He also pitched four near-perfect innings in relief with seven strikeouts, all looking, in game two of Saturday s doubleheader against Brown. He has now struck out 15 batters looking this season, which leads the entire BIG EAST. The Hoya offense is led by Nick Collins with a.333 (25-for-75) batting average. He has three, three-hit games in Georgetown s past six contests. Joseph Bialkowski and Jake Kuzbel are both also batting over.300, coming in with averages of.311 and.307, respectively. O Donovan Dining Hall on Georgetown s campus. Highlighting this year s event was New York Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson, who served as the keynote speaker. It was an honor to have Sandy speak with our team and alums on Saturday, said Wilk. He has enjoyed success at every point of his career in Major League Baseball and he had some great stories and inspirational words for our players. Before the event started, Alderson met privately with the baseball team to talk and have the opportunity for a questions and answers. At the dinner, Alderson spoke of the opportunities and responsibilities bestowed upon a studentathlete at Georgetown. Not only does a student-athlete have to balance the rigors of Georgetown academics and the commitments of being a Division I athlete, but a Hoya baseball player also has the responsibility of representing themselves, their teammates, their family and the University. Alderson began in his role as the Mets general manager following the 2010 season. Entering his fifth season with the Mets, Alderson has improved a depleted minor league system to one of the best in baseball, while also putting together an improved major league team on the field as the Mets have improved in the National League (NL) East standings in each year since 2011, finishing second in He has reduced the team s payroll significantly, ranking 22nd out of 30 teams on Opening Day of 2014 with a payroll of just over $89 million and has established one of the best, young pitching staffs in baseball behind 2013 All-Star Game starter Matt Harvey, 2014 NL Rookie of the Year Jason degrom, Zack Wheeler and one of the top pitching prospects in baseball in Noah Syndergaard. Alderson broke into baseball in 1981 with the Oakland Athletics and was promoted to general manager prior to the 1983 season and held that position until 1998 when he left to work in the Major League Baseball (MLB) Commissioner s office. With the Athletics, Alderson helped rebuild the farm system, producing three-consecutive American League (AL) Rookies of the Year from (Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire and Walt Weiss) and four overall. Oakland won four AL West championships (1988, 89, 90, 92), and went to three-consecutive World Series ( ), winning the 1989 title.

These three young men all bring excellent leadership qualities to the table, and I am confident that they will help lead this team to reach its full potential this season. Hoyas Spend Weekend Volunteering in D.C. The Georgetown baseball team put the bats and balls away for the weekend of Nov. 8-9, choosing instead to pick up rakes, brooms and kitchen utensils as the Hoyas participated in two local community service projects. A group of Hoyas spent their Saturday working with other members of the Georgetown community, beautifying the neighborhoods surrounding the Georgetown campus. The Blue & Gray split into groups to clean up the neighborhoods by raking, weeding, picking up trash and cleaning up tree boxes. On Sunday, the Hoyas prepared meals at the DC Central Kitchen. Half of the Hoyas helped prepare food for the Capital Food Fight, a Nov. 11 cook-off between local chefs to raise funds for the DC Central Kitchen, while the other half prepped meals for D.C. public school lunches. Supplee and Pearlman Added to Complete Coaching Staff In July, Head Coach Pete Wilk announced the addition of Erik Supplee to the coaching staff to serve as the Hoyas new pitching coach. Wake Forest won a combined 58 games in Supplee s two seasons, where he served as the director of operations in 2013 and the volunteer assistant coach in The Demon Deacons had six players selected in the MLB Draft in his two seasons, including five pitchers. In August, Wilk announced the addition of Eric Pearlman as the final member of the coaching staff. Pearlman will serve as the volunteer assistant for the Hoyas. In three seasons as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Ursinus College, Pearlman helped lead the Bears to 42 wins.

7 PETE WILK Head Coach 16th season Pete Wilk enters his 16th season as the head coach of the Georgetown baseball program, taking over duties in the fall of 1999 and helping to rebuild the program in that time. On the field, the Hoyas have become a competitive program in the always-tough BIG EAST Conference and his 298 wins make him the alltime winningest coach in Georgetown history. Off the field, his team has been successful in the classroom and involved in the community, both on-campus and off. In 2012, the Hoyas won 24 games overall, including 10 in the BIG EAST and went into the final day of play in the regular season with a chance to make the BIG EAST Tournament. In 2004 and 2005, Wilk guided the team to its most successful two-season win total (50) since the seasons. Wilk also was named Coach of the Year by The Hoya for his efforts in During his tenure on the Hilltop, Wilk has implemented a Career Night for current Hoya baseball players to get career advice and network with GU baseball alumni. Georgetown players First Pitch Dinner Speakers have also been involved in community efforts, working with the on-campus Hoya Dreams program and annually taking part in the D.C. Heart Walk, which raises money for the American Heart Association as well as volunteering with several other off-campus projects. Wilk has also initiated the preseason First Pitch Dinner which is a fundraiser exclusively for the baseball program. The inaugural First Pitch Dinner in 2005 featured Terry Francona, manager of the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox, as the guest speaker and television and radio personality Mike Barnicle as the emcee. Since that time, other sports luminaries such as ESPN analyst Tim Kurkjian, National Baseball Hall of Fame members Johnny Bench and Dave Winfield, 1980 U.S. hockey goalie Jim Craig, former Major League pitcher Jamie Moyer, former major league umpire Bruce Froemming, Tim Russert from NBC s Meet the Press, Baltimore Orioles General Manager Dan Duquette and New York Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson have joined the Hoyas at their season-opening event. Wilk has seen seven Georgetown players move onto the professional ranks. Most recently, the Hoyas had two players selected in the 2012 draft, shortstop Mike Garza and outfielder Justin Leeson. Other Major League draft picks include pitcher Tim Adleman (B 10), Matthew Bouchard ( 07), Parker Brooks (C 05), catcher Erick Fernandez (C 11), Rand Ravnaas (B 11). Three other former players, Eddie Pena (B 05), Michael Lombardi (B 04) and Eric Sutton ( 02) all signed free agent contracts following their graduation. Before becoming head coach at Georgetown in 2000, Wilk served as an assistant coach with the Hoyas for the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Wilk came to the Hilltop in the fall of 1997 after serving as the head baseball coach at Acton-Boxboro High School in Massachusetts, where he helped turn around a program that previously went 2005 Terry Francona (MLB Manager) 2006 Tim Russert (NBC s Meet the Press) / David Forst (Oakland Athletics Assistant GM) Mike Barnicle (Former Boston Globe Columnist) (emcee) 2007 Johnny Bench (MLB Hall of Fame Catcher) / Chris Young (MLB Pitcher) 2008 Bruce Froemming (Former MLB Umpire) 2009 Tim Kurkjian (MLB Analyst for ESPN) 2010 Jim Craig (Goaltender for Gold Medal-winning 1980 U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey Team) 2011 Jamie Moyer (Former MLB Pitcher) 2012 Dave Winfield (MLB Hall of Fame Outfielder) 2013 Larry Bowa (Former MLB Manager, current Philadelphia Phillies Bench Coach) 2014 Dan Duquette (Executive VP of Baseball Operations for the Baltimore Orioles) 2015 Sandy Alderson (New York Mets General Manager) 3-17 into a team that made an appearance in the 1996 state semifinals.
