1 SACRAMENTO RIVER CATS River Cats Media Relations 400 Ballpark Drive West Sacramento, CA P: (916) F: (916) Rich history: On June 20, 2011, against Fresno at Raley Field, Travis Banwart relieved rehab starter Rich Harden to strike out 11 Grizzlies batters over 6.0 innings, earning the victory. Ironically, the 11 strikeouts for Banwart tied Harden s franchise record for most strikeouts by a River Cats reliever in a single game, set April 19, Overall, Banwart is 2-1 with a 5.87 ERA in his career against Fresno. However, his ERA is 3.71 with a 2-0 record over 17.0 innings the past two seasons. In his lone Sacramento start in 2009, Banwart allowed seven runs over 6.0 innings in a loss to Fresno. Back on the hill: In Travis Banwart s most recent start (August 23 at Tucson), he allowed two unearned runs over 7.0 innings as Sacramento clinched the Pacific South Division title with a 15-2 victory over the Padres. Banwart struck out four and walked one in that performance, earning his first victory since August 2. The right-hander is 2-2 with a 4.02 ERA in August, and leads Sacramento in innings pitched (137.2), strikeouts (115), walks (42) and games started (23). Crystal clear: Billy Crystal, who is filming a movie in the Fresno Grizzlies press box this series, was on air with River Cats radio broadcaster Johnny Doskow in the fourth inning. Crystal said this about whether a Fresno baserunner should go half way on a fly ball: It s 107 degrees... I m not going half way unless there s a lemonade on second base. Taylor made: Sacramento outfielder Michael Taylor collected his second multi-home run game of the season Saturday night, hitting a two-run blast in the fourth inning to tie the game, 3-3. He then hit a solo blast in the sixth inning to give Sacramento a 4-3 lead. Taylor, who hit six homers in 127 games last season with Sacramento, has 15 in 88 games this season. Taylor also hit two home runs in a game June 13 at Salt Lake. Fresno woes snapped: After losing their first five road games of the season at Fresno, the River Cats have won back-to-back games Friday and Saturday and have a chance to win this five-game series Sunday. Sacramento is 3-5 against Fresno at home this season, and 2-5 on the road. Fresno swept Sacramento at Chukchansi Park from July 4-6. High Five! The Sacramento River Cats clinched their 10th PCL South Division title in 12 seasons with a 15-2 victory against the host Tucson Padres on Tuesday night. The River Cats are the first team in major American professional sports (MLB, NHL, NBA and NFL) to win 10 division championships this century. Sacramento has also matched the Pacific Coast League record for consecutive division titles with five. The Albuquerque Isotopes are the only other team in league history to win five division titles in a row, accomplishing the feat between 1987 and Go Wes, young man: Sacramento infielder Wes Timmons, who had not hit a River Cats home run in 45 games entering Friday, has hit home runs in each of the team s last two games. On Saturday night, he hit a solo blast in the first inning to give Sacramento a 1-0 lead at Fresno. Timmons is riding a seven-game hitting streak, and he has at least one hit in each of his six games since returning to Sacramento from Double-A Midland. In Midland, Timmons hit.365 with five home runs in 39 games. He leads active Sacramento players with a.318 batting average. He has also struck out only eight times in 154 at-bats this season, with 27 walks and a.441 on-base percentage. Miller approaching record: River Cats outfielder Jai Miller hit his 30th home run of the season on Tuesday night and was the third River Cat to join to 30-home run club. He is now just four home runs away from tying the single-season record for home runs hit by a River Cat player. The record was set by Graham Koonce when he hit 34 home runs in Playoff tickets: Playoff tickets are available for purchase now with individual game tickets ranging in price from $7 to $60.
