It's that time of the year when it seems that every time you turn around the banks and post office are closed for a holiday. Officers for 2013 President Marlene Bowman wwbowmans@me.com Vice President James Howard twototravel@juno.com CONTENTS OF THE ISSUE Marlene Bowman..1 Ladies Luncheon Birthdays & anniversaries..2 Quote of the month...2 Under the awning...3 Yucaipa pictures....4 Coupon for Hobo Coupon for March rally List of rallies for Yucaipa Report The weather gods we smiling on us this past weekend. What a beautiful weekend we had at Yucaipa Regional Park. Thanks to Leah Newport for hosting our first night pot luck supper at her parks clubhouse. It was a great time to welcome Tim and Nancy Murphy into the Airstream fold. Lucky for me that it was also a great weekend to get some RV maintenance from Chuck Maddox, George Oelkers and all the other male members of the group. Those new batteries drained the bank account a little but at least I can be sure of having lights and a functioning generator now. Learning all the little ins and outs of your rig is always easier at a rally. We have plans in order for our participation at the annual Hobo rally coming up really soon and the March joint rally with the San Diego unit sounds like it will be really fun. Check the coupon that our esteemed editor is including in this issue and get your name on the list. I for one will be calling in and getting a few extra nights at the group rate. Several members are discussing the upcoming International rally in Gillette, Wyoming so if you are thinking of going come to a unit rally and get the scoop on all the plans. I hope we will see you at Hobo. If you are headed somewhere else, take pictures to share, and remember to keep the shinny side up! See you down the road, Marlene 2007 SUPERIOR AWARD WINNER

3 Page 3 Under the awning Michelin LT Tire Recall (reprinted from Escapees newsletter) We recently received the following recall notification from the NHTSA regarding certain Michelin light truck tires. Since these tires are common on smaller RVs and many tow vehicles, we wanted you to be aware of the problem. If you have tires that are subject to this recall, please contact the Michelin recall hotline at for additional information. NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 13T012 Synopsis :Michelin North America, Inc., (Michelin) is recalling certain Michelin LTX M/S tires, size LT225/75R16 115/112R LRE, manufactured from January 10, 2010, through June 23, 2012, and supplied for use as original equipment on certain Ford vehicles, and as replacement equipment on various brand commercial light trucks, full-sized heavy duty vans, small RVs and some large pickup trucks. These tires could experience tread separation. Tread separation can lead to rapid air loss, which may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Michelin will notify owners and Michelin dealers will replace the tires free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on January 6, Owners may call Michelin Consumer Care Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, or Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 4:30pm EST at the following numbers: USA: (language options: English and Spanish This just in from the region President. 8 Yucaipa Rally The weather was spectacular and the company was even better than that. We had a wonderful time. Thursday evening we congregated at the Yucaipa Land Yacht Harbor as guest of Leah Newport. We had a Pot luck dinner with lots of different recipes of chicken dishes, tamales, salad and green bean casserole. Friday was a do as you want day. After a breakfast at Denny s, Some went shopping, some went antiquing, and others just sat around and caught up on visiting with members that they hadn t seen in a while After happy hour we adjourned to Laws restaurant in Oak Glen. Reservations for 9 at 6 O'clock, seated at 7PM and finished dinner at 8. They ran out of everything, except Apple Pie. Though our numbers were small, our enjoyment was large. Saturday was sleep late day, most every one was catching up on rest and just winding down. The Steinbergs had joined us late Friday night, so we had a great gab feast catching up since we saw them in November. Ray Leedham joined us during the morning too. Marlene, spent a good portion of the day looking for batteries for her motor home. We were joined by Carol & George Oelkers for our late day meeting and stayed for dinner. We enjoyed pulled pork and chicken tacos with too many fixens to list. The Howards brought two bags of fresh oranges from the trees in their park to share with our members. Sunday brought the Newport's to the campground, where David threw a couple of rounds of Frisbee Golf, while Leah sat around and gabbed with the rest of us. Marlene Bowman, Chuck & Linda Maddox, Tim & Nancy Murphy ( New members) Jim & Velinda Howard, David & Teri Steinberg with children Isabella, & Ethan and last but not least Bud & Claudia Richards, were the campers at the Yucaipa Regional Park. This is a very nice park and very kid friendly. We will visit here again. SPECIAL NOTE! We will be able to expand our stay at Golden Village Palms Resort, March Rally if you want. Simply contact the resort and inform them that you want an extension. Velinda and I will be there from Thursday March 13 Leaving on Monday March 17th.
