The Lady Flames will look to snap a 10-game winless streak, while the Hokies have won eight in a row, putting them in third place in the ACC at present. Virginia Tech has won each of the last 14 meetings between these two programs, and the Hokies hold a record in the all-time series. Liberty swept a doubleheader at then No. 24 Virginia Tech, May 4, Lady Flames at a Glance The Lady Flames honored their five seniors - Alyssa DiMartino, Grace Nordan, Marybeth Sciolino, Sammi Shivock and Katie Zavodny - with a pregame ceremony prior to their game on Saturday against Gardner-Webb. This past weekend, DiMartino pitched two complete games, Nordan and Zavodny both homered, and Sciolino hit 5-for-8. Zavodny hits.339 with 29 runs scored and 21 stolen bases. On Friday, Zavodny became the second player in Big South history with 100 or more career steals. Hanna Nichols bats.305, while Sciolino hits.288. Megan Robinson (.276) leads the team with seven homers and a.524 slugging percentage. Kelby Allen (.260) has hit six doubles and six homers, totaling 25 RBIs, while Blair Lawrence (.260) has 12 steals. DiMartino leads the team in wins (3) and ERA (6.16). Sophomore RHP Annah Jo Brittingham (2-18) has posted a team-best two saves. Nordan earned her first pitching win of the season, March 22 versus N.C. Central. On Friday, Marybeth Sciolino batted 5-for-5 over the span of two games against Gardner-Webb. She batted 3-for-3 during game one, good for her first career three-hit game, and added a 2-for-2 performance in the nightcap. Katie Zavodny hit her first career over-the-fence home run on Friday, and then went 3-for-5 during game two, stealing two bases and driving in two runs. Grace Nordan hit her first homer of the season in game one versus the Runnin Bulldogs, batting 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Alyssa DiMartino threw a pair of complete games on the weekend, fanning a seasonhigh four batters in a 6-5 loss on Friday. Sammi Shivock was hit by a pitch twice during the series. Another 100 Club With her two stolen bases on Friday, Katie Zavodny became just the second player in Big South history with 100 career steals. She trails just one player, as Jessica Falca of Coastal Carolina ( ) holds the Big South record with 196. Zavodny is ranked 10th among all active NCAA Division I players in career stolen bases. Back-to-Back Kelby Allen hit a home run in both games of Friday s doubleheader against Gardner- Webb. It marked the first time this season that any Lady Flame had hit a home run in back-to-back games. With 20 career homers, Allen is just two away from entering Liberty s all-time top 10 in career home runs. Blazing the Basepaths With 65 stolen bases so far this season, the Lady Flames have already tied for the fourth most steals in a single season in program history. The last time Liberty had 65 stolen bases was in The program record for stolen bases is 93, set in 1996, while the 1994 team swiped 92 bags and the Lady Flames totaled 87 steals in It has been a team effort, as 11 different players have posted at least one stolen base. Katie Zavodny leads with 21 steals, followed by Blair Lawrence with 12. Marybeth Sciolino has stolen seven bases, and Megan Robinson and Grace Nordan have five each. Top 10 Listing Seniors Sammi Shivock and Katie Zavodny both rank in the top 10 in program history in four different career categories. Zavodny is Liberty s career leader in stolen bases (100), while ranking third in runs (123), sixth in hits (195) and tied for 10th in triples (4). She needs two more hits to pass Ashley Williams ( ) into fifth all-time at Liberty. Shivock is ranked fifth in career homers (26), seventh in both runs scored (111) and RBIs (108) and tied for ninth in walks (52). Alyssa DiMartino and Annah Jo Brittingham are tied for ninth all-time at Liberty with two career saves, while Chandler Ball is rated 10th with 207 career strikeouts. Rounding the Bases The Lady Flames scored a season-high 14 runs in a win during game one against UNCG, April 2. All nine players in the batting order scored at least one run, led by three from Hanna Nichols and two runs each by Katie Zavodny, Megan Robinson and Blair Lawrence. It marked the second time this season that every starter scored at least one run, as everyone in the batting order scored in a 12-0 win over UMBC, Feb Club When she was written into the starting lineup last Wednesday at Radford, Sammi Shivock became the 15th player in Liberty s NCAA Division I softball history to make 200 or more career starts. She is the first Lady Flame to draw her 200th starting assignment since former teammates Kelly Strickland, Kaylee West and Jenny Law all did so in 2012.

Among her many honors, Richardson was named the 1980 s NCAA Player of the Decade. She is enshrined in the ASA Hall of Fame and UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame. It marked Brittingham s second career shutout, and first since a two-hitter against Manhattan, March 2, Earlier this season, on Feb. 15, Alyssa DiMartino scattered seven hits during a 12-0, five-inning victory over UMBC. It was DiMartino s first career complete-game shutout. What a Relief! Senior Grace Nordan, who has started 29 games at shortstop in 2014, made her second pitching appearance of the season, March 22. She pitched six innings of two-hit relief, allowing two unearned runs while gaining the decision in Liberty s 7-5 win over NCCU. Sophomore Annah Jo Brittingham then closed the door on Charleston Southern s comeback attempt in a 4-2 win on March 31, earning her first career save. Power Surge After hitting four total home runs over the span of the team s first 20 games this year, Liberty hit a season-high four home runs in a 9-8 setback on March 14 against Campbell. Over the last 23 games, the Lady Flames have hit 19 home runs, with all but one of those 19 blasts coming at home. Megan Robinson leads the Lady Flames with a career-high seven homers, after entering the season with one career home run. Kelby Allen, last year s team leader with 10 homers, follows with six round trippers in This past Friday against Gardner-Webb, Grace Nordan and Kassidy McCoy both hit their first home run of the season. Eight total Lady Flames have gone deep this year. 100/100 Senior Sammi Shivock joined elite company on March 14 against Campbell, recording her 100th career RBI with a solo homer in the first inning. She is now ranked seventh all-time at Liberty with 111 runs scored, and is seventh with 108 RBIs. She is the fourth Liberty player all-time to have recorded both 100 runs and 100 RBIs, joining program standouts Jessica Moore ( ), Ashley Williams ( ) and Shivock s former teammate, Kelly Strickland ( ). 3 Company When senior Marybeth Sciolino went 3-for-3 against Gardner-Webb on Friday, she became the 12th current Lady Flame with at least one career three-hit game.
