Its architectural style draws from concepts central to motor racing. Chief among these is the idea of dynamic balance - the fine line between speed and traction - as expressed by the cantilevers and inclined glazing and steel panels of the signature marketing and management building. The project s social achievement is the Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Racing Drivers Academy, which aims to select and train young UAE drivers and give them the ability to race and compete at the highest international level.

3 Dynamic balance is achieved on the track when a driver balances the centrifugal force of corners and pushes the limits of possibility. The marketing and management building captures that feeling with a structure that appears active, figuratively leaning into the turns. The client envisioned a futuristic complex, encompassing racing, recreation, retail and residential uses. The marketing and management building would serve as the development s centerpiece with its streamlined profile modeled after the form of a racecar engine. Completed on a fast-track basis, it was the first facility to be built in the $95 million complex, followed immediately by the racetrack and grandstand. The structural glass preserves the building s transparency and takes full advantage of its setting atop the site s highest elevation. Therefore, walls and partitions are kept to a minimum, even on the lower levels of the building. The building s top floor includes some conference rooms and enclosed offices, but is primarily comprised of the luxurious viewing gallery. From this gallery, prospective buyers and guests can see almost every turn of the racetrack below and survey the surrounding development. Sited in the open desert, every aspect of the building must respond to the sun. The exterior s transparency is tempered by large aluminum cantilevers, and the building is oriented at 50 degrees east of north so that the building s floor plates shade each other in the intense afternoon sun.
