2 Parks and Recreation Welcome to our Parks and Recreation Department Update! As always; more information is available at or call the Alamosa Family Recreation Center at (719) Happy Recreating! Tennis Courts Open All tennis courts at Boyd and Carroll parks are open for play. After the contractor finished their resurfacing job, staff painted the light poles, replaced light bulbs, cleaned light lens, straightened and painted the net poles, installed new court nets, installed new signage specifying court use, moved irrigation heads five feet away from the courts, and installed a five foot crusher fine border around the courts. Each court has received a sponge roller to push water off the court surfaces for faster drying. A new practice backboard is on order and will be installed at Carroll. In order to keep the playing surfaces in the best condition as long as possible, the Alamosa Police Department will be keeping an extra eye out for bikes, skateboards, and roller skates being used on the courts. Boyd Park Carroll Park Lee Fields Dog Park Update With Parks staff just finishing up the tennis courts (as having been the top priority), they will switch their attention over to the dog park site. Tasks to be completed this year: Removing the horse railing Rough mowing Leveling out the raised track Modifying and creating an entrance on the concession side Purchasing and installing new fencing and entrance on the fairground side Putting down road base on the fairground side Staff has met with Boy Scout whose Eagle Scout project will provide the dog park amenities. His project was approved and the installation of the amenities is planned for next April/May.
