The Cardinals were playing tough for the entire game, but was unable to keep up with the pace of the Brainerd Warriors. Joshua Kietzmann was able to score the Cards lone goal in the 20th minute with the assist coming from Graham Peterson. The Warriors were able to convert in the 6th, 16th, 18th, 19th, 50th, 63rd, and 69th minutes of play. The Cardinals next match will be Tuesday at Fergus Falls. JV kick-off at 5pm, Varsity kick-off at 7pm. The Cardinal Boy s Soccer team is currently 2-5. FOOTBALL VARSITY Alexandria 17 Sartell 16 The Cardinal football team earned their first victory of the season in come-back fashion. The Cards were down 9 in the 4th and came back to win following a field goal by Zach Wospeka with under 2 minutes to play. Touchdowns were scored by Matthew Carlsen (Wosepka kick) on a run and a TD pass to Evan Lattimer from Carlsen. Defense was led by Wade Odland, Derek Pesta and Daniel Jantzen. The Cards will travel to Brainerd on Friday night for a 7pm kickoff with the Warriors. CLUB NEWS MOUNTAIN BIKE CLUB The 2018 Mt. bike season kicked off in Rockford MN Sunday. The Three Rivers County Park featured a fast dry course. Many racers we're completing the 4.2 mile loop under 15 min. A fantastic start to the season for the Mountaineers. Placing second in the Middle school standings and third in the High school division. Captain Stormy Hegg was the top points scorer with a 7th place finish in the varsity division. Izzy Rasmussen had a perfect race taking the lead off the starting line and never looked back, finishing first by 30 seconds in the JV2 division. Other top point scorers were Logan Hegg with an 8th place finish and Tausha Lange in 10th. Next Sunday, the Mountaineers will race in Rochester with another fast course in combination with steep hill climbs. POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL Get a Team together and Sign up Now!
