1 Scenic River Float Tour A relaxing and refreshing way to spend a day in the Sonoran Desert is on a Scenic River Float Tour. While the river can be swiftly moving, it features no large rapids. Experienced guides will keep a watchful eye on everyone as they share their extensive knowledge of the interesting and colorful history of the area; and discuss the native plants and animals encountered along the way. Rugged mountains fill the background as the float moves downstream between towering saguaro cactus and shady mesquite groves. Flowing from the mountains of Northern Arizona, the river is captured by two dams and released for use by locals and farmers year round. The reliable source of water attracts a variety of wildlife including wild horses, herons, and eagles. The experienced guides will provide interesting and colorful history of the area, discuss the native plants and animals encountered along the way, and keep a watchful eye over all the kayakers. After a brief on-shore overview, you will get in the water and learn how to successfully launch a standup paddleboard while kneeling and pushing away from the shore. You will then practice standing, paddling, and steering. Upon arrival, you will enjoy cool refreshing beverages while watching the chefs demonstrations in a state-of-the-art kitchen. Groups will then split up according to the part of the meal they will be preparing: homemade tortilla chips with salsa & guacamole, spice rubbed pork tenderloin, corn mango salad, Spanish rice, or chocolate mousse. After the chefs put the final touches to the meal, the groups will enjoy the fruits of their labor. $90/person (adult/child ages 12+) Round-trip transportation Two-hour hands-on interactive cooking class with meal Sizzling Southwest menu Soft drinks and bottled water during class House wine and beer with meal All service fees, gratuities, and taxes Casual attire.
