(6th) Overall Record...Same Liberty (17-12, 1-2 ASUN) welcomes Lipscomb (19-9-1) to Liberty Softball Stadium for the Lady Flames first-ever ASUN home series. The Bisons brought a five-game winning streak into this week before falling to No. 8 Texas on Monday and at No. 23 Virginia Tech on Wednesday. This weekend s series features the 2019 ASUN Preseason Player (Liberty s Autumn Bishop), Pitcher (Liberty s Julia DiMartino) and Defensive Player of the Year (Lipscomb s Hannah DeVault). The Lady Flames held the high-powered No. 5 Tennessee Lady Vols to one run on five hits in a 1-0 loss in front of a Liberty Softball Stadium record 1,202 fans on Tuesday. Julia DiMartino fanned a season-high 12 batters, and Amber Bishop went 2-for-3 with a double. That loss snapped a 28-game home winning streak for Liberty, which began March 10, Liberty has outscored opponents 71-4 so far at home this season, tossing nine shutouts at Liberty Softball Stadium in 11 home games Big South champion Liberty went 1-2 in its first ASUN series, last weekend at defending ASUN champion Kennesaw State. After winning 11 straight games from Feb. 17 through March 8, Liberty has gone 3-6 since then. Five out of those six losses have come by one run each. So far this season, Liberty has tossed 10 shutouts. Liberty has tossed two no-hitters, including a perfect game from Julia DiMartino and a four-pitcher no-hitter versus Quinnipiac. Liberty s top win so far this season came on Feb. 15, when the Lady Flames downed then No. 19 Texas A&M 4-2. Liberty returns eight all-conference players from last year s team, led by two-time Big South Pitcher of the Year Julia DiMartino, 2019 ASUN Preseason Player of the Year Autumn Bishop and Amber Bishop. All three were named to the NFCA All-Region team each of the last two years. Autumn Bishop was named to the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List. DiMartino, a two-time NFCA All-Region pitcher, has been named ASUN Pitcher of the Week three times. She is 9-6 with a 1.15 ERA (16th nationally).175 opponents batting average and three shutouts. Freshman Braelyn Cooper has posted a 1.09 ERA in seven appearances, while Chase Cassady is 4-1 with a 2.03 ERA and 7.7 strikeouts per seven innings. Amber Bishop leads the team in batting average (.375), runs (20), doubles (8), homers (6) and RBI (14). Her twin sister, Autumn Bishop (.355), is second in the ASUN with a.495 on base percentage. Madison Via (.338) and Sarah Robertson (.320) are tied for second on the team with 17 runs scored. Robertson (.457 OBP) and Alexis Erich (.446 OBP) are second and third on the team in on-base percentage, while Kara Canetto (.274 avg.) is tied for the team lead with 14 RBI. Quick Hits - Julia DiMartino has appeared in more games (151) than any active NCAA Division I pitcher. - Liberty went 12-0 in Big South home games last season. - Amber Bishop needs three hits to become the ninth Lady Flame all-time with 200 career hits. All three players are closing in on the program record of 52 career doubles, set by Ashley Williams ( ). - The Lady Flames finished 2018 ranked second in the nation with a program-record 105 doubles. - Julia DiMartino s 12 strikeouts against No. 5 Tennessee were the most srtikeouts ever by a Lady Flame against a Top 25 team. - Liberty s 28-game home winning streak was the nation s second longest active home winning streak (Oklahoma, 41) when it was snapped on Tuesday. Liberty outscored opponents in that 28-game home winning streak, posting 17 shutouts. - Liberty is currently ranked in the top 25 nationally in ERA (17th, 1.81) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (18th ). Liberty s 1.81 ERA is fifth best among all non-power 5 conference teams. - Liberty was picked as the favorite to win the conference title in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll, while Lipscomb was voted fourth. - Liberty is 6-0 this season in run-rule games, and 2-6 in one-run ballgames. Liberty s last five losses have all been by one run. - Amber Bishop needs three more hits to join Sarah Robertson in the 200-hit club. It would be the first time in program history that two active Lady Flames had 200 or more career hits. - Liberty posted program record streaks of nine consecutive shutout games (Feb. 21-March 8) and 60 straight shutout innings (Feb. 21-March 8), scoring 75 unanswered runs during that span. - On Feb. 28 against Quinnipiac, Julia DiMartino (four innings), Elizabeth Engler (1 IP), Chase Cassady (1 IP) and Emily Kirby (1 IP) pitched the second combined no-hitter in program history, and first since April 20, 2011, when Kat Johnson and Grace Nordan no-hit Norfolk State. - Liberty s 20 runs scored Feb. 21 versus Delaware State were the team s most runs scored against a Division I opponent in program history. - Liberty defeated No. 19 Texas A&M 4-2 on Feb. 15. It was the program s ninth win over a Top 25 team. The Lady Flames are 1-5 against nationally-ranked opponents this season and 9-65 all-time. - Liberty went 2-7 against Top 25 teams last year. The team defeated No. 24/24 Hofstra and No. 11/10 South Carolina to start the 2018 NCAA Columbia Regional. Those were Liberty s first wins over nationally-ranked opponents since 2007, when the Lady Flames knocked off No. 23 Hawai i, No. 10 Baylor and No. 6 Michigan. - Liberty has posted a 1.35 ERA in 57 relief innings, while Julia DiMartino (1.09), Chase Cassady (1.17), Elizabeth Engler (1.31) and Braelyn Cooper (1.35) all have sub-2.00 relief ERA s. - Jaclyn Amader (4-for-4 vs. BYU), Madison Via (4-for-4 vs. Duke) and Amber Bishop (4-for-4 vs. Sacred Heart all have one four-hit game this season. The last time three Lady Flames had a four-hit game in the same season was 2012, when Amber Donovan, Kaylee West and Katie Zavodny did so. - Liberty s record has improved each season under Coach Richardson (11-46 in 2014, in 2015, in 2016, in 2017, program-record in 2018). - Current Lady Flames Deidra See (4/23/16 vs. CSU), Emily Sweat (3/25/17 vs. Radford), Jasmeen Click (4/26/17 vs. Longwood) and Jaclyn Amader (2/16/18 vs. Central Michigan) all have recorded a game-winning walk-off hit in their career. - Five different Liberty pitchers have posted at least one win this season, the second time in the last three years that Liberty has had five different winning pitchers in one year. - Liberty s loss to Notre Dame, Feb. 8, snapped a program-record 15-regular-season-game winning streak, carried over from 2018, when the Lady Flames won their last 14 regular-season contests. - Liberty will face teams from all five Power 5 conferences this season. Liberty has seven games against ACC teams, three versus both the Big Ten and SEC, two against the Big 12, and one against the Pac Liberty s 49 wins in 2018 were tied with South Carolina for the seventh most in NCAA Division I softball in The only teams with more wins were Florida State (58-12), UCLA (58-7), Oklahoma (57-5), Florida (56-11), Oregon (53-10) and Washington (52-10). - Liberty s program-record 19-game winning streak was the longest active winning streak in the nation when it was snapped in the Regional Final last year. - The Lady Flames posted 19 shutouts last season, one shy of the program record of 20, set in Liberty blanked its first three opponents of the season for the first time since Liberty set or tied five program individual single-season records last year: sacrifice flies (Autumn Bishop - 7), saves (Julia DiMartino - 6), doubles (Autumn Bishop - 25), wins (DiMartino - 29), shutouts (DiMartino - 10) and strikeouts (DiMartino - 230). - Led by two-time Big South Coach of the Year Dot Richardson, the Lady Flames qualified for their first NCAA Regional Final in 2018, winning a program-record 49 games. Liberty finished the 2019 season with a program-record RPI of Autumn (80th) and Amber (84th) Bishop were both named to the Softball America list of Top 100 NCAA Division I Softball Players. They are the top two rated players in the ASUN, as Lipscomb s Jordan Fortel is listed 92nd and North Florida s Navia Penrod 96th.

Liberty is the only school to have both its baseball and softball stadiums recognized by NCAA.com that year. Liberty Softball Stadium Named No. 10 College Softball Stadium Through a fan vote conducted by FloSoftball.com, Liberty Softball Stadium was voted the sixth best college softball stadium in the nation in 2017, and is 10th this year. Louisiana Lafayette s Lamson Park was voted No. 1. In 2016, Liberty Softball Stadium appeared second on the list, trailing only LSU s Tiger Park. Stadium Dedication Liberty officially dedicated its new facility prior to the Lady Flames doubleheader against Presbyterian on April 3, A pregame ceremony took place, as former Liberty head coach Paul Wetmore provided the invocation. Liberty President Jerry Falwell, along with current head coach Dot Richardson, threw out the ceremonial first pitches. Becki Falwell and Liberty Director of Athletics Jeff Barber were also a part of the ceremony. The highlight of the pre-game ceremony was the announcement of naming rights of the field, which will now be called Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium. Dwayne Kamphuis, a financial supporter of Liberty University and the softball program, is a legendary fast pitch softball pitcher. Kamphuis traveled the world playing in exhibition softball games as part of the renowned King and His Court team, headed up by Eddie The King Feigner. Opening Games Liberty posted a 3-2 record at the Liberty Softball Classic, March 19-21, The Lady Flames opened their new Liberty Softball Stadium with a 9-2 win over Rider on March 19, and picked up wins over Princeton and Quinnipiac as well. Firsts for All During the first game in Liberty Softball Stadium history, March 19, 2015 against Rider, Megan Robinson recorded the first hit, Madison Kotchey the first double and RBI, Mickey Loveridge the first triple, Tori Zavodny the first stolen base and home run and Chandler Ball the first pitch, strikeout and first victory. She is the fifth Lady Flame all-time with 200+ hits, 100+ RBI and 100+ runs scored. Amber Bishop needs three more hits to join her on that list. - Amber Bishop, Sarah Robertson and Jessica Moore ( ) are the only players to rank in Liberty s all-time top 10 for career hits, RBI and runs scored. - Autumn Bishop reached base safely in 18 straight games before having that streak snapped on Tuesday against Tennessee. She went on a 20-game hitting streak last year, tied for the third longest in program history. Bishop recently became the 17th player in program history, and third active Lady Flame, to score 100 or more career runs. - Alexis Erich went 2-for-21 last year as a freshman. She has broken out this year, batting.268 with six doubles. Erich is also third on the team with a.446 on base percentage. She went 3-for-3 on March 2 against Cleveland State, hitting her first career homer. - Erich was Liberty s first-ever ASUN Softball Player of the Week honoree on March 4. - Freshman Kara Canetto registered two doubles against BYU, the first player with two doubles in a season opener in program history. She is tied for the team lead with 14 RBI. - Madison Via batted 7-for-11 (.636) with two doubles and four RBI in four games last week. - Via s five RBI against Delaware State Feb. 21 were the most by a Lady Flame in a single game since Sarah Robertson drove in five runs at Winthrop, April 22, Freshman Braelyn Cooper, a native of nearby Amherst, Va., has posted a 1.09 ERA in 19 1/3 innings pitched this season. She picked up her first career win on March 2 against Robert Morris. - Jaclyn Amader went 4-for-4 against BYU on Feb. 8, becoming the first player in program history with four hits in a season opener. She homered and tied a career high with four RBI in last Saturday s 11-3 win over Kennesaw State. - Kayla Harris, who played catcher at Liberty as a freshman in 2017, before playing the 2018 season at Northwest Florida State College, has returned to the Lady Flames this season. Harris has started 12 games at catcher this season, with Kaitlin McFarland starting 16 times behind the plate. - Jasmeen Click made her first two starts of the season, March 10 against Ohio and March 13 versus Pitt. It marks the first time in program history that Liberty has been voted first in a conference s preseason softball poll. Also, Julia DiMartino was named ASUN Preseason Pitcher of the Year and Autumn Bishop was named ASUN Preseason Player of the Year, while Amber Bishop joined her sister and DiMartino on the preseason all-conference team. Last year, DiMartino was voted Big South Preseason Pitcher of the Year and Amber Bishop was voted Big South Preseason Player of the Year. Watch Out Autumn Bishop was named to the Top 50 Watch List for the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. She is the only ASUN player on the Top 50 Watch List. The field will be narrowed to 25 (April 24), 10 (May 8) and 3 (May 22), before the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year is announced on May 28. Liberty will play against 11 of the Top 50 Watch List players during the regular season. Regional/National Recognition Liberty s softball team was recognized both regionally and nationally last year. Associate Head Coach Paige Cassady was voted the 2018 NFCA National Assistant Coach of the Year. Additionally, Dot Richardson s staff was named the 2018 NFCA Mid-Atlantic Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.
