of Sporting Bengal United and West Essex in the qualifying rounds. It does mean that the Essex Senior League is guaranteed two teams in the 3 rd Round and that could become three if Hullbridge Sports, the only Essex Senior League team to have drawn outside opposition, can overcome Spartan South Midland outfit Wembley. Ties are to be played on Saturday 11 th November. Handbook Changes Hackney Wick Secretary: Ben Lacey Tel: clubsecretaryhwfc@gmail.com Manager: Francis Luke Tel: CentreSpot Essex Senior League.
