1 2007 Pitt Softball Game and Series Information The Panthers (18-31, 4-11 Big East) tied the school record for stolen bases in a season (85), when Valerie Mihalik stole a base in the second St. John s contest. Mihalik is a perfect 7- for-7 in stolen bases this season. Hellon also tallied a school-record six RBI contest against Seton Hall, en route to earning her first Big East Weekly Honor Roll accolade. Despite Pitt sweeping Villanova ( , 4-10) last season, the Wildcats holds a 12-5 series lead over the Panthers. Laura Belardinelli earned her 10th win of the season in a four-hit contest during last year s twinbill. Pitt leads the 9-8 all-time series versus Rutgers (19-26, 6-7). Last season the Panthers swept the Scarlet Knights including an 11-5 eight-inning win in game two, where three Panthers recorded back-to-back-to-back solo home runs. 3 All Aboard... Senior Sheena Hellon earned Big East Weekly Honor Roll accolades on Monday, April 23, after she set a school record with six RBIs in the Seton Hall contest. Hellon also recorded aposted a slugging percentage and the highest on-base percentage of the week. High Octane... Pitt scored 12 runs in one inning during the 16-run shutout at Seton Hall. This is the most runs scored in an inning for the Panthers and the first shutout for Pitt since the 3-0 win over Providence in Match. Production On The Rise... Pitt tallied a season-high 14 RBIs and 17 total bases in the Seton Hall victory. Four Panthers drove in more that one runner and two more Panthers had multi-hit games. Hard At Work... Freshman Kayla Zinger is the only Panther to pitch all eight innings in any of the Panthers five extra-inning games. Currently second on the all-time list, she needs just two wins to own the record. Meghan Bostick is third on that same list with 29 wins. First Win of the Season... The Panthers got their first win of the season against Prairie View A&M. Pitt won the game in only five innings with a final score of 15-1

6 Stingy Pitching... Sophomore Kaitlyn Schuster pitched a complete game shutout against Prairie View A&M earlier this season. Schuster struck out five batters and only gave up four hits in five innings of work. Early Bird Gets The Worm... Pitt is 8-2 when they score in the first inning and 12-2 when leading after four innings. When trailing after four, Pitt has only come back in two of those games. Season Openers... Pitt is 1-9 in season openers. Pitt dropped its 2007 opener to South Carolina this year. The Panthers lone win in an opener was against Indiana (6-4) back in The squad always opens the season on the road in a tournament and made its third-consecutive start at Florida Atlantic. Preseason Pick... This season the Panthers opened Big East play on Sunday, March 25 against Providence as the sixth pick in the Big East conference after earning its first-ever Big East Tournament bid and win last season. Pitt lost four seniors from that squad. Leading the Way... Senior Morgan Howard and junior Jessica Dignon were named this season s team captains. Offensively Minded... During the round robin against Prairie View and Texas Arlington, Pitt outscored its oponents and picked up two wins. Beware of the Bomb Squad...
