1 WINTER NEWSLETTER: FINALS WEEK DEPARTMENT NEWS END OF QUARTER SHARING SCHEDULE As the winter quarter accelerates to its closing this week, the Theatre & Dance Department has a few showings of work done throughout the quarter. Thursday 3/22 from 12:30PM-2:00 PM: MFA I Realism Directing Projects GH 15 & 320 Friday 3/23 from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM: MFA III Dance/Showcase Presentation GH 23 7:00 PM: Octoroon Reading - Wagner Theatre Saturday 3/24 at 1:00 PM: Design Thesis Display presentation in the Forum Theatre 2:00 PM: Graduation DEBORAH STEIN'S THE WHOLEHEARTED PERFORMS IN NYC Playwriting Faculty Professor Deborah Stein's play The Wholehearted is currently performing in New York at the Abrons Arts Center. Created by Stein Holum Projects, Deborah wrote the play and directed it with her frequent collaborator Suli Holum who performs in it. The Wholehearted is the unflinching portrait of a female boxer who survives a brutal attack by her husband. A tale of revenge and redemption, the violence of love, the sexuality of sports, and the high cost of fame, this new play utilizes live projections, film, and a thumping rockabilly score to explore the line between personal fantasy and hard reality and what it takes to be a champion. 2 DESIGN STUDENTS GATHER IN NYC Many of the current MFA Design students met in Los Angeles to visit with Scenic Design Faculty Professor Robert Brill and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical which is preparing for its Broadway opening. MFA ACTING CLASS OF 2018 PREPARE FOR SHOWCASE The upcoming MFA Acting Class of 2018 is preparing for their showcase in New York City. They will perform twice on Monday, April 9th, 2018 at the Alice Grifﬁn Jewel Box Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Center on 42nd Street. REGAN LINTON NAMED 40 UNDER 40 MFA Acting alumna Regan Linton has been named as one of the UC San Diego Triton 40 Under 40. Forty distinguished, emerging Tritons, aged 40 years and younger, will be recognized during UC San Diego s annual Alumni Weekend, May 31-June 3. Regan is one of 40 alums who are pushing boundaries and expectations in their chosen fields and producing breakthrough work for the greater good.
