With the club s 2-1 win at Indy Eleven it was Steel FC s first road points of the year. Last season, Steel FC collected 21 points away from Goodman Stadium. CHILUYA FROM DISTANCE After Indy Eleven found an equalizer in the 70th minute, Steel FC needed little time as defender Prosper Chiluya struck from distance for his first goal as a member of Steel FC. On loan from Kafue Celtic FC, Chiluya became the 25th player in Steel FC history to find the back of the net. HERBERS NAMED USL TEAM OF THE WEEK After aiding in a pair of victories Union midfielder Fabian Herbers was named to the USL Team of the Week. Herbers, had a pair of standout performances scoring for his first goal of the year against New York, finishing off a counter-attack with a right-footed shot for a second-half insurance goal. Four days later, the Ahaus, Germany, native showcased his distribution by setting up Santi Moar s opening goal. Steel FC is looking to build off its strong form against Ottawa established last season, where the club claimed four of a possible six points against the Canadian club. PREVIOUS MEETING Steel FC s first trip to TD Place Stadium proved historic and victorious as the squad overcame an unfortunate start to win 2-1. After conceding an own goal, the club answered with 66th minute strike from Chris Nanco. 15 mintues later, Santi Moar pounced an open chance inside the box to secure the win and make goalkeeper Tomas Romero the youngest goalkeeper in USL history to claim a league victory. COACH S CORNER Bethlehem Steel FC head coach Brendan Burke: On picking up the win at Indy Eleven Really pleased with the effort. I thought in terms of the style of play, we were similar teams but I m glad that ultimately our quality showed through in Fabian [Herbers] and Santi [Moar] on the first goal. I thought in terms of our energy level, we were fantastic. If we can replicate that like we did against Red Bulls II, that same grit and fight and combine that with our style of play from the first few games then I think we ll be exactly where we want to be and now it s about maintaining the momentum. On what has contributed to winning three of the last four matches We said when were in little down spell that we were performing at a really high level and not getting results so it was about believing and sticking to the system and sticking together. The guys have done that and that is 100 percent credit to the players. On preparing for Ottawa and the challenges they present You are playing in their environment which is difficult when you play anyone and Ottawa are in good form right now. They are similar to us and have put a few good performances together and not gotten results and now they have put some good performances together against good teams. They drew Red Bulls II at home 0-0, they beat Atlanta 2-0 and got a draw at Charleston where we weren t able to. We are very aware that they are a strong team that is experienced across the board. There aren t many young players on their team and the ones that are, like Adonijah Reid are game changers.

Steel FC dominated possession against in the first meeting against Ottawa, controlling the play with 70 percent possession but it wasn t enough as it ended with the club s first draw. Conneh provided Steel FC with its only goal, scoring his sixth of the season and his eighth tally of his career. Ottawa equalized on Michael Salazar s goal in the 70th minute to escape with a point. Steel FC kept its composure after an intense opening minutes as the club looked to capitalize. The rookie duo of Chris Nanco and Santi Moar led the attack for Steel FC, as the club snapped a two-match losing streak in the process. Nanco and Moar each tallied their third goals of the season while Jamaican international Cory Burke collected his first assist of the campaign. With the win, goalkeeper Tomas Romero made USL history, as 16-year-old became the youngest keeper in the league s history to pick up a victory. The mark adds to a growing list for the U-17 El Salvadorian starter as he had previously earned the league s youngest keeper to start a league match and earn a draw. After numerous chances, Ottawa found the back of the net in the 70th minute as substitute midfielder Ryan Williams found space along the sideline. The 26-year-old lifted a cross past Steel FC goalkeeper John McCarthy to connect with Salazar for the tying goal.

8 2018 BETHELEHEM STEEL FC TECHNICAL STAFF Head coach Brendan Burke Burke is in his third season as head coach of Bethlehem Steel FC, coaching the squad to an regular season record during the club s first two seasons in the modern era. He was formally introduced as the club s first head coach on Oct. 29, 2015 and recently signed an extension to remain with Steel FC for the foreseeable future. During his two seasons with Bethlehem Steel FC, he has navigated 71 different starting XI combinations in 73 career matches while guiding four players to first team contracts with Derrick Jones in 2016, the duo of Cory Burke and Matt Real after the 2017 season and Olivier Mbaizo earlier this year. Overall, Burke had coached 67 players including 25 players with ties to the first team and 13 from the Philadelphia Union Academy the past three seasons. Prior to joining Steel FC, Burke served as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Union from 2011 through He was heavily involved in all levels of the U.S. Soccer pyramid, including serving as head coach of the Union s PDL affiliate Reading United from where he had a record of During his time with Reading, Burke coached 49 players that signed professional contracts including Ray Gaddis, C.J. Sapong, John McCarthy and Matt Hedges. Burke served as associate head coach at Northeastern University in Assistant coach Stephen Hogan Hogan, who formerly served as the head coach of the Philadelphia Union s PDL affiliate, Reading United, is in his third season with Steel FC. Hogan guided the PDL squad to a record in his two seasons with Reading United. The club went and won the Mid-Atlantic Division title along with an appearance in the Eastern Conference finals. Hogan followed up with an even stronger record in 2017, tying for the most wins in the 72-team league. During the season that saw the club reach the postseason for the ninth time in 10 seasons, Hogan s squad conceded an Eastern Conference-low 10 goals. As a Reading player under Brendan Burke, he made 52 appearances, second most in club history, while playing from He helped lead the team to the 2009 PDL Regular Season Title and the PDL National Semifinals in 2008 and A native of Dublin, Ireland, Hogan spent two seasons as head coach at the College of Saint Rose s men s soccer program.
